Nikon 50mm 1.8 AIS
Nikon 105mm 2.5 AIS
Zykkor 28mm 2.8
Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm 2.8-3.5
Nikon 50mm 2 Non-AI - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I love the way how you describe the lenses. More-more-more like this.
I got into old Olympuss lenses, its really fun
Well for me I too have Nikon Manual focus lenses on my digital models in which started out on the Fuji S3Pro, and S5Pro, and now I have the Nikon D2Xs, and D3, as most of my Manual Focus lenses were converted to AI mount as I also have the first issued Nikon 5cm Nikkor F/2.0 in which I have 3 versions of the 50mm Nikkor F/2.0 lens as I still think that it is the SHARPEST lens that Nikon ever made. So it is easy access to use them on the digital bodies, as now using the Fuji A Mirrorless Models XE1, and XPro1 via Fuji X to F mount adapter, and happy to say that using the meter in the camera that it is good to used the Stop Down Metering feature. Now I am using Carl Zeiss Jena 42mm mount threaded lenses via 42mm to Nikon F, and Fuji X mount adapters, As that you mentioned of the Vivitar lens as the Name Vivitar is Not a Lens maker, No they were made either from the companies of: "Tokina, Soligor, Kiron, Tamron, and Cosina mixed." And the lens that is the Zykkor, That is possible made from a company called Makion Or Ricoh.
this video make the lenses price skyrocket
I also have the Nikon 50mm/f1.8 in my bag all the time. But my new best friend is the Helios 44-2....... 58mm/f2.0. This lens is just great. The way this lens handles light is awesome. You have to give it a try. A very cinematic feel and look.
Very interesting. I own all of these wonderful vintage Nikkor lenses. I fully agree with you about the 105 f/2.5 --- I also think it's my favorite lens of all time. Very nice video.
Well done, nice explanation. Clear and detailed review. Thanks.
The pancake and 28mm 2,8 , AI-S , very sweet lenses indeed !
Great vid, I love shooting with old film camera lenses
Interesting and informative video. I like your perspective and that it comes from a pro
Great video. I am just getting into a new hobby. I have the T6i and I am trying to find the right adapter for some vintage lenses from my late fathers camera. Thanks for the video. Very professional.
For my my vinatge lens I have been using are Jupiter 8 F2 5cm, Jupiter 11 F4 135mm, Pentacon Auto 1.8/50mm Intastar F3.50/50mm and a Pentacon F2.8/100mm. I have been mainly using the Jupiter 8 and the Pentacon Auto 1.8/50mm as my main vintage lens on my Canon 700D.
I'm glad I bought the Nikon 50mm f1.8 AIS for $35 (with camera) 6 years ago in mint condition!! My mom was so pissed. lol but I will have the important lenses when I get my first DSLR.
Konica and Yashica also produced some great lenses. The secret lenses for me are the YUS 28mm ƒ2.8 & YUS 135mm ƒ2.8 -- YUS stand for Yashica US and only three lenses were made for the C/Y mounts. If you want to shell out some extra money there are the Contax C/Y lenses and the Leica R mount lenses. I use a Konica 28mm ƒ3.5 and two of my favorite standard lenses are the Konica 50mm ƒ1.7 and 57mm ƒ1.4. Another secret hero is Mamiya and their m42 lenses.
My favourites are the Nikkor P 105mm f2.5 lens and the Nikkor ai s-c 50mm 1.4 on my Nikon D300s or my all black Nikkormat ft2 film camera.
My favourite lenses are the Minolta 50mm 1.4 it has character, and the 250mm mirror cause you don't get such lenses today
great info! can the nikon non ai lenses be used on cheaper Sony mirrorles?
I have been using these on my D700 FX since I bought it I think I have three AF lenses.
I have a bunch of Nikon glass since my film days.
But then I picked up a Sony Alpha 6000 for dirt and now I am buried up to my eyeballs in 20mm, 35mm, 50mm to 200mm lenses of different brands and mounts all primes. The f1.8 Nikon Ai or Ai-s is some sweet glass the 105mm Ai-s f2.5 is sharp as it comes reason they still fetch good money to this day.
what do you think of the old nikkor 24 mm 2.8 ?
Nice video! Makes me want the Nikon 105mm 2.5.
+AdaptedAlpha Thanks! I've moved to a new channel, check it out here! czcams.com/channels/Jm2TgUqtK1_NLBrjNQ1P-w.html
for the how, how do you prefocus it? thanks.
I have this vintage 58MM Vivitar 75-300 MM 1:5.6 MC lens and I was wondering if I could use it on my Nikon d3100. Is it possible?
I have a m4/3 camera sensor, what is the lowest focal length I can get without vignetting on vintage 16mm film lenses?
As a Nikon user i want to tell every one here that nikon has only two mounts after 1959. The nikon F mount and the Nikon 1 mount. Every Nikon F mount lens fits on the smaler D5xxx and D3xxx Cameras. For the bigger bodys like D7xxx and D750 ect you need a AI or AI-s Version. However, if you have the propper tools you can convert pre-AI Lenses also. Which means grinding a little part from the aperture ring so the body knows the value of the aperture.
greetings from Berlin
The 50 mm 1.8, are there several versions of it for manual focus, I feel a bit lost lol
what ones do you suggest for a GH2? By the way congratulations for the great video.
