Every time I trip I learn something new. It doesnt take me anywhere, it simply decontructs all of the social systems that we've been forced into. It makes me realize the immense amount of horseshit we impose on ourselves and each other. It's not the lack of things, it's the manipulative quality of the extra crap we pile on to things that aren't broken. You will learn to appreciate your arm hair. Your cat, your bed. Your relationships and that some doors are to be closed and others opened. Do it.

After tripping many times and wearing the ego thin, finally experienced the "sky being torn open" and an overwhelming experience of wisdom and love coming from what I can only describe as God. It told me that it is was great that I finally got here and reconciled apparent opposites.. false dualities if you will. Then it said "now can you come find me sober"? Woke up the next day and the journey began.. I've not succeeded yet, but at least I know there's a goal and infinite love to support you on the way. @@dealwolfstriked272 A person with no ego would never state openly "I have no ego", at least not in this particular context as you are doing it. A person with no ego just wouldn't be interested in such a bravado. Still, it is perfectly fine for anybody to have a fully functioning ego cause in any other case you wouldn't be able to function in this material dimension. A quality psychedelic experience will point to you, or it will make you conscious that you have an ego. It will make you clear that there is something in you that can be labeled as your ego, and there is another aspect of you that is able to witness the ego, which is usually a radically new, awesome, and mind-blowing experience. Or should we say a mind-bending experience? Sometimes some people are for various reasons unable to relax during the psychedelic experience, which is usually a sign that the ego doesn't allow to be put on the spot just like that. In that case, a good psychedelic will slap the ego hard and that person will have an experience of ego-death. That doesn't mean that ego really died. It means that it got temporarily smaller and traumatized cause it didn't use to be out in the open and out of control.

I did Ayahuasca. I did not feel like there was something outside myself communicating to me, probably because I wasn't predisposed to that since I did not use it in a ritualistic context and I am not a religious person. What I believe it does is remove a layer, or possibly a barrier, in your consciousness and allows you to look and even express yourself with a degree of honesty and awareness that you do not experience otherwise. If you use that moment to reflect upon yourself, surely you'll draw conclusions and understandings that are enabled by this state of mind.

About what Lex is saying, yes there is hubris about these ultimate questions on the nature of mind, consciousness, etc., but to me that is mostly coming from those who are more on the academic and materialistic side of the inquiry. I think there have definitely been many who have realized and experienced the true nature of the mind, consciousness, reality, Self. It's not hubris to think that it is possible to experience this, rather I think it is literally our very nature and essence. We are That. For anyone with an open mind, there is more than enough evidence out there that this experiential knowledge exists.

I’ve been fortunate enough to drink ayahuasca about ten times. It’s a game changer! And although other psychedelics hold a lot of the same power, the culture and ceremony that comes with drinking ayahuasca is what makes it what it is. Not to say one has to indulge in all the indigenous rites and rituals...but the aspect of sitting in a group setting with a guide who offers the support to your journey is, for me, what sets it apart from taking other psychedelics in a typical western approach. Highly recommended.

There really are no words to convey, we can try, and we all do, and the people we talk to about it want to know more! I remember after my first time, seeing artwork that was made by very talented artists that went through their own journey, and all of a sudden recognizing what they were attempting to depict, and realizing that no matter how great it was, it falls short of the real thing
I also agree on how terrifying it can be, after my first time, I just wanted to fly home, I was so scared of doing it again, but I’m glad I did because it only got better
But I do agree it’s a giant decision for anyone, once you flip that switch, it’s never truly flipped off, even years after your last experience.

