In this video we will walk you through the what, the why and components required. we will also give you a couple of tips about how to mod these parts for better performance
Great, informative series. What band setup would you suggest for 8mm slip tip for dogtooth? I also notice that you like a short overhang. I normally use 40cm longer shaft than barrel on traditional rollers...?
Heeey buddy! Thanks for the comments. I never use more than 10 or 15 cm on an invert, as it defeats the purpose IMO. If you want more punch use a thicker shaft, which I suspect you are using if a slip-tip is fitted. When I hunt in very dynamic environments I trend to use a shaft so short that the flipper is kept tugged in by the shooting line over the muzzle. On the other hand on open water I trend to go a bit longer, just came back from Sicily and was using a 15cm overhang (7mm) shaft. Stay safe
Hi, thank you very much for your time , and clearly explaining to us, how to set inverted spearguns up ! Very useful! A question in terms of accuracy, are the inverted guns as good as the power they provide ? Again thanks for sharing.
Sorry for the delay, we were in Madeira fishing!, In terms of accuracy, there is a LOT of debate Out there so I will speak from anecdotal experience here. I don’t think I will ever go back to a traditional setup for clear waters. The low recoil and accuracy of the invert roller has no match for long distance shots. Make sure you use a proper spear circa 7mm or above. For thus particular gun we are using a 6.7mm spear because it’s only a 90cm barrel. If your spear is too thin or soft; it will wobble and loose both power and accuracy. Reports of bad accuracy with rollers and specially invert rollers are related to overpowered things shafts in most cases. FYI, for winter fishing or low visibility, I use a traditional roller. It doesn’t make much sense to use an invert in those conditions unless you are shooting huge fish. We are reef hunters mainly. Thanks for watching
@dustsnow666 Thanks a lot for your reply, I will definitely give inverted spearguns a try. Especially for blue water hunting. The components I already have them, and in case I don't like it, I can always convert this speargun back to a 3 band gun. Again, thanks for sharing the inverted spearguns secrets 🤙🤘👍
@@arysandrodossantos9300 I guarantee, if you set it properly, you will never go back to a 3 band standard setup. Send me an email if you want to discuss further or we can do a WhatsApp call before you embark in the build mate
Hi, yes everybody is asking for this, the reality is that we are getting them done in bulk by a company on Spain. they dont retail to the end user market unfortunately. I suspect they use the same facilities as Carbontek in canary islands , they look very similar, but the ones I order are carbon plugged
Power (load) is more important than length. end of the day you can rig 4x pairs of 18mm bands on a 90 cm invert roller if you are crazy enough! ha ha! Generally speaking if you are using 14mm bands you can get away with using kitesurfing glass loaded plastic pulleys like the ones from MVD. But if you start playing with 3 pairs of 16mm bands I would recommend Harkey 16mm block pulleys. or Tintanall invert roller pulleys
Ahoy!. I wouldnt use the Ermes handle with a wood body, the handle is too narrow and you will have problems with the pre-tensioned rubbers running freely!
Hi there from Australia, I’m in the middle of building an inverted 100cm roller and your videos you have posted have just come out in the perfect time for me as they have helped a lot. I have a question if you wouldn’t mind, 😊, do you think 3 sets of rubbers, 2 sets at 16mm and 1 set at 14mm would be too much power for a 7mm spear. I’ve been advised to drop it down to 2 sets of 16mm or go up to a 7.5mm spear?
Hi hi, thanks for watching. I would need to know what specifically you are targeting but I would go as follows for a 100: 1x set of 16mm for the Primary (pre-tensioned) rubbers, plus 2x sets of 14 (small ID), This will drive very accurately a 7mm short overhang shaft. OR 3x sets of 16mm standard ID rubbers to drive a 7.5mm shaft. This setup is a bloody lightning bolt and is what I use in my 110 builds. Piece of advise. Try to source very stiff hardened carbon steel shaft for this application. Shaft wobble can be solved also with a stiffer shaft, instead of an increase of diameter and weight. Picasso Gold carbon steel shaft es are in my opinion the best in the market. Thanks for watching
Sorry, I forgot to add, the advantage of 3x stages (pairs of rubbers) is that you can fine tune the power on the go if needed. Just take off one pair off, if there is a risk of hitting rocks. Or drop 2x pairs for a hole shot
Hello, thank you a million for your videos! I will start to build 2 same spearguns. Would you recommend the same setup for a 130cm gun in terms of carbon shaft? Do you by any chance have the links of the parts you have used? Thanks a lot in advance and safe spearfishing!
Hiya!, I personally dont see the point in going over 120cm for an inverted, the power and accuracy gains over that are negligible in my opinion. maybe worth creating a 140cm monster cannon if you do blue water stuff and planning on hitting tuna and doggies... but for 99% of situations, id say 110cm barrel MAX. Im trying to put in a list of materials from a retailer, as the supplies we buy are in bulk unfortunately.
@@pete8952 I buy these barrels directly from the supplier and request them to be “plugged” from factory (resin and carbon) so no plug needed, and even if the prongs fail, no biggie, as only a few ml of water would go in
We have decided to add a Part 2.5 to this series: TARGET PRACTICE! before taking it to Greece for some ground testing.
