    To check your fluid level you need to put it in each gear (ie 1, 2, 3, R, D) for 3 minutes each, leave it in neutral running with the parking brake set, and check it on level ground. The vehicle should always be running, at operating temperature, in neutral, and on level ground to check the atf level.

    Always check your trans fluid when it’s warm, trans fluid is not like oil and expands a lot when it’s hot, you need to be careful you don’t overfill your transmission fluid. There is a little cross hatch area on the dipstick which denotes where the fluid should reach when it’s hot, I’ve found if you add 3 or 4 quarts then start the engine and let it run for a few minutes then shift through all the gears and then leave in neutral while you check the fluid on level ground you can then determine if you need to add some more fluid or not. Simple as peas

    Also check the pan mating surface. Sometimes mechanics or DIYers tighten the bolts to address leaks on the pan edge, but this leads to deforming the pan mating surface and if it's uneven enough, it won't seal unless you straighten it or get a new pan.

    I did it just like you showed, but I wish I put on rubber gloves like you. I feel chemical burns on my hands from all that trans fluid dripping on me while undoing all those bolts.

    good video i wondered what the ring on your wrist was and why you did not grease the gasket. I have two gaskets in my box and I'm pretty nervous about this.

    Man I have to ask: You have a lot metal shave in the pan, do you have any problems or had the transmission rebuilt after this video? And how many miles you have it at that time? Tks in advance, great video I'm glad I found this!

    This is my van. I need to replace my transmission mount. How do you get to the transmission mount inside that U shaped assembly right behind the tranny pan? Do I loosen that one bolt in the bottom of the U shaped assembly? I have the new mount with the 2 legs on either side with a new bolt for each leg (not just the insert). There's no videos on this anywhere. And nobody I talk to has experience with this van mount.

    I've got a 5.4L 94' B250. Do you fill up to the max level while idling on the drip stick? It looked like you filled up above that part.

    Use a transfer pump to empty the pan before removal. Cheap, Easy, No Mess.

    It's getting the fluid out of the converter that's the hard part. Leave that fluid in, you've only changed maybe half of the dirty atf.

      @@EasySteps_Sidhu that doesn't answer my question . I'm asking what transmission that is not what engine it is . I'm only asking cuz I have the same transmission in my 1996 Dodge ram van 2500 . And I'm not sure what transmission it is .

  • @tubetime39
    @tubetime39 Před 2 lety

    Only 5/5 1/2 quarts ? Total fill is 9 quarts. All that work and you only did a partial fluid change ? Why ? Doesn't make sense. It may help some but with these transmissions I would change all of the fluid and I wouldn't go cheap. The little extra you pay for a high end fluid is well worth it, and again with transmissions that are having problems. Problems or no problems a high quality fluid will save you problems & headaches or at the very least it will ease your mind whether an issue might be a quality fluid cause.

    • @tubetime39
      @tubetime39 Před 2 lety

      A high end, quality fluid does not need a fluid additive put in with it,( like you did ) either, it already has the needed additive(s) in it. Your additive I may have used with the ATF that you used. These comments some won't get or research for themselves but it is for those that want the best for their vehicle and to help prevent future problems.
