The best backing band The Beach Boys ever assembled. Jeff Foskett, The Wondermints, Cowsill, etc. Brian Wilson's arrangements are replicated flawlessly. The vocals fill to the point The Beach Boys themselves sound fresh and vibrant..
The morning I saw this GMA performance I had no idea I was going to get the chance to see the 50th anniversary tour in person. I did IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since he knows all the business and personal ins and outs of the band, maybe he wouldn't want to be a full-time member plus he has his solo and session-work career, which would be harder to navigate if he was a full-time member. :-)
Watching this clip, I had the same thoughts as you. We get close ups of Mike love, even when hes not singing. As Brian starts the lead on good vibrations what do we get? Why, we get a closer of Mike Love not singing into the microphone.
I'll second that, big time. I've been a fan since before I was a teenager. I still remember hearing "Don't Worry Baby" for the first time. Pure heaven with the harmonies.
I won't argue that Mike was an integral part of the band. His hand gestures seem hack-y and annoy me. A lot of people are also turned off by all his lawsuits, his alleged behavior during the "Pet Sounds" and "Smile" days, and of course his diatribe at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. That's why you see a deluge of people trashing him.
~ You guys sounded so Awesome : ) Thanks for posting this ~ The three songs you guys sang was so wonderful : ) The crowd just loves you guys~ I have Nerver given up on you guys and your beautiful music : ) ~ xxx
Saw these guys in Albuquerque in July! Great Show! I am 21 and I can't believe the summer of concerts I have seen! Barry Manilow, The 50th Beach Boys, The Grassroots, The Buckinghams, Gary Puckett, Mickie Doland, The Turtles!
I'm not a big Mike Love fan but he sounded great on California Girls. For being a a 70 year old man he sounded great. But I know what you're talking about when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mike's speech was downright embarrassing to the group. I'm glad that all differences and lawsuits have been put aside so they could reunite. Too bad Carl and Dennis weren't there to bask in all of this.
In all reality Mike & Bruce announced that they were ending the tour and letting Brian & company go while Mike & Bruce will continue to perform Beach Boys music. Pretty stupid considering that Brian has the the talent & the ability to make a couple of tree stumps sound like The Beach Boys.
When she asks Brian the question, "How is touring different 50 years later?", for some reason I can't understand his answer. Can anyone please tell me what he says? "Brian, I just love looking into those beautiful eyes of yours." Lucky woman!
Er….you mean a BEACHball?? It's symbolic and they have one at all their concerts. I've seen them live twice in New Orleans. Once at City Park and once at the University of New Orleans(UNO) baseball diamond. It doesn't hurt anybody or anything and it keeps the spirit of the mood alive. It's not like the band's playing was highly technical or anything, like at a John Williams concert where the musicians ARE the ones to watch play his beautiful compositions. Example: watch here on CZcams his concert rendition of the theme to "Jurassic Park". Don't believe me? Check it out.
bad job by director to focus on mike love to open good vibrations when brian is the one singing. not to mention brian is a genius and mike is largely a tool.
Lol. I couldn't even tell if Brian was on stage till halfway through the video. I could hear his high parts but I know sometimes they are sung by different people.
oh yeah. aside from mike's lyrical contributions to almost the entirety of wild honey, one key track on smile, and songs from pet sounds, smiley smile, friends, 20/20, sunflower, surf's up, carl and the passions, holland, several other songs before and after these albums named, he only about surfing, cars, and cars that had giant surfboards attached to the bottom. sometimes. anyway, his contributions didn't contribute to their success at all (except it did).
Caz Gerald Mike and Bruce are the hangeron(s). Brian was the genius and leader of the band, Al is was and forever be an eternal beach boy. David subbed for Al on the first 4 albums and during tv show appearances so that he, Al could go to school.
Mike Love looks like a younger Bill Clinton, although Mike Love is 10 years older than Clinton! For better or worse, Mike Love is a conservative, while Clinton is a liberal. Of course, The Beach Boys' music isn't all so conservative.
The best backing band The Beach Boys ever assembled. Jeff Foskett, The Wondermints, Cowsill, etc. Brian Wilson's arrangements are replicated flawlessly. The vocals fill to the point The Beach Boys themselves sound fresh and vibrant..
so great to see all these kids so into the music, even know the lyrics to their new song. theres hope for my generation
love you AL Jardine

