@@koreanpathfinder what? you can kill the man but not the fart? lmao :V
Ya
The thing is, their songs are "joke songs" and all that, but they're really. Really good songs. Amazing.
Where are they now? Do they make new songs or they stopped?
@@nerminali3692 I haven't seen any new activity in years, I'm sorry to say.
Actually, a very powerful, multi layered social commentary has been conveyed through the lyrics, story and melody.(maybe I am seeing what I want to see)
@@aeshantiwari284 you must be really smart.
I mean it doesn't really matter if it's a comedic song or not. Music is music, you can't just put something on a lower pedestal just because the lyrics is not serious. So I don't think it's fair to put music and humout in opposition like "it's funny but despite that it's good" Do you expect joke songs to be bad? End of the day, that's just my oppinion.
It's 2023 and I find myself coming back to this video often because it reminds me of a nice time in my life. Always makes me smile.
When did you see it first?
@@joppekim in 2014
@@JoJo-es9yd Ah cool, me in 2016. It does bring nostalgia, that's for sure.
Same I’ve just discovered it in 2023 though and I can’t stop playing it!
It's one of the best Ylvis. I love it. I wish I could have a Turkish perspective on it, for I now think if it doesn't (even accidently) fall on some offensive stereotypes, racism and orientalism.
How did I miss this when it came out in 2014? Epic song. Epic Video.
andyisyoda Andy?!
@@thebackyard7661 Why is on literally every music video I watched the last hour a comment of a Minecraft YTer I subbed too...
Oh man you don't know what you missed. I started listening to it since 2015 and even my father liked it! Except "What does the Fox say". He found it "strange and annoying". I can't blame him, it was indeed strange, but I still like it.

I know. I only just realised there is this song. (2021)

"Buh buh buh buh buh buh"

original song from israel
Been fan for like 4 years ...
Agreed. They are addicting, and I keep coming back to them to get my fix.
izraeli song
I believe the old man who sings "pa pa pa" is the now hermit original Mr. Toot, reflecting upon his past mistakes and the proper synthesis of tradition, culture, modernity and technology.
Great point.
That was my impression as well.
Brilliant!!!
That's Mr. Za'toot, he is a Moroccan. You can find him in Jama' Lefna (square) in Marrakesh performing every night. For $10, you can hire him to act for you. We Moroccans claim that Jama' Lefna (square) is the world's oldest open-air theater and circus. It really deserves visiting. It's a unique experience in a lifetime. Do you know that many famous artists "performed" there? Robert and Jimmy Page shot several videoclips in the square for their album, No Quarter.
@@ALMASIHIY Nice info, thanks. I would like to visit Morocco some day. Don't you think it is strange they recorded this in Morocco tho, instead of Turkey?
What I learned from the story: the toot is actually a evil artifact that possesses the user and corrupts them under the guise of fame and fortune. Then when the toot drains all of the good in the users soul, they turn them into a soulless husk that lost their identity. The toot is “discarded” and finds a new host.
The toot is perilous indeed.
Three "Buh"s for the Ylvis bros bringing the trance.
Seven for the dwarf lords sitting by the fire.
Nine for mortal folk doomed to dance.
One for the Dark Bård with his Dark Lyre.
One toot to swing them all.
One toot to flock them.
One toot to bring them all
and synthesizer-shock them.
In the land Morocco,
Where the carpets lie.
Ohhh good one 💗
Spooky! Maybe it has a dragon heart inside
For ages, I wondered where the second brother was in this video. It took me way too long to notice that he was Mr Toot.
@Provocateur Well, it is isn't it?
@Provocateur actually the video is not in Istanbul it's in Morocco 😅
OH MY GOD
I know right. possibly that took me a year.
@@esmaelai3452 that's why it seems familiar 😅😅
It took me 3 years of listening to this song before I realized that Mr. Toot called himself Mr. Ibanez not because it's a cool name, but because Ibanez is a name of an electric guitar brand...
Now after this explaination, my life is complete.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA ME TOO!! I realized that a few days ago.
As a person who played a bit of guitar, I got a good laugh out of Mr. Ibanez. :D
You sir, are the messenger of God

That was the end of mr toot
He was never to return,
Thought you can kill the man
You can never kill the toot..❤️

These lyrics is the only reason for still listening the song
Mr toot can't die
*epic toot solo*
Legend says that for every Buh a wise man speaks, a Mr. Toot existed.
Also...did anyone else get the vibe that the old guy was a previous Toot who knew better? Which is why he was Buhbuhbubing in the crowd that night and the only one who stayed?
@@danjoredd ohhh thats deep. So the whole video was a memory of past regrets? Genius.
I had this theory as well, but for me, the old guy was a previous mister Toot, who made the same mistake. Believing others were interested in him, and not the music.

Ok, I'm just blown away by the incredible talent here. From the singing with the accent, rolling the R's and nailing the semitones in the 4 note trills in the vocals, this is just a prime of example of how to perfectly nail a musical genre. (which I now see Ylvis has done all in each vid) But to actually nail the vibe and feel of turkish groove was totally badass. And even down to a smooth jazz midi guitar solo! damn! I'm a fan of Punjabi music so this was just a pleasure to hear! (and I'm a midi specialist, seriously he could have just used general midi #105, on a Sitar patch!) Please tell me exactly how that oud was recorded, it's awesome!
Well they are Norwegian and rolling the R is natural for them
Ask Balkan Beat Box - this is Ylvis singing over their song.
Cirlex They are West-Norwegian, they don't naturally roll their "R".
He's right they actually took the beat and only changed it slightly removed some elements and repeated Balkan beat boxes riff however this is the only example I can find of this in their songs
@@fiddibelow It's honestly one of my favorite tracks ever! I'm sure Balkan Beat Box probably pulled a few of those elements off a loop CD, like we all use in production, but it was a magical blend of musicianship and shill. thanks bro!
Words to live by - Though you can kill the man, you can NEVER kill the toot. Wise words indeed! 🥶🥶🥶
That was beautiful! Now I must go indulge in some jelly and caviar...

