  • What happens when your horse is getting the WRONG LAMINITIS TRIM?
In this #ItsNotRocketScience lesson Lindsay Setchell takes to her iPad to show you some images of a horse who is suffering with laminitis and the wrong trim.
This owner put up a plea for help in our new FB group, 'The Phoenix Way: Path 2 Hoof Health', because she knew she wasn’t getting the right advice for her horse - he just wasn’t getting better.
Lindsay guides you through the problems with these hooves and explains the right trim this horse needs.
👉 Good News: we’ve now put one of our HM Barefoot Professionals in place with this owner so crossed fingers her beloved horse will now begin to recover - finally.

Videos like this where you can see all the nitty gritty details during lecture are so helpful and important, I hope you keep these up! Thank you!

What an excellent, clear and informative video. The desperate toe trimming and leaving heels high on laminitics has never made sense to me - the classic 'laminitic stance' tells us all we need to know about where the pain is. X-rays together with easily seen stretched damaged inflammed laminae tell all who stop and think, that it's not P3 that moves but the wall that's growing abnormally. Presumably, the 'ski tip' on P3 grows in an effort to have more bone in position for supporting weight. I so so hope some vets and farriers and their teachers at the training institutions see this video. 🙂

My horse has very sore soles and swelling in the shoulder area. I bought the Cavallo hoof boots and tried numerous supplements to no avail. To my knowledge, there is no floundering but that does stand in a slight laminitis stance at times. Chewing up the Cavallo hoof boots. The front hooves are growing only slightly. Needs help as to what treatment can be beneficial 😢.
