@@blacktiger974 Not quite. He could indeed delay a few seconds longer, and I could have delayed a bit too. If he played it well, we both wouldn't have gotten shots in the merge.
I like how well kicking the rudder works in a dogfight either to flip your plane around or to flip the wings at stall speeds. It always catches the enemy napping

@@AdamTheEnginerd It seems to me that the ideal glide speed is a couple dozen mph (or few dozen km/h) slower than the ideal climb speed, or rather, the ideal climb is a bit higher owing to a higher propeller efficiency at high speeds. For instance, the ideal climb speed for a P-51D-30 might be 190 mph or 306 km/h, but the ideal glide speed might be 150 mph or 241 km/h.
@@J7Handle Indeed you should be going slightly slower than your optimal climb speed for optimal glide! Not by a few dozen km/h though, more like 5%. But, I'm better off saying climb speed so that it's easy to remember and you get to your destination faster (higher rate of descent and speed).

@@J7Handle interestingly best climb also gives you the best loiter time in a glide, so it depends on whether your definition of ideal is to cover the most distance or to stay in the air the longest.

Moments like the "OOF hammerhead" at the end are what gives big part of the satisfaction and motivation to play (at least to me)
7-8 kill games where you slaughter enemies with medium effort are cool and all, but a 2 kill game with a amazing dogfight like yours beats that.

Adam I challenge you! Well I’m sure you’ll do really good with it, but could you fly out the MB.157 from the French tree?? People normally don’t fly it out due to the lack of ammo. I was wanting to see how much damage you can put out with 120 rounds of 20mm Hispano.

Flying the Sabres is what finally taught me how to save energy. It's not about how fast, but how smooth you fly, creating as much clean airflow that's possible.
Using this technique I was suddenly entering dogfights at top speed, and coming out alive going fast enough to immediately engage another target.
Turning as little as possible indeed.

What a coincidence, the first time I tested a mk2 was yesterday. It is surprising how it manages to reach over 650 kph in a level flight at low altitudes.

hi Adam why don't you ever zoom in when you shoot an enemy plane? Is zooming a bad habit?
Bad habit, restricts your field of view in a game where awareness is key, and zoom doesn't inherently increase accuracy, it's not COD.
For me it's a trade of awareness for target visibility

I have the local host so if I switch gears and the power decreases, I was too low. You can switch gears every 500m or so to see if you accelerate or decelerate. If you decelerate, you switched too low.

The first bit is exactly how I use the tempest I fly by the climbers at around 3800m at a really high speed, then let them chase me down to the deck, where I will just run away and my team will mop all of them up. I don't get a lot of kills this way but my team wins if they fall for it...
Yup. I end up doing that then getting kills too when my team dies haha.
Probably my favorite prop in the game..... It can do anything, even turnfight G.56s
G56 shrecks it in a dogfight, at high speed as well.

Could you fly mk24 spit? It faces jets but it's much easier to kill jets than props in my opinion, they als9 have a hard time keeping up with a mk24 at altitude

Yeah. Mk V is worse than the F4U4B in pretty much every way. Mk 2 at least is faster than F4U4B, but definitely turns worse.
First time flying this out and I had a lot of fun, until an AM-1 was going head on just he was super slow so I thought I was on his 6 but nope got tricked and took some M3s to the face :)

Hello there, what about playing some Yak-1B? Since there is no more problem with bombers (except for american B-34 and sweds) you can actually enjoy some dogfights with spits or a duel with P-39. Also would be interesting to see how you prefer to handle Yak that can both turn and run.

Every plane has a different optimal supercharger gear switch altitude. For the Tempest Mk II, it happens to be around 2km.

When you're in a plane that turns poorly but is faster than nearly everything else, a faster plane is scary when outnumbered since it'll force you to turn.

First off, you should toggle the option that says you don't need to hold down the throttle button to keep WEPing. That'll probably fix that issue.

Is there a simple answer to how you can effectively deal with P80s in the 262, I hate them so much and can never seem to kill them
F80A is pretty much a counter to Me262. Be aware and avoid getting them on your 6, and if they are on your 6 dive with them to high speed and try reversing them, 262 handles better at high speed (800+).

Gaijin reduced the margin you can use that kind of trick, honestly it's dangerous to do that now.
@@Schimml0rd in 109s when you decrease throttle prop pitch doesn't get adjusted properly and you get less thrust
Same happens when your engine gets damaged or you are going really slow. I might be wrong though I haven't done any tests or anything I just feel like that's how it is
How about flying the XP-50. This plane feels good again. Overheating is bad, but it's definitely a fun plane to fly (when not constantly in 4.7 matches, lol).

Maneuvering Energy Retention. Essentially it's a measure of how much energy (speed) an aircraft loses when maneuvering. Different aircraft will lose speed at different rates depending on their power, weight, wing, geometry, etc. I did some tests and made a video explaining it if you're interested: czcams.com/video/wLA8cspXbbE/video.html

Hey Adam, would you agree or disagree with this statement? Axis wins due to easier to use planes, easier to use guns, and have less bombers, but at most BR’s the allies actually have better, but often more difficult planes.
Hmm I'd say the ratio of useless to useful planes matters much more than the difference in guns and performance.

I think a lot of the players who broke off thought that you were turning better than them. I think this because tempest mk II is a rare sight, and many people might just assume it turns good since it is british.

Is it unrealistic that this plane stiffens up worse than Bf 109s and Fw 190s at high speed? I think it has a higher critical mach number (0.81 vs 0.75 or so for the germans)
Critical Mach number would only matter at much higher altitudes and speeds. It certainly shouldn't stiffen worse than Bf109s, but Fw190s stiffening less is more than reasonable.
I've been playing the mk v lately and I find that I can turn with 109s as long as we're both going over 400kph and 190Ds at most speeds (def not the go-to strategy but it can be fun to stunt on them in 1-on-1s) but I find it much harder to pull out of "oh shit I'm going to fast and not ripping is my number one concern" dives in both tempests than I do in 109s and 190s, and it's at those speeds where I figured you might reach the critical Mach number on the German planes but not the tempests.
On Bf109s at low altitude you'll rip before reaching your critical Mach number.
Yeah the tempest is still super fast. Some time ago they made it start overheating like a bitch whereas beforehand I could wep the entire match. The flaps used to be able to come out at 300mph too, then it could turn like a beast if you needed it to but now the flaps rip at over 270 at sea level. Not what it used to be but still Godly fast

AdamTheEnginerd yeah I loved the plane and still do. When I got it stock I was fighting F2H banshees in air RB and got my shit kicked in. Still love it even though it’s not quite what it used to be
