I have reduced my use of Facebook and is into LinkedIn more nowadays.
For those who are interested in developing professionally, there is no better platform than LinkedIn, but as pahayan said LinkedIn etiquette is very important.
Being a finance and business student I was able to come across much good content and exposure to various industries which aids my professional development and careers.
Personally, it helped me to broaden my vision and aims I have in my career.

And really enjoy to read all kind of articles coming over there, for job searching, knowing opportunities wide around.Am using free, not paid one. Is it useful if we pay it? Is it worth paying and using linkedin or free version is fine?

No. You can accept connection from anyone of your choice. However if you find out that a profile is incomplete or if it seems to be a fake profile take decision based on it.
