You've really got immaculate music choices for these vids Ziggy. Kingdom come, Oblivion, really fitting stuff. Even the really calm Oblivion tracks oddly fit the absurd amount of violence.
I recently got 2nd in a duel server with it. Here are the rules. Keep distance, so they don't kick you. Heavy overheads have insane range and throw off so many peoples attack timing. Most people can't counter it either. Use the special to drain opponents stamina. Crouch stab so the sword animations skate along the ground. Drag heavy swing attacks

Met a guy who could accel the HS overhead faster than any weapon in the game, he was like level 700 and went 35-0 in a duel server filled with people I would consider very good at the game
I think one benefit that you sort of covered but didn’t explicitly mention was that the stamina drain from HLS attacks is small, but not because it’s any different than other weapons; it just takes so long to get that initial drain that you have more time before it starts to go down, therefore you have more time to regen stamina while you wait for your humongous attack to hit.
Great gameplay. I've finally reached a point where I was stuck skill-wise and this video has really helped. As a souls player, the whole "bounce off of their own pace and do things against them" is right up my alley as it basically means using spacing and timing (the souls pvp fundamentals). Do a Greatsword video next!
Dark Souls actually shaped my Chivalry playstyle back in Chivalry 1 with an emphasis on spacing and punishing. This has since evolved but it's a great skill to try and transfer. I'll see about Greatsword sometime soon, but you might have to wait a bit.

I feel that the Chiv devs liked to draw on real life applications or advantages of each weapon to decide which attack to make really strong on a weapon. The greatsword and battleaxe for example have strong overheads, naturally, spear and rapier have stronger stabs, messer has strong everything. The highland sword and especially if you're running the executioner sword skin would indicate that it's a very executioner sword-like weapon. They would've been used in higher ranked executions to allow an executioner to better horizontally decapitate the sentenced on their knees. So if nothing else that should at least be an excuse for it to have at least 55, maybe 60 damage slashes.
lmao this was super fun to watch. i think highland in duel is still ok, the nurf is really really noticeable in TO, for a while there i was cheesing highland so hard, all you need to do is run into battle and counter every slash with an accel, my god it fucking slay, and heavy overhead people from the side and back. It was just a very satisfying weapon, it literally splatter people
Any recent thoughts about the Maul? Cause I believe you kinda fell out of love with it. I like using it because the big bonks give me that dopamine hit, but holy crap I feel useless in fights unless I get teammates to help set up picks for me, which they most frequently don't.
The maul doesn't have enough for me to enjoy it, it can be fun and you can definitely swing it and get a lot of kills but it's more in your enemies hands than it is yours, it's upto them if you'll get a big heavy slash and kill 4 people in one swing. To me, it doesn't have enough tools to consistently do well in high-population fights.

Its always an uphill battle with it even if you're decent at the game because if my enemies are paying any attention at all and my mates huff too much glue to literally just be human scarecrows and stand near the bad men so they can't just outrange and gamble me every time I try to do anything, then I just get to eat shit.
The maul has the best stamina game of any dueling weapon in exchange for many flaws, but as Ziggy said it just falls apart in teamfighting which is sad because the maul behaves in a fun way mostly.

I didn't think that there were many Chivalry 2 context creators or if the game was good at all, but still, I wanted to play it as someone who is into History and gaming, I wanted to play medieval stasher, and to my surprise, it was great of course the has its flaws, every game does, it doesn't have as much customizable for it weapons or for it character but I digress, and thanks do in no part of this very video I'm getting better and better with my vanguard and my Highlander sword. Hey Ziggy. At 24:25 where you threw the weapon. That is a known bug. If you buffer counter while hitting the ground and it happens to counter a thrown projectile, you will automatically throw your weapon. Just Chiv things I suppose.
"a lot of people think being slow is a disadvantage. It just means you got to be a little more careful" that is literally a disadvantage tho. The requirement to be careful for the weapon to excel in comparison with other weapon gives it that disadvantage
Its not a disadvantage in the way that you get advantages for being slow. Its a trade off. You are more careful with a slow weapon but also gain some unique tools not available to fast weapons.
I never thought the Highland Sword was overpowered, but it was a little bit too easy to use. Now at least the Guts cosplayers gotta put in a little bit more effort.
I don't think hls is bad, my issue with it is the slashes/stabs are just not great so you have to rely on overheads a LOT and in terms of playstyle you play it like a greatsword that's less versatile.
I learned recently that someone is named Ziggy in Chiv 2 who is asked frequently if they are you and apparently, they really hate being asked if they are the same Ziggy. Not that I did it or anything... Thanks for the great HS demo
Hey ziggylata what are the differences between the highland sword and zwiehander if there are any and would you say it's worth using? I only ask because I'm fairly close to unlocking it.
The Highland Sword is much slower, a bit longer and is harder to use and doesn't gain much damage with any other attacks other than the Heavy Overhead. It's a good weapon though, it just requires a patient mindset and a lot of mastery to make use of. The Greatsword (or zweihander) is a very comfortable weapon, being medium speed with good damage numbers all around, very balanced in comparison to Highland Sword's niche applications.
I pretty much only use the highland sword and i think it works on people with bad reads or dont reconize the area the sword actually coverts. Its pretty easy to cover its options if youre familiar with it imo
I always struggle against highland sword as I see an attack,think I'm out of range, and not block which always results in me getting my head cut off and making me feel dumb for underestimating it's range
It's good if your opponent is incompetent. This is mainly seen in normal matchmaking, but fails much harder than other weapons when on the failing team.
You would be extremely slow due to the swords weight effecting you and since Knight is the slowest class you'll just compound that. So you sure you want it on 🤨

The hardest part of using the highland sword is getting vanguard to rank 20 to unlock it. I have been playing this game since the day it came out.

You can sort of make it faster by turning. The strike is whenever your blade touches them so if you turn early enough you can sort of strike faster
