At least as I have heard her comments, what I’ve heard CC complaining about is consistency in the calling of fouls. So, I think it’s less about the players being physical with her-she doesn’t like it but she’s repeatedly says she accepts it-and more about inconsistent officiating. Had the refs called the flagrant 1 on the floor, this would all be a nothing burger. Angel got crazy hammered-way too much-but the ejection happened immediately. When Angel got the stupid double tech, that was a bigger story. I think everyone is willing to accept physicality if the fouls are called consistently. I think CC feels, right or wrong, that she’s getting hammered in a foul-worthy way but not getting calls, while getting a techs for complaining about non-calls. And the refs’ refusal to even review the Carter call brought that to a head. It’s not about hard the hit was or was not. It’s the number no-calls for obvious fouls.

It is hard to discuss because many do not want to admit that she is that good. But if she is not that good, why are they covering her in a way that other player has experienced.

Caitlyn isn’t your problem it’s all the different media entities that are the problem. The media is putting all these narratives out there whether that be traditional or social media. If the main media wouldn’t constantly jump on every idiots view from social media and make a bigger deal out of things to get likes, views, or clicks just maybe the trolls would shut up. The media needs to stop asking every player and coach about Caitlyn, it’s irritating and exhausting. Also, stop assuming it’s the “new fans” that are creating all the negativity. I believe most of the negativity is coming from people with agendas that have little to do with an Iowa women’s basketball player journey to the WNBA. As for being disrespectful to women, the term “cash cow” I’ve been hearing thrown about in the media sphere gives off as much disrespectful vibes as the”white b@*$&” comment. I truly hope Caitlyn is able to keep all of this useless noise blocked out and to work on her game so she can be the player she is meant to be.

The problem is the new Fans dont understand how physical the WNBA is. So many dont look at the league as a whole. The League should have been huge years ago. Sponsors did not want to put money in the league especially the NBA. Also the shows on major networks hardly mention WNBA 10 years ago. More women need to find ways to get on the shows to explain the History of the WNBA on how it got where it is now.

Caitlyn is being caped for because he's just a likeable player. The way fans stand up for Taylor Swift, or Beyonce or Tom Hanks... it's high Q-Rating and simple magnetism. As a Black man, I enjoy many players around the W, but there IS something "adorkable" about HER temper tantrums, and her talent and the way she carries herself in the media helps her be an amazing candidate to carry the torch. Her affability, composure and intelligence in postgame, along with the spectacular highlight reel plays make her the "people's champ." I do feel as if to some, she's a proxy for Black trauma because of the political tinderbox out there, but for me, she's just good, cute and easy to root for.

Just found your channel and I find it refreshing to see a better take on the wnba. Some of the comments though……
I think because of today’s climate where it’s normalized to be hateful and say whatever is in your head is one of the problems with this CC situation. I think people forget CC is 22 and actually believes the hype. No fault of her she’s a kid. She is coming from a place where she was the end all be all of the team and now she’s just not. The league has a bounty of talent and she doesn’t compare. And as a person on the outside I think she adds to her problems when she isolates herself. She is never with the team when they are doing pregame hype, she doesn’t even have a handshake. So her fans are like oh she doesn’t participate in that “ghetto” stuff so that to me puts a wedge in the team. And I don’t blame the vets feeling a type of way when they have been busting their butts and they give her the red carpet treatment and she hasn’t step foot on the court. I’m sure if that happened at your job you would feel slighted. As far as the fouls. She’s playing it up. She’s a flopper. She leads the league in turn overs. She is constantly crying to the refs when she thinks she is foul. What I don’t like is the men like Charles Barkley and Lebron with the shut up and play she is bringing attention to the wnba attitude. She is good not great. She has a lot of learning to do.

Rules about freedom on movement need to be enforced. Catlin in constantly being grabbed and bumped off her line while moving off ball. Players are allowed freedom of movement, Kristy has been sending film of the constant fouls off ball. The refs need to call it.

This issue with Caitlin is her silence on her fans/stans that are nasty & racist online. It is not okay. Silence is violence. Omission is permission. If you don't say anything then it appears you condone it. Even if it's not true. For Aliyah Boston to get death threats from Clark fans/stans and her saying nothing, says a lot. Her brothers and boyfriend liking inflammatory tweets does not help her image. I get she wants to play basketball, but she has a lot of power, and allowing her white nationalist stans to use her image for their crusade is making this bigger than it needs to be.