+soonsims nah, I just got hooked on Ylvis recently and I haven't picked a favorite yet (though Bård is indeed so beautiful). I tried to watch all the vids I can find and I notice that they'd normally appear together, so it doesn't make sense if Bård doesn't make at least a cameo in this vid. So I tried to pay more attention and it hit me xD
Thúy Minh Lưu Well in the cabin bard doesn't appear and in the language of love and someone like me vegard doesnt appear. but i know what you mean, i also discovered them quite recently and i am addicted. Be careful with the ylvis brothers. they are awesome beyond belief haha!

Took me over 5 years of listening to this before that i realised that Mr. Toot is Bård
I figured that out yesterday and I had to come to CZcams to make sure I was right. Haha
Wow, I didn't know that! Although missing of the brother in that video seemed a bit strange. And now I know why :)
Oh yes, he's a great Istanbul bard indeed.
Yeah same. I just assumed he was back in Norway, eating the Djogurt.
OMG I- 🤯
What a fantastic video! Hilarious, great social commentary on the industrialization of modern music all wrapped up in a really cool tune. Awesome! I love Eastern music, and listen to Indian, Pakistani and Afro pop all the time. Great stuff.
I'm not sure what the message is because that MIDI Toot solo was fucking incredible.
In my opinion that falls in line with the meaning: People always want the same thing all the time from an artist. And when an artist does something new people abandon him.
+Kristan O. Also that even if something is good it might not be what the audience likes
+Kristan O. i agree ,, they just cant listen to it and get pleasure from it :) //// love his new style :*
Yeah the MIDI toot sounded pretty awesome too, but I guess the people wanted a more cultural thing? Idk, it's just a guess

this song is supposed to make no sense, like most of Ylvis. You are taking this song too seriously.
Actually if you think about it, this song is saying try new things you enjoy and society will leave you behind to return to their conformist comforts
The Female simpleton.
be Mr. Toot
That melody has got me hooked I can't stop watching this
hackjilton the music in the back ground is actually from a song called "Adir Adirim" by Balkan Beat Box
Thank you Captain!
This song is such an earworm, I keep finding myself humming this, especially the buh buh buh bit
POV "This isn't Your first time Back Here"
Definitely not, sometimes nostalgia hits hard!
I’ve i havent been here in like 2 years
This is underrated..agree?
Totally
all their songs are tbh
Underrated is Balkan Beat Box, who actually created the music and everybody credits this guys.
Yeah yeah funny lyrics and stuff. But not big deal here. They just put the lyrics in a 2005 song. For sure, not a big deal.
Balkan Beat Box - Adir Adirim is the big deal.
Yes shilpa it is
I agree!
so many complaints about saying that it's in Istanbul when it's in Morocco. how about we just listen to the song?
I agree 100%
I'm not complaining, I liked the song, but I seriously spent some time puzzled, like "gee, where in Istanbul are they? I've never seen that side" XD
*****
Same for me. At the beginning it's like "is this near the small Bazar?... hum... nope, Galata?... WTF?" :D
Still, funny song :)
Yeah, happens all the time. People listen and watch the Ylvis videos and Wonders, and questions, and criticize and do everyting but listen to the Music and realize this is just Music and comedy. It's not supposed to be serious, but it's pretty good comedy as well as catchy Music.
Reidar Barstad exactly..... it is not supposed to be serious! they are comedians!
Not sure about Mr Toot but I’d definitely go and see Mr Ibanez. He puts on a good show.
This is my 4yr favorite song and he tells BUH BUB BUH BUH that's his favorite part and he loves the beat! ❤
Thank you mr.toot!
I don't know ....but there is something about this song....watched more than 100 times...love it
madhur agarwal the original song is called "Adir Adirim" by Balkan Beat Box. That's where all the background music comes from
And the video wasn't shot in Istanbul it's in Morocco
My 4 years old sister is a great fan of Ylvis and I really like his music. This song and video are great also, especially Ezan like backsound at the ends. Of course this is humor but being a Turk and living in Istanbul, I am afraid of wrong perception about Turkey among young audience. Istanbul has no relation with these scenes.

Keep coming back to this absolutely brilliant(and catchy!!) composition. Thankyou!!
what's crazy is he kills it on that midi toot. how they gonna hate on that solo?!
Maybe it was a culture thing?
Think of it this way: You are vegetarian and have a restaurant that cooks well for you. Not the owner wats to expand and serves a lot of meat dishes and every single one of the vegetarian options disappears. He cooks wonderfully, skillfully, Beef Wellington, masterfully cut Sashimi, everything you would get at a high class restaurant. Why do you not appreciate it and eat it? You are vegetarian and while the food might taste amazing, you will still not go back to the changed restaurant, because there are only meaty options left. Here it is the same. You have the sound of that Toot instrument and people love it. Not there is this guy with an electric guitar and it is not the same anymore. It is the same cook, but the meals are completely different.
Kan man ikke tolke det sånn at denne videoen kritiserer de som kritiserer denne videoen. Jeg elsker at Ylvis tør å gjøre akkurat som de vil. Fresht.
