- In this video from Nichols Paint and Fab in Watseka IL, I check out a 1946 Chevrolet Pickup Truck that they are building while it's still in bare metal. This is a very special project they are building for a California Police Officer that was injured in the line of duty. This 1946 Chevrolet Hot Rod Truck is going to be driven by hand controls ..Nichols Paint and Fab is also going to incorporate some other features to make it so that this client can take full advantage of all this truck has to offer. There are a ton of body modifications made to this 1946 Chevrolet truck and being in bare metal, you think you would be able to see where all the modification were made....You can see a couple that will be addressed before going into paint and body...But most, even in bare metal...You can't see...Justin Nichols of Nichols Paint and Fab tells Me that they are shooting to have it ready to debut Spring of 2023...I hope in time to debut it at the 2023 ScottieDTV Dirty Dozen that is part of the 2023 Pigeon Forge Rod Run...So stick around!!!...No matter where this 1946 Chevrolet Hot Rod Truck from Nichols Paint and Fab comes out at...I'm sure it's going to be a hit...Check it out!!!

Simpley stunning ,the metal mods an work is crazy,like u said Scottie shoot clear on it..an to be able too make so that officer can hand drive controls..over the top..tks for sharing another top notch shop

You can't shoot clear coat directly on to bare metal.... However, you can shoot "clear basecoat" or "clear intercoat", and then shoot clear coat on top of that. I want to build this truck now!
Change a few things tho. Damn this is nice.

That's another great build by Nichols. Kathy's dad, and her brother are retired Police officers, her cousin, and her cousin's husband are currently detectives. Some of my fellow racers are serving in law enforcement, as well. Big thanks to Nichols for this one.

A 46 has been my favorite since I owned one. That’s a beautiful example! I would say that I’m not a fan of 50’s rear fenders. I’d like to see it with the matching rear fenders. But, it’s not mine so I guess it doesn’t matter.

What an awesomw build; cool chop, nice stance, bare metal look works well. So many things like how the wheels are tucked inside fenders, just all around showstopper. Thanks bud this one's a 10!

My first paint job was on a 46 two tone red black Tan in the interior. With the old gun 20 gal compressor single stage should took a squeegee moped the body filler I thought had it smooth I primed it saw hundred more digs. They were happy in the end that all that matters.

SMASHED it outa the ball park with that one they did. Eh Scotty? just a shame there is no bow tie on the tailgate to break up that vast smooth area there. That Mrs Nicholls lady sure could have taken care of a detail like that!

I see some on here think it should be cleared. Me not so much. I see it a crazy Aqua color or a bright green of some sort. A color that would catch your eye from 50 yards away. But it does look good that way.
Color hasn't been decided yet...But it won't be just cleared...