2012...what a year and many memories I will have of this tour!!
Shame Jeff has not received Beach Boy status. He has been an integral part of the band for over 30 years.
Since he knows all the business and personal ins and outs of the band, maybe he wouldn't want to be a full-time member plus he has his solo and session-work career, which would be harder to navigate if he was a full-time member.
:-)
He recently gave birth !
Let’s include Darien and Probyn then, without them Smile wouldn’t have been completed.
Brian Wilson, God of Harmony.
Carl and Denny, we miss you
Love John Cowsill!
"our resident genius...Brian Wilson" :-)
Props to the lady at 9:40... she actually knew the lyrics!
I miss 2012
A decidedly happier time
Poor director doesn't know it's Brian singing lead for Good Vibrations. And I would also guess that Brian Wilson is The Beach Boys personified!
Watching this clip, I had the same thoughts as you. We get close ups of Mike love, even when hes not singing. As Brian starts the lead on good vibrations what do we get? Why, we get a closer of Mike Love not singing into the microphone.
The sons and kings of Southern California.
They just have that something that makes you have to listen!
So great to see at 8:42 original Beach Boy David Lee Marks!
Love the Beach Boys!
great backup vocals from Bruce Johnston on California girls
Underrated singer and songwriter
THE BEACH BOYS! THEY STILL ROCK!
Congratulations on your great tour guys!
the best band ever!
I'll second that, big time. I've been a fan since before I was a teenager. I still remember hearing "Don't Worry Baby" for the first time. Pure heaven with the harmonies.
x2
california girls is the best song ever written
'I Get Around' is the best song song ever. You stand corrected.
worked out well......great band behind the boys......memorable start to california girls.....beach boy music was always feel good music.
another great hit by the Beach boys
He clearly said "We've had practice. It gets better every year."
I won't argue that Mike was an integral part of the band. His hand gestures seem hack-y and annoy me. Look up how he treated his daughter Shawn when she had cancer
And also his blatantly hypocritical politics turn people off.
Mike was the Beach Boys
Thanks so much for posting! They are the greatest!!! Wish I made the show but I woke up before 7 but got to see it on TV. out of this world!
Immortality in American culture ... Congratulations on 50 Years!
~ You guys sounded so Awesome : ) Thanks for posting this ~ The three songs you guys sang was so wonderful : ) The crowd just loves you guys~ I have Nerver given up on you guys and your beautiful music : ) ~ xxx
Thanks for posting this! :)
It's a shame the camera's didn't focus a little more on the audience.............
;-)
Thanks for weighing in, Mike Love's mom.
I was SO CLOSE to going...I couldn't get an early enough train into Manhattan yesterday to see this. Thanks for posting.
So much fun!
Mickey Dolenz?
i would have BOOOOED! when she said mike love
Great stuff. Can't wait for them to play Melbourne, Australia Aug 31st. I'll be there front row lapping it all up:)

It's rare to watch the audience sing a new song from the Beach Boys. Not since Kokomo. But That's Why God Made the Radio went to number 5 I believe.
interesting you said that. i didn't notice the pepsi stuff at all until i read your comment
In all reality Mike & Bruce announced that they were ending the tour and letting Brian & company go while Mike & Bruce will continue to perform Beach Boys music. Pretty stupid considering that Brian has the the talent & the ability to make a couple of tree stumps sound like The Beach Boys.
No Carl ? No Brian ? No Beach Boys !
Thanks. I see it now. I have a hearing deficient, and sometimes videos are difficult for me to understand.
Me too! I only just discovered they're touring Oz, poor promotion.
Fifty years later... at 8:30 in the morning they have been awake 4 hours!
Sponsored by PEPSI thank you
Brian and Mike should have had a chat about what shirt they were going to wear..
Didn't Brian Wilson actually write and make all the Beach Boys songs? That's what I thought, but I could be wrong.
Not all of them but a lot, especially up to 1968.
5:08 who's having fun?!
Can we get a Time Machine and go back to 2012
When she asks Brian the question, "How is touring different 50 years later?", for some reason I can't understand his answer. Can anyone please tell me what he says?
"Brian, I just love looking into those beautiful eyes of yours." Lucky woman!
"well, we got a lot of practice."
Theodore Cleaver on keyboards
Too much panning around the audience and that annoying huge volleyball....not enough focus on the band playing
Er….you mean a BEACHball?? It's symbolic and they have one at all their concerts. I've seen them live twice in New Orleans. At 5:08-5:09, she wasn't experiencing "Good Vibrations." That's how I look when I first get to work. Lol
I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rhythm. This audio lacked it.
Strange the cameras do not show the members other than Mike.
I know but he is the lead singer and frontman
@@peacelove4824 - Exactly. It's unusual whatsoever for cameras to go to the generally perceived frontman.
:-)

Yeah, he's a good lad.
:-)
Why not The Netherlands?
not in Ro(u)tte land
jajajajajaja
Brian sounds like he's drunk.
He's on medication and has brain & vocal damage, so i can understand why you might think that.
This video is crap! It's a giant Pepsi commercial. You can't even see their faces!!
If they had just waited a couple months they could have showcased the real Beach Boys without those hangers on Brian, Al and David.
Caz Gerald Mike and Bruce are the hangeron(s). Brian was the genius and leader of the band, Al is was and forever be an eternal beach boy. David subbed for Al on the first 4 albums and during tv show appearances so that he, Al could go to school.
Why do the cameras have to show the audience so much? I wanna watch the beach boys , not a bunch of nobodys.
Mike Love looks like a younger Bill Clinton, although Mike Love is 10 years older than Clinton! For better or worse, Mike Love is a conservative, while Clinton is a liberal. Of course, The Beach Boys' music isn't all so conservative.
