    A bit of cleaning to do but lots of fun in that. Looking forward to seeing you transform it.

      I guess the cleaning is all part of the maintenance, unfortunately. It should be a great boat once it is all cleaned up. I may even bump into you in Sydney Harbour one of these days.

    This will be great to clean, fix up, and upgrade with new stuff. Congrats! Appears you will need a new anchor rode and fridge. Unfortunately, those aren't usually cheap. For upgrades, I would go for a portable generator to run your hob, tv, micro and recharge batteries, phones etc while at anchor, a new stereo with a remote you can keep on you. A home water filter kit for your sinks. So much more. Its all great fun.

      Thanks for your comment. The anchor rode will definitely be the first purchase. The portable generator is a great idea, i will have to look into them and see how much they are.

    I had a Bayliner Ciera 2450 for about 15 years which is pretty much identical to this boat minus the 2 feet marketing tacked onto the length in later years to make it sound bigger. It was a great little boat but I wouldn't consider it a good weekender boat for more than 2 people. There is very little room in the cabin. If somebody is making something in the 'kitchen', there's no enough room for another person to pass going to/from the front table. The front v-berth doubles as the dinette area. If you need to use the front berth, you have to take the table down and set-up the berth. In the morning, you have to then put all the bedding away and convert it back to a table. It's really quite a PITA and gets old pretty quickly. The lack of counter space in the 'kitchen' was also a big drawback, you run out of space very quickly, the more people on board the worse it becomes. Also, the v-berth isn't super comfortable to sleep in. The v-shape makes it difficult for 2 people to sleep since they converge at the point. Secondly, it's not perfectly flat, it angles downwards towards the rear making it uncomfortable to sleep with your head towards the rear due to blood being pulled towards your head. On the other hand, the mid-cabin was a great place to sleep. It's roughly queen sized bed is nice and roomy although you always end up with carry on stuff stored under there so it doesn't end up being as big as you'd think. Storage is very limited on this boat which really limits how much crap you can take with you which also limits how long you can stay out. If there's only 2 people that are weekending on the boat, it's really a terrific boat. Any more than that and it's inherent limitations start to become annoying.

      There is actually a 245 at the marina. I was having a look at it today and from what i could see it looked almost identical. I was quite surprised at how little difference there was.
      As for the weekender comment, generally there will only be 1 or 2 of us staying on the boat over night so it seems like it will be more than big enough for that, anymore than 2 and i would agree it would be pretty cramped.

      This layout is offered in so many express cruiser lines. I’ve been considering a Sea Ray 260 or the 26’ offering from Four Winns. Just my wife and I, and we’d sleep aft and leave the V-dinette in place, so no issues there. Either a generator or one helluva lithium setup will be required in our climate (no AC, no first mate).

      @@melodymakermark It's a great size for a couple to spend a weekend + out on the water. Power is always the issue when spending extended periods of time out on the water. Just having the fridge running continuously eats up a lot of battery, let alone the stereo, cabin lighting, and keeping an anchor light on all night. I had 2 batteries in my Bayliner and I'd still need to run the engine to recharge the battery, usually in the morning then again to top it off for over night. I now have a 30' Doral with a bunch of creature comforts including a generator and cabin AC/Heat (I've needed the heat a couple of times over my 10+ day long Memorial Day outings). I have a 3kW generator and it eats quite a bit of fuel. In fact, I use more fuel running the generator than I do the engines. I have 3 batteries on this boat, would like to add a 4th. I put a couple of solar panels on it last year that do a good job of keeping the batteries up while running the radio and both fridges as long as it's nice and sunny.

    Come on! Good condition 🤔 Bimini and clears need replacement, head liner inside water damaged, new chain, no stove to use on the water, fridge not working, boat internal and ext filthy, instrument panel you say may not work and you bought a petrol Mercruiser fuel guzzler . Gee I hope you didn’t pay anymore than $20k for it because you need to spend a lot to bring it up to a decent boat. And no genset .

    • @BALO.Marine
      @BALO.Marine  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I guess it is all about perspective. When i compare the canvas on this boat to the canvas on my last boat, it is in good condition. There is repairs to be made, but i don't think replacing the whole bimini and all the clears is necessary. There is definitely water damage on the headliner which is a shame but I'm sure will clean up better than it looks right now. The whole boat is dirty inside and out in the video but it is already looking 1000x better after being cleaned and polished by myself last week.
      As for the motor, I wanted the fuel guzzler motor. I wanted a big change from my old boat which couldn't get over 5-6knot at full throttle.
      I certainly didn't over pay for this boat, but i completely agree that she is far from perfect.
