  • In this video I discuss some of my favorite ropes : Yale Bifrost, Teufelberger Xstatic, and the tried and true Yale Blue Moon. All of these ropes are 11mm to 11.8mm in diameter and are great for everyday tree work.

Blue moon is a great workhorse. The colour is also nice for standing out in the canopy

Nice job brother. I was considering Blue Moon as my next purchase, as I currently use Samson Arbormaster and Sterling Scion (both 12.5). I also purchased True Blue just to get a bit of nastalgia going and I've used that for light rigging around the property. Just started climbing this past year. I do use the Zigzag on both of the 1/2" lines - almost no learning curve on that Zigzag. Love it. Both ropes move through CT foot ascenders well but the 24 strand Sterling doesn't get nicked up whatsoever compared to the Samson 16. Blue Moon is next...

I was going to join a n arborist group on Facebook for information, nah they tell you Joe Homeowner is not welcome. My questions were about climbing not the cut by cut break down on taking down a tree. CZcams is so much better. As to rope I bought Bazooka off Right Rope. I’m wondering if the stretch in it is my issue trying to ascend SRT. Thanks for the rope review.

What's the difference between an arborist rope and a rope used for caving - they're both kernmantle? Do they have a different type of sheath?

While they share similarities…I think that they are all designed with specific stretch properties for the given task and also the intended devices that go on them for either caving or arboriculture.

I use the RRP and a Samson Tengo Ivy rope. So far 3 months of use and no complaints. I am looking at XStatic or Blue Moon. Which would you recommend for the Rope Runner Pro or any mechanical device and why?

Xstatic for Rope runner pro because it’s smooth high strand count cover and stays round in devices, blue moon for zigzag because it’s great for both mrs/srs but it doesn’t stay round imo in the rope runner
