    He rode really well for a scooter I am impressed with the clearance!!, his problem was....too fast approaching that corner and the scooter was heavier need more distance and his tyres was struggling to reduce the speed, his abs was doing a great job until the bend...u can't leave it late braking like sport bikes, this scooter handling better than a cruiser, I am still impressed.

      @rbcapbustditto Před 4 lety

      Yeah but if U paid attention, there was an unusual amount of Sandy- gravel at the bend. Anyone could have slipped there. By the time he realized it his tires were already in the funk. He should have slowed down before that shoulder and rode the outside but that's a hard thing to anticipate from his pov. That slip was almost guaranteed, somebody has to clean that shoulder, pretty sandy.

    More of 'slide' than a "crash." But good that he wasn't even hurt.

    Did you ever noticed that when people crash their motorcycle they are very quick to jump up and jump back on and get going? It’s sort of as though they are embarrassed. Anyway thankfully this fella was not injured and it’s a lesson to all of us to slow it down a touch and save yourself from injury.

    Guess he learned this is not a sport bike and you can't drive it like one. They are awesome for what they do, but as an experienced scooter driver I'll be the first to admit they don't corner well at high speeds. I didn't expect him to go down where he did as it wasn't much of a bend, but looks like he hit some loose gravel or sand so it could have happened to any bike.

      Its a fast straight followed by a off camber left. brakes faded. many have gotten in there hot and nearly did the same as him. and he drove it way better than any scooter before.

    I bought one of these c650 GT's this year a 2020. Love it. It is a great scooter with lots of power and comfort. Pretty expensive though as scooters go. I dumped mine twice at low speed because the thing is heavy and I let it lean too far. Except for those two incidents I just wish the winter would end so I could get back out on it.

    Gravel on the road was a culprit which we have to avoid. If he had noticed the sand at earlier straight, he would have steered close to midway at this corner.

    Wow in fact funny accident. I did not see it coming. I am going to get mine next friday. How good a scooter is it is nog built for speed and racing. You can not compare it with a sport motor. It is built for cruising and town. But still a good video my compliments!

    Except for the "oops" moment, the scooter rider did quite well in holding his own against several motorcycles.
    There were 10 other bikes, apparently all of them were sport bikes, and his scooter.
    3 of the other bikes left ahead of him, he caught and passed #3, and was gaining on #2 when he dumped it. No other bike passed him while he was moving.
    My hat's off to this rider who showed that everything is relative, and some things that are thought to not have a chance will sometimes fool you.
    And thankfully he was riding in full protective gear. Having a good case of road rash is no fun.

  • @spikey2740
    @spikey2740 Před 4 lety +1

    Not bad for a "SCOOTER" - aren't they built for mundane tasks such as running errands, picking up groceries, etc? He was among 8 motorcycles, started 4th and worked his way to 3rd, and was gaining ground on the lead riders. Some of the curves he looked a little awkward in, as if he wasn't nearly as familiar with the road as some other riders.

    You rarely see good scooter riders riding their '' bike '' like racers, and from that my respect that you can keep up with the group of sport bikes. Scooters are built for the city or to drive back and forth between the cities, I notice that every day in the motorbike (Kawasaki Z1000) drive through the city, with a scooter it would be more pleasant.

    all of these idiotic comments about handling of maxi scoots are just that, idiotic. this turn was well within the performance envelope for any two wheeled conveyance of any configuration. this guy low sided because he locked up the tire in a place where he had low grip because of gravel/dirt on the road. next time he won't get so close to the edge or try to lean over so far on a loose surface. if he had been on the inside of the turn this would not have happened.

    • @hussarsla7178
      @hussarsla7178  Před 5 lety

      Had been beating on the brakes the whole time. There was some brake fade. That was the fastest straight and he was a little late on the brakes. Tipped it in but just barely ran out of road/grip. You win some, you lose some.

      according to the rider, front brakes over heated , lost strength he had to compensate with rear brakes cause he was running wide in that corner , and lost the rear leaning to take the corner. you can see him having a moment following the red CBR before passing him . scooter is comfy but brakes endurance is not for canyons...

      It looked to me more like loose sand or gravel in that spot, but if he hit the back brakes hard on that bend with no front brakes, then yes, that would do it too. Most bike racers will never use the back brake unless its for special control moves which can take a lot of skill.

  • @hdidane00

  • @mandirigma82
    @mandirigma82 Před 5 lety

    For one thing, if you are new to the scooter, the lean is not the same as on big bikes. Because of your legs or knees theres nothing to hold on. Theres no gas tank. So if you want to learn how make that lean, watch ho filipinos domit on those dangerous skinny tires. I am talking about body positioning. It is not the same a regular motorcycle. Imride a ninja 1000. I was with the best on twisties, despite of illegally driving on oncoming roads and left them, they earned my respect. They were driving a souped up 150cc. Watch how they manage their turns..

    I hate to say it but you were riding the bike to fast. The breaks were not as good as the other bikes. Plus it's not a sport bike. The time of day had something to do with the crash as well. Bright sunlight and shadows can cause you to overcook a curve really fast. From what I've heard you've got a nice bike. If you want to ride aggressively get a sport bike. BMW Makes several nice sport bikes. Save the scooter for what it is made for. Take your girlfriend for a ride in the canyons or to the beach. Go on a bike camping trip with other couples, but sport bike rides with the guys will tear up your bike. Take care and be safe. VAUGHN

    Brakes on a motor scooter fade away much sooner than on a motorbike, I have a t-max 530 and a KTM RC8 so I know, that you can drive as quick on twisties does not mean you can keep up with this pace.

  • @Outdoor-Rider
    @Outdoor-Rider Před 5 lety +1

    scooters tend to loose grip when cornering while taking gas down, scooters don't behave like motorbikes do. but he also cut curves with high speed. He has to learn how curves have to be driven with a scooter, this is not the same as a motorcycle. I think he lost grip on the front wheel while aproaching to the little curve with loose surface material (sand, little stones or something like that). Keep healthy and learn cornering with maxiscooters, it is much more difficult to handle, than riding a motorbike).

      that's not true...1994 got my first bike CBR900RR and had it for many fun years...I rode R1, 1198S, 1199S.....now I live in Taiwan and got myself a 2015 Yamaha Tmax 530. The first time I rode on it and I was overwhelm and amazed what a great sport scooter, it gave me the confident no other previous bike can beat (I meant speed within 200km...it can only go that fast lol)....Perhaps C650GT is not up to the beat for the twisties but......Tmax don't let the scooter look fool you..... lol

    • @pengasus
      @pengasus Před 7 lety

      You are probably feeling the speed more on the scooter then you ever did on the super sports bikes. It's the comfy sitting position that makes you feel like you are going a million km's an hour, especially in corners. But in reality, you are not... But i'll take your word it being a quick scooter but can't really compare to sports bike.