If you're in the band, sure, because you're acting on others instead of being acted upon. Typically, the stage is under your control as well, whereas the crowd seems more chaotic. I suppose it depends on the genre a bit (e.g., Yanni vs Metallica). Anyway, Dan has some takes that resonate. Enjoying the clips. :)

Thank you for saying this. I had a similar experience with experimenting with psychedelics. I was well read and knew a lot about what I was taking, and how to have a good experience. I travelled to Peru when I was 24 for an Ayahuasca journey. I can't say it led to my mental health issues, but I don't think it helped. I was experimenting and taking risks because I was desperate, I was depressed and didn't know how to get out, so I had this illusion that psychedelics could heal me and set me straight again.
But this didn't happen. Not all stories are positive and beneficial. About a year later I spent several weeks in a mental hospital back in my home town. It was bad.. not sure what else to say.
To those reading, just be careful out there and reach out to those around you and have a good support system before dabbling in these things. I'm healthier now at 30 than I ever have been, due to reconnecting with people and everyday life. Too much travelling and crazy experiences when you're young can sometimes be destabilising rather than a route to 'finding yourself'.

Some people are boarder-line schizophrenics who could live a lifetime without it being activated. @@johngolden8549 Schizophrenia, I'm not sure, you could be right. But I think at the moment the research shows a huge variety of genes could be involved in the disorder. There is a researcher in the UK that is on the cutting edge of that research. Whether it is the drugs activating different genes or maybe the added stress to the body and mind from a disturbing experience that tips vulnerable people over the edge, I don't know.
But desperate people don't really listen to warnings anyway because they are desperate and will try anything. I think I could only recommend these journeys to young people now if they were to do it with a trained professional, like a psychologist, as part of a program. I think they need to be utilised in a long term supportive relationship to reduce likelihood of harm.

Im 52 & have done my fair share of partying & substances over the years etc. In the recent decade great insights have come from the pure mdma I did a couple of handful of times. Too much of anything is no good. Daily 20 minute meditation has been the most valuable in terms of understanding life & a better daily, more loving synchronistic flowy experience. Just stopping, slowing breath, letting go & observing. Words & thought disappear & imagery & knowing takes over. What I've learnt is we're definately all connected & one. The daily physical experience is definately illusionary somewhat with deeper dynsmics at play. All problems stem from our individual & collective urge to control our experience tho we're programmed to do so from the time we open our eyes. Two basic rules apply & are key to most things 1.Treat others (all sentient beings) the way you would like to be treated. 2. Actions speak louder than words. There's deepness & meaning I feel which is very hard to put into words. Eat plant based, stretch regularly, fast regularly, stay lean, exercise, meditate daily. Find peace & master yourself & it will be mirrored to your relationship with others & your daily experience.

Love these, and this was a good one. It seems Ayahuasca teaches a lifetime worth of lessons in a dose. It's unbelievably fascinating to ponder how and why, what's really going on. I think it is revealing truth, about ourselves, how we construct reality at least in our own mind, and possibly truth about some deeper workings of reality. One perplexing thing is how Ayahuasca exists.. how could something so miraculous to mind exist. It acts on the core of our existence in ways that seem far beyond coincidence or chance. How could a wild compound teach you such profoundly beneficial things? It adjusts your unfathomably complex mind to function in a way it apparently should. That's mindboggling.

Like any psychedelic its enchancing some of the brain functions, connect and block some of them, messes up with the whole homeostasis for this short period of time. It isnt some kind of entity, a chemical compound cannot have its own agenda - it just temporarily impairs the function of the whole organism.
But for the greater majority of population it will have no long-term effect, nor physical nor on the mind. Depression will not go away, dickheads wont stop being dickheads, greddy will keep grabbing and haters will still hate. One dose of some psychedelic cant change the "wiring" of your brain you and your environment has been working to establish for decades.

One of my first truly breakthrough experiences, during my own experimentation was this..... the words/feeling/communication I was experiencing, felt as if they were coming from someone/something/somewhere else.......
""""" Hey we've been waiting for you....... don't be scared...... don't be scared....... your family is here with us..... you don't really know him well, but he's family, he's family...... it's (then proceeded to tell me a name) he's safe, he's here with us, he's your family don't worry, he's with us""""
3 days later I was with my mum and we were talking about our family and I was asking if any of my older family members had caught or been effected by c v..... at first she said no.... then after a short pause she said her cousin..... with the same name I had heard/felt/experienced 3 days before had been in a coma for 4 days with pneumonia and died the day after my experience......... I was gobsmacked and instantly began to feel an incredibly sadness this was one of the most profound experiences of my life......... I had only ever met the man a few times and never really seen him or his family in my day to day life or on social media as I only use this......... there had been no mention from anyone or way of me knowing about his predicament in the weeks prior.