Awesome 😎
Hey there, Im looking at buying either the nikon 105mm 2.5 ai or the nikon 135mm 2.8 ai. I have the nikon d3300 and as Ive read, it wont meter. Does that mean Id have to set my own exposure rate and will it be hard to get great, sharp pictures on these lenses? Im relatively new to photography but shoot in manual mode most of the time. Thanks!
Oi, NX1, I have an nx1000! I love my camera, what lens do you have for it? I only have 2 lens, the 18-55 OIS(3.5-7) and 50-200(4-6.5) OIS.
Recently been doing a lot of research into vintage lenses. It probably started after I heard about the crazy swirly bokeh effect a few old soviet lenses produced, and it's quickly snowballed into half my wish list being comprised of old manual lenses. It also takes a lot of stress off my bank account with the prices being so long given the quality.
Nice lenses, I also have some vintage lenses like the minolta 50mm f1.7, 28mm f2.8 and 135mm f2.8. My only problem is that the aperture is not smooth. Is there a possibility to make it smooth?
And also an other question: How hard is to use a these lenses on a steadycam? How are you making the footage steady enough while you still 'hold' the lens while focusing? I'm a beginner videographer, who just got asked to shoot some weddings the next few month, and i'm not sure how can i make smooth shots with these lenses. Can you please give me some tips?
This video was so helpful.. Thank you so much. Do you know if vintage Nikon camera lenses still fit on new Nikon cameras? I have a D7000 . I think I am going to hunt down exactly what you suggested in this video, I love the way the videos look, especially the wedding one.. So retro and yet the quality is excellent..
Vintage Nikon lenses are compatible with all F mount Nikon cameras. If you look at the camera body cover it should say.
I have since found out, thank you anyway though.
great video!
Thank you Deepak Sharma! We are working on getting more very soon!
Excellent primer on vintage lenses. BTW, the Nikkor Non-AI 35mm/F2 lens checks all the same boxes as your Non-AI 50mm/F2.
+Marc B. Thanks! I'm in the process of making content for a new channel, which you can check out here if you're interested czcams.com/channels/Jm2TgUqtK1_NLBrjNQ1P-w.html
What adapter would be needed to mount the Nikon 50mm f1.8 AIS onto a Nikon D5500 DSLR?
none! it should pop right on.
none but you would probalby only be able to use it in manual only
Should all of these be shot on only a full frame camera? Or will an APS-C or M43 be fine?
Do more damage to the floor LOL. Good educational video . I have a vintage Pentax 50 mms lens , it's sharp as hell. It cost 20 Canadian dollars. Could you please recommend a 50mm vintage lens for a Nikon D3X . I think it must be full framed . Thanks .
You just got a new subscriber
hi arnt the focal lenghts diffrent??
Thanks for this video. Could you tell me how I get such as lenses I live in Germany. Maybe could you write me some site. Thank you for your help
from my own experience
1- canon fd 55mm f1.2 ssc , i bought it for 85$ ( it is heavy but legendary )
2- nikon ais 105mm f1.8 , it is expansive today too around 300$ = absolute beast for portraits
3- zeiss flakton 35mm f2.4 , excellent for around 120$
nowdays everybody wants to get into the vintage lens wagon, but they are not so cheap anymore
Yup. Supply and demand. And the demand for the better ones is going up.
Depends on where you look, and what you buy. Zeiss makes some great lenses. And some really crappy ones too, though because of the name, they are ALL expensive. Canon FD SSC breech mount lenses are all cheap, and most of them are good/very good. (Not the 200mm f4!) My 50 f1.4 SSC marginally outperforms my Zeiss Planar and Summicron M. The 100mm f2.8 easily trashes the Nikon 105 f2.5. My Canon FL 55mm f1.2 outperformed one pitiful example of the Zeiss OTUS at all stops except wide open. These can be found under $200..........
I am possibly looking at getting a Canon camera as my first ever DSLR for video and want to invest in some vintage lenses when I'm looking for one what are some key factors I should look for or ask about these lenses? Also could I use cross platform lenses possibly use ones from Nikon or other brands with the proper adapter? Lastly I was also looking into a micro 4/3 camera specifically the G7 would vintage lenses work also and is there any adjustments needed to compensate?
micro 4/3 isn't great for adapting bc of the 2x crop factor. Canon is ok, you can adapt m42 and nikon and probably more. Best would be a fullframe mirrorless aka a sony a7.
I have the same nikon fm film camera just like you in black. Can I use a tamron lens for my fm on a more modern nikon d5200?
