- Today I'll show you how to professionally install or remove the lens on a GoPro Hero 4/3+ camera. I'll be removing a 5.4mm 10MP non-distortion lens and installing the stock lens to show how easy this is.. There is no reason to disassemble your camera as the stock lens remains in perfect condition thought this process.

Best instruction film to replace your standard fish eye lens of your gopro into the 5.4mm 10 MP. I did followed the other tutorials and damaged my go pro 4. I kinda gave up on the lens i bought but after seeing this vid i bought a new go pro 4 and tried it... IT WORKED !!!! ty soo much finally i can shoot video's on my stabilizer without fish eye
new gopro hero 4 owner here, long story short I installed my gopro on my quadcopter , about a week in I had a rough landing where the quad tripped on its face, well my back yard is rock and guess what caught the wrath ? my lens! anyway this video helped me a ton as i really didnt want to disassemble my camera, thanks !
Hi. I installed the 5.4 lens as shown in this video. But with the original lens mount you have only about 5 turns of 360 degrees screwing the lens in to the focus point. That is only 2 mm depth of the screw-thread. The result is that it is almost impossible to fit the lens absolutely vertical to the sensor, even when fitting with special plumming tape. There is a big change that your picture will not be perfectly sharp on one side. So I ordered the replacing lens mount also, because this mount has a screw over the whole lenght of inside of the tube in order to fit exactly vertical to the sensor.

Already modified so who's to say this is how to take it apart ! I need to replace the lens on my silver 3 +and every video is different . Do I need to take it all apart or just unscrew the lens ?
I have no idea how to go about focusing my lens. Surely if you focus it on something far away, then your up close shots are going be awful and vice versa. Is there a good middle ground?
I'm using it on a drone, but as well as taking shots from the air, I like to capture some things up close.
question, hoping you will respond. did you notice the incredibly narrow depth of field? I'm finding it impossible to get to infinity focus.
And how did you fix the pink eye?

Hi, L'Moy new to this and just need a bit of advice, I've got a hero go pro 4 that I'm going to use with a drone. I have purchased a 5.4 lens but want to make sure it's worth changing the lens. Are there GoPro 4 black settings that will give the same effect or am l best to change the lens'?
+Roger Palin There is a setting in the gopro Studio to remove the fish eye effect, but it''l be similar to a 2.8mm lens, and It's not that reliable. I'd say try the lens, and tell me what you thought, cuz I want to buy a 5.4 too
I've heard that there is a tint, does your lens have a tint? I'm trying to buy one and fix my camera that someone kicked.
How does the 5.4mm affect the low light capability of the camera?

kempouk they do this because they have a older version don't take it apart completely this video is correct the other ways can may stuff up your camera because u can break wires and yea

I am horrified to see the use of mole grip pliers anywhere near a lens.. Sorry but there is no control over the amount of pressure you are exerting on this lens body.
I was just thinking the same thing, imagine all the people copying him using the same pliers and just crushing the lens lol.

I did a focus adjustment on a Hero 3+ and used a hair dryer to soften the adhesive to the point that it was possible to hand unscrew the lens.
I am pleased you managed to exercise a sensible way of loosening the lens. If this bloke worked for me, he would be fired straight away.