For those of us who have a serious Aya practice (many years, close to 70 ceremonies) it's always interesting to hear the input from people new to the realm. First of all, Aya is NOT DMT. That is a simple misunderstanding based on western scientific materialism/reductionism. Aya is a vine with NO DMT. It has an MAOI that allows the DMT from another plant (usually Chacruna leaves) to get to the brain. But there are untold numbers of agents at work, and to simplify it down to DMT is not accurate or complete. It's incomplete.
It is also quite different from Mushrooms or LSD, which is a synthetic mushroom derivation. I've done plenty of all of them and none are like Aya. Aya has an intelligence and specificity that is miraculous. It gives you precisely what you need, not what you want, but what you need, every single time. It's very humbling to imagine that such a thing exists. I first did it in 1999 and i can say that i'm just as awed by it now as i was then.
But one doesn't really understand it until having done at least 20-some ceremonies. Even then you're just beginning to understand what it's capable of teaching and healing. It is a teacher and a healer, but you must take the lessons and healing and implement them in your life. Aya shows you the path, but you must walk it. Aya shifts your body, aligns your central nervous system, it stimulates your Vagas nerve, heals all of the systems vagal nerve touches. I look forward to when they can put nanobots in people to get the info of what's transpiring in the body so they can monitor and measure all that it's doing. It's true medicine.
Don't engage until you feel called and make sure you are with a responsible guide/facilitator.

I looked into this a few years ago while writing a book. Halucinogenics simply create or enable brain connections that we don't normally have access to. It feels profound because it is. But it does not reveal the meaning of the universe to you. It might help with anxiety/depression and things like that though.

@@infidelcashflow3497 True. However when researching the book I read loads of trip diaries and many academic papers on the mechanisms behind what people experience. Richard Dawkins would be the most famous scientist very content to explain hallucinogenic experiences as quirks of the brain under the influence of a brain altering substance, not mystical pathways to understanding the nature of life.
I would say from personal experience that MJ also makes the mundane seem profound. Perhaps dmt etc are just so much stronger that you go from saying "have you ever thought about X" phenomenon, to "The nature of the universe is being revealed to me."

It simply opens your mind, and makes you more self aware. It is your own intelligence, but you are part of a larger organism, that is the from beyond feeling you get. Psychs dissolve the ego that is constructed from birth, the construct. Our ego is how we see ourselves in the construct we built. We are own protaganists, writing a story. Psychs break down presumptions, assumptions, judgements and contradictions that are created in the story we wrote to that point, and that character is our ego. So when you come back down, you literally are a different person, a better person. At least, if better can be defined as more honorable, less hypocritical, more humble. These have to be values going in though, that's why I say it's your own intelligence, you're sorting it out, as we all are, every day, but the psychs make you see so quickly because once you remove the ego, it's simply clear as day, how your path is in line with that ego person, and not in line with the person you imagined yourself to be.
Meditation does the same thing, but not as quickly. Though once mastered it is quick, and obviously more physically healthy.
The world needs more humility and Honor. More people should fo it.
    Peace

What people don't understand and I know this because I have experienced ni nirvana through marijuana. What it is is, you connect to your soul. You speak to you soul which in it's purest form is love. This is the thing that is very strong in children. Society bleeds this out of people and government does also. You can believe what is true to what you really see. You don't need this to get there. Speak from the soul. It separates you from your ego. The ego is in the brain. The soul lives in your heart. The conscious mind is collective. It is what our connection to the universe without ego. Ego comes from being in human flesh. The soul is what is the spiritual self of humans.

The difference is that most people are not actually conscious of the things that they “already know about themselves” until they confront them in the way that a psychedelic is able to present to you. Society and culture is mostly responsible for a human’s framework on their own consciousness. Psychedelics do not operate within ANY framework nor do they belong to any delegation of culture or society.