+Matthew Portman yeah, you should be able to! I have a new channel by the way, check it out here! czcams.com/channels/Jm2TgUqtK1_NLBrjNQ1P-w.html
can i put dslr lens in slr
csn you telme the name of the adaptor i want to bay it
Hi, I have a Nikon D7000 and I want use a lens Nikon Nikkor 28mm like you show in the video. can you tell me what can I do , or what can buy to use this lens in my camera. thanks
you should be able to mount just about any nikon lens on there without an adapter as long as it's newer than the "pre-ai" or "non-ai" designation, or if it's an invasive fisheye.
I have many Samsung lenses NX but i have now a fujifilm x-T1, is there a adapter to use my NX lenses on the fuji X system?
It is a great help for me and many other users, because Samsung has stopt his NX serie.
No, sorry, you're better off selling the NX lenses and buying FX or legacy manual focus lenses.
Do you think a non- AI needs an adapter to mount on 5500 DSLR?
I am saving up for an A6000 and am frankly not looking forward to buying all the adapters for my Pentax, m42, and minolta lenses. Also my main lens is going to be a Carl Zeiss planar F1.4 50mm HFT for Rollei. I've even considered getting a Alpha A5000 but I simply cannot survive without a damn viewfinder.
could these mount to a d3200 with the proper adaptor ?
you'll be able to use some lenses with adapters, but you won't be able to get infinity focus with others. it's much b harder to adapt old lenses to DSLRs than it is to put them on mirrorless cameras.
I'm 12 and what is this?
What video camera did you shoot this on...wow nice!
thanks! I shot it on my a7s.
My Nikkor Q 105 2.5 I can't find,vintage,not obsolete..
Why does my series e 28mm f2.8 have rabbit ears?.
I just noticed after ignoring it thinking it don't matter on Digi..
Shoot first!.
i have vintage lence 50mm.f1.4.any one known thah can fit it d600 nikon body.or i have to buy adaper.tq
Hi Wong Lin which Vintage lens do you have if it's a Nikon it should fit
Just make sure that the AF Pin Cam is IN!!! Or Leave the AF mode switch on OFF or Manual Setting otherwise a Non AF lens like your 50mm F/1.1.4 can Damage the AF Cam Pin. SO leave that AF Cam IN!
Isn't the 105 is AI version? The AIS version has built-in hood
I hate overlays who want to catch for newer video or newer channel! Especially when they are not dissapering.
in all honestly though to better match the frame you would get from the original lenses its better in my view to use a full frame camera :-p
u forgot 50mm f/1.8 E series
I have lots of vintage glass and unless you go name brand, you might as well keep the $20. Toyo is an especially weak brand. But all my vintage Nikon stuff is decent.
. . . is that Samford University? #almamater
Don't trust KEH because they screwed up my order for the Nikon 100mm E Series lens by saying it is in excellent condition and it had some funguses and other issues on the lens. I had to return them more than a couple of times. The definition for vintage is wrong because there are vintage lenses from the 1990s that are autofocus lenses. Peace, Flood!
Ditch the music PLEASE! My favourite vintage lens is the Olympus OM 50mm f 1.4.
Can dslrs accept 3rd party lenses?
people always try vintage lenses on mirrorlessen but not on dslrs why is that?v
Mirroless cameras often have a much shorter flange-distance than dslr's which makes adapting other lenses much easier. On a DSLR you can only use Lenses with an adapter which have a bigger flange distance than your DSLR. When you want to adapt lenses with a shorter flange distance than your DSLR its very tricky, usually you have to modify your camera (Thats why its very hard to adapt canon ef-Lenses to Nikon but easier to adapt nikon-lenses to canon)... also mirrorless cameras often have very helpful options for manual focussing (focus peeking,...)
derbeder I have some old lenses for my canon 5d mk3 and they work absolutely great! :-)
Is it just me or does this guy sound like a young Brad Pitt? Not that it matters, still a great video.
Damn... My Nikon d3100 doesn't have the shoot without lens option... my dumbass is missing out!!!!
The 105mm f2.5 Nikkor may be “legendary” but it’s not really all that terribly good. I own two of them. A non AI and an AIS. They have the same optical formula and perform alike. The 105mm f1.8 AIS (though more expensive) performs far BETTER. So does the 100mm f2.8 Canon SSC breech mount lens, which can be found on eBay for around $75.00. This largely ignored Canon lens also EASILY outperforms either of my Nikon 105 f2.5 lenses. In short, the 2.5 is simply not as good as many people seem to think they are........
Do you think they are dangerously radioactive?
what!? please explain o.O
I don't really know , how big the danger is!. camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Radioactive_lenses
No, they are not _dangerously_ radioactive. Yes, _some_ vintage lenses are weakly radioactive (glass contains thorium dioxide - ThO2), but the doses you get from them will blend into your yearly dose of ionizing radiation from natural sources. Use them as you will, just store them away from immediate vicinity of areas where you spend large chunks of time (like don't put them directly under your pillow) and don't break the lens/glass.
Ok thank you!
🙈😂😂😂😂 vintage
This is sad!
Anyone (mostly who bought Sony camera) now a photographer and will explain "Vintage Lenses: What, How and Why?". Aperently it even helps someone and 65,000 people watched it... Next step Utube will teach people how to open a can of pop...
lol Samsung DSLR? wtf
