    First of all, NATO has no business getting involved in Taiwan, simply because it is an internal matter of sovereignty for China PRC. Taiwan isn't even in NATO territory, so therefore NATO has no authority, legal right to interfere in Taiwan issue, neither does the US 🇺🇲.

      That is the price of Apathy
      PARTY FOR PEACE 🕊️
      Focus on the solution SIR: *Govt by Referenda 70/30 split.* By Mascot Party or *Velvet Revolution*
      Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws.
      A Public Authority can audit police and prosecute bad cops in our own courts.
      Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians.
      This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented.
      With the appropriate checks and balances, we could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc.
      Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%.
      The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination.
      That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale.
      It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on.
      We need Government by People's Referenda, either through Mascot Candidates or Peaceful Occupation of the Capitals until one is established.
      Make it an annual March on Oct 14.
      Take back the Temples under a single white flag! 🏳️

      Well if China or Russia or both or with help of North Of Korea and Iran attack US bases in Pacific, US could invoke NATO Article 5. NATO is collective security, collective defense. It does not mean collective defense against Russia in European theater only. That would be an error. Chinese attack on US bases to isolate it from aiding Taiwan, requires, Chnese neutralization of Australia. Australia is in British Commonwealth, and UK would come to aid of Australia, and to aid to US under NATO, and as traditional ally of US.
      USA is an eagle whose wings stretch over Europe and Pacific. Thats why its combat forces have two basic major commands. Central Command (covering Europe and MidEast), and Indo-Pacific Command covering almost the rest of the world. The third Northern Command covers defense of Continental United States, Canada, and Central America down to Panama Canal.

      My concern is that Russian view of US and Chinese view of USA is same how Germany of 1940 and Japan of 1940 viewed USA. That;
      1. USA is weak wont fight
      2, Badly led
      3. Waging proxy wars by supplying their foes. UK and Republic Of China in 1940. Frustrating Fascist Germany plans for EUrope and Imperial Japan's plans for China.

      @dkoz8321 Před 17 dny

      @@oldguy217 History of past few centuries has shown that whenever an aggressive expansionist power wants to take a militaristic route to conquest, they ALWAYS manufacture a declaration of 'provacation'.
      Assasination of Archduke Ferdinand was a provacation
      Germany claimed that Poland invaded German radio station was a provacation. Persecution of Germans in Sudentenland was a provacation. by Czechoslovakia. Jewish International Bankers in USA and UK provoked Germany. US Lend-Lease Act of arms to UK ,France , later Soviet Unionwas a provacation against Germany.
      Japan claimed that US supplying arms and financing to Chinese Government and economic sanctions on Imperial Japan were a provacation.
      New members joining NATO were a provacation . Invitation of Ukraine and Georgia into EU and NATO were a provacation against Russia. US+EU arming and financing Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression is a provacation.
      China (PRC) claims that US suppourt for Taiwan with economic ties and arms is a provacation by US against China.
      If it is geopolitically convenient, it is a provacation.
      US alliance with South Korea, and post WWII Japan is a provacation against North Korea.
      Kuwait and Saudi Arabia undercutting Iraq in oil production is a provacation.
      Its just an excuse for military aggression.
      Military aggression for sake of conquest is an international war crime. Basically comes down to ;
      "We want what they have, be it land, resources, people, alliances that need to be broken. We think we can take it by force. So lets do it." This is Putin's logic for his invasion of Ukraine. Russia wants Ukraine back into Russian fold, Russia thinks it can take it at acceptable cost, so Russia will take it at point of gun. Or at tip of nuclear armed missile.

      The economic and geographic interdependence of Taiwan, China, Japan, and South Korea make it extremely unlikely that China would invade Taiwan. But Americans live in a democracy. The candidates of both parties benefit from both villainizing China and claiming they are doing more to “Stand up” to China than their opponents. I do not know how much this comes from the echo chambers of inter-party and intra-party politics, and how much it comes from an appeal to the broader public. If it comes mostly from an appeal to the public, it means our public are idiots and assholes, so China is the least of the United States worries.

    • @barnabusdoyle4930
      @barnabusdoyle4930 Před 17 dny +3

      From a military perspective, Taiwan is not that much different than Ukraine. If China wanted to invade Taiwan, there will be little to nothing the US could do about it, and the US knows this. China’s projectile arsenal could flatten Taiwan within a day and though an island invasion would be more difficult than a fully ground invasion, Taiwan would have no defenses left after the volley of missiles, drones and such. It would be like China attempting to stop the US from invading Cuba, which would also be impossible. And this is assuming the military of Taiwan would even try to put up a resistance, which I really doubt they would. Too many of the common people see Taiwan as part of China, only the politicians see Taiwan as independent.

    Ne soyez pas tristes, mes élèves ! Vous êtes plus pauvres, mais lorsque nous diviserons la Russie, vous obtiendrez votre part et redeviendrez riches. Je ferai la même chose que vous avez fait avec l’Afrique il y a quelque temps, en partageant le continent entre vous, frères. Sois patient! La Russie n’est plus ce qu’était l’Afrique à cette époque. Parce que même l’Afrique devient difficile aujourd’hui.

    Why can’t you put the actual date of this interview? Rather than date it well after it took place? It really helps in understanding your interviewees comments against what point in time they are made….. this interview was made on the 4th of July, the interviewee stated in passing that the UK election was taking place that day and didn’t take into account the results of the second round of French elections which took place the day before you dated this interview…..
