I have a cockateil as well, and also a lot of figures. As a bird owner/anime fan I recomend you move your figures away from the cage especially the ones near the top of it at the play area. Why? I found out the hard way.
Birds love to take craps on things that you love :'D
-Sicko- I have a parakeet, my figurines are well away from where she is, however if I don’t keep an eye on her she likes to fly and land on top of my snow halation nico figurine and chew on her twin tails

It's great you got a hand tamed one. I found a wild one in my backyard and I've been taken care of him for months. I have a feeling you've done great research to treat your cockatiel right! ^^

He’s adorable :0!! I have a hand reared and a tame rescue and tamed birds are like your best friends they are absolute attention hogs. Also found that hand reared birds need a lot of exposure to different things, so while he’s young introduce him to a lot of things! Mine really didn’t know how to be a ‘bird’ when I brought him home 😅 also I suggest free flighting or teaching him to wear a harness if you want to take him outside ^^
Also I loved how your bird jumped onto your hand; that's so cute! I remember my hand-raised cockatiel being like that when we got her. All the resources I was reading said to leave them in the cage for a few days to let them get used to their surroundings, but my bird just wanted to hang out with me. The day we got her, she legit fell asleep in my lap while I did Spanish homework.

Just as a FYI, you may already know this. Cockatiels love paper (to rip apart), human hair to play with, and scritches. Some cons are that cockatiels with clipped wing may develop mild depression or an attitude, the other thing is try not to let Yuki too close to your dogs because they may attack the precious birb! Playing my ps vita all day as I was sick and about to have surgery. Gizmo begs for attention, I stop. He then bites me and walks away so I go back to my game. Next thing I know the little shit crapped and flung it at me then screamed at me for more attention. I mean you could've come up to my face like normal but okay xD
If i font let my birds out they will SIT in their FOOD bowl and start digging and all the food goes outside rhe cage and my mom yells at me-😂✋
When their preening themselves they feel comfortable and safe so your doing great 💕💕

My friend has a hand raised cockatiel and it's an absolute sweetheart.
I remember when I bought my second cockatiel, which is a male, he was constantly walking in his little container that the people put him in gently and peaking through the holes of the container. You could hear his feet lol so cute. I love the little dinosaur noises!

I have had a cockatiel for a couple years now, and my parents told me that apparently, boy cockatiels tend to chirp more than girls, so that might help with the gender if you haven found out if it is a girl or boy yet

This set up!!! I’m a crazy bird lady, so I know wayyy too much about birds. This is probably the best set up I’ve ever seen a first time bird owner have. I’m so happy to see somebody actually taking care of their bird!!

USA: I had a 4 hour trip to get my cockatiel and the breeder was breeding out of her trailer in a trailer park.

I bought an untame lovebird in November, and she has only become tame as of yesterday!! I’m so happy, although it was a lot of work. Good idea getting a hand tame bird!! Yuki looks so happy with you!

I did find it funny that you said 30 minutes was a long drive, when I'll have to drive 2 and a half hours there and the same time back to get my cockatiels (I would've gotten them by now, but Corona).
I was crying throughout this video because my baby boy cockatiel Tangy died recently and it was on my birthday too. He was such a crazy little guy who would jump everywhere and chew on everything! I'm still not over him but all I can wish for is you and Yuki to have lots of fun and that he/she stays healthy! ^^

I had a wonderful cockatiel named Buddy. Got him when I was 16. He lived 28 years. He was a talker and when we uncovered him in the morning he always said “pretty little sweetheart”.
