Great advice but we would add a container for carrying extra gas and a small vacuum cleaner. We also had an electric fly swatter at which I became expert.
I wish we had a rotopax or whatever it’s called for some additional diesel, great tip! Vacuum cleaner too we use a ryobi one works well. Fly swatter is great tip too!

As far as getting around in Baja… one could just rent an SUV (like us) and simply beat the crap out of it… 😱… rental agencies never check tires or the under carriage! 😂🤣
Pesos are a must for tipping… Baja is a tip economy… gas ⛽️ station attendants, restaurants or anyone that is helpful or gives good service!

Good tips all around. Enough solar was our goal when we had our van built. We have 480 watts of solar on the roof, charging 810 AH worth of Battleborn batteries. Since our van came with Zamp solar panels which are plug and play, I devised a way to add two 100 watt panels into the system when we are camped in one place for several days for a total of 680 watts! So far, so good.

Those go treads are ripping! Gosh we were just in Iceland and they have all different kinds as well. Some were even square and in the middle of the road. Good that they had good insurance. Great tips. 🤙🤙🤙

I liked your video! Lots of good tips, but the FMM is not necessary if you are strictly driving in Baja. The entire of the Baja Peninsula is considered a "Zona Libre" aka FREE ZONE. You and your vehicle can travel inside Baja without having any special immigration permits OR temporary import permit for your vehicle. IF you go into the Mexican mainland, then YES, you need it, but if you are only in Baja, then it is NOT necessary. No need to spend the cash, or worry people about not having it if you are only going to Baja.

@@MathersOnTheMap Technically, you are correct, but it is not an enforceable action.
As of about 2 years ago, even the airports in Baja stopped issuing the paper copies of the FMM form, which before was required to fly out. Since there is zero immigration control in Baja, outside of the ports of entry (land, air and sea) and they stopped issuing the documents at the airports, it has become a voluntary tax, and it is completely unenforceable.
The only reason I am commenting about this is because I have seen people worry extensively about not having this form, to the point they have gone back to the border from Ensenada, or San Felipe, or even cut their trip short from Cabo thinking they would get arrested and have their stuff confiscated because of this . . . all of which is not the case.
I do not discourage people from getting the FMM form. By all means, do so if you want . . . just understand that NO ONE will ask you for it. All check points are staffed by either the Guardia Nacional (a federal police force), OR Mexican Military, neither of which has any jurisdiction over immigration.
I own a house in Todos Santos, which by the way, I highly recommend. I drive down at least 3 times a year and each time I stay at least 2 weeks. I fly down every couple of months; I've been doing this for about 20 years now; my first road trip to Cabo was in 1991; I built a house in 2004.
In ALL my travels, only once was I asked for an FMM form by a local police officer. He was fishing for a bribe; about 10 years ago. I told him that I did not need one since it's a zona libre . . . he laughed and said "Ok", and I was on my way. If anyone IS asking you for it, then it is probably an enterprising person fishing for a bribe. NEVER pay a bribe.

I had a gut feeling you were referring to enforcement, my parents met us in Cabo (flew in for a week) and they didn’t receive an FMM on arrival and wasn’t instructed too, nor was requested one on their flight home.
So I was wondering if it was tied to their flight just from SJD. I believe they don’t issue them for passengers flying out of Cancun too.
Good to know for the future though, We’ll be heading to the mainland in June so we’ll need one!!!
So no fancy shocks or struts? 5k lbs Sumo Springs are all you have in the rear and you're fine?
I’m thinking about getting struts in the back, but I’m not spending $5k for a rip kit or something similar. I guess we never had an upgraded suspension other than sumos and supers so I don’t know what I’m missing out on!
Where did you read that the sprinter can’t handle a 100 amp charge? I had 100 amp victron buck boost on my 2019 and luckily had no issues. On my 2021 I put the nations dual alternator on which charges at 150 amps at 24 volts which is equivalent to 300 at 12v. I just decided solar wasn’t for me but if you’re sitting for long periods I suppose it works. I don’t think people realize to the extent how a van is used makes such a difference. What works great for one person is horrible for someone else.

And I completely agree, but this video is for Baja which a ton of people boondock on the beach for days and ya don’t want to have to run your engine while parked so solar is the key for that, but if you’re driving a ton then it doesn’t matter. Jealous of that nations alternator!!!
