Spyderco Paramilitary 2 (PM2) easy knife sharpening on the Slide Guide

  • Today I'm sharpening my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 and demonstrating how to use the slide guide. For those who want to know - the steel is CPM S30V, and I touched the edge up with the 1100, 2300, and 4000 grit Diamond Matrix stones.
    In this video I show that you can sharpen the knife with as little as 1 finger on the handle. I really just did that to demonstrate how much assistance the slide guide and magnet provide. But when I'm sharpening in real life I usually hold the handle the same way I normally would but VERY lightly.

    I love that blade! When I got mine the bevel was slightly uneven. Over time by using the edge pro apex the bevels are now even. Thanks for your awesome products and service..

    Gonna have to pick up one of the slide guides, looks like they work well.

    I've only had a chance to try the Slide Guide with my Para 3 so far and I agree, when used with the magnet the blade is nearly "locked" in place. I like it a lot.
    I also appreciate the feel of the machined thumb nuts as opposed to the plastic ones.
    Can't wait to use it some more.

      Travis, yes the machined aluminum nut is really nice.

    Wow this combo will be great!! It seems like it will reduce fatigue and help keep the edge placement consistent. This should help with common knife in the edc rotation.

      Pete - yes, it's really helpful with both.

    H iCody and Ben and crew! Thanks again for all your great service. I like the slide guide attachment. Can you still use it on long knives if you leave it on and keep the three points in a straight line?
    The end part is cool where you're using the knife!

    for a small knife, can this take the place of the small knife attachment?

    It doesn't say your name anywhere. What is your name? Your voice reminds me of Eric Wharehiem's. that's a good thing I assure you. I love my edge pro.

    Solution: buy more shit. Nahh ima keep it freehand

    • @s4mpson
      @s4mpson Před 3 lety

      I mastered freehand after 20 years of virtually daily practice, it wasn't until relatively recently I was given a used edge pro apex as a 'hack' project type thing. After extensively using the EP, modding it, making my own tools for it, modding tools/accessories I purchased, I can tell you I'm a considerably more complete sharpener at this point and I would put my edges up against -anybody- without hesitation. You simply cannot beat a jig for consistency in angle/contact, period. Without consistency your edges are trash.

    Edge pro is a rickety plastic piece of shit....at least as mine continually broke I was able to implement repairs and upgrades until I built my own from scratch. It makes edge pro look like childs toys. At least their stones....suck as well....BorideT2 ..Chosera....Naniwa.....I wasted a lot of money on EP shit
