Are you familiar with Szechuan style cooking? Do you know of a dish called (in English) water-boiles tripe? It's soooo delicious. Only very few restaurants make it in my town and it is always on a secret Szechuan menu that a lot of people are scared to order from because it's way too spicy for them. Please respond because I would like to know if you are familiar with it. I'm sure the name of the dish is probably something else in your language but that is just how it reads on every menu in English. The dish is a soup and it uses leaf/book tripe and has a very good spicy water based broth. The spices make the broth color red.

Honestly.... I didn't talk to anyone about this. Just wanted to pop in to say hi and make it a regular thing. But I do plan to contact a couple of them and see. Who knows.

I didn’t think OTGW would ever get new content again! I love this channel, but I thought there was no way, after this long. Glad to see you have been doing well, and keeping it together during this weird time.
As for vids I’d like to see, I would love more folklore and history-based vids. Those are always my favorites! But pretty much anything is welcome when it comes to Asian cultures, Chinese or otherwise. I just love learning about it all, and the entertainment factor is much appreciated.
Neither did I! Lol. But the recent few months I've done a lot of self reflection and had the opportunity to get the login again. so.... why not? It's like reuniting with my long lost family!

I started watching your videos when I was a university student. I was working on my degree in Asian studies and used your videos as a connecting point between cultures. Now I am a teacher, I still use your videos as a teaching point about Chinese and Asian cultures. Being half Filipino and living in China, this channel has helped me teach my friends and students about the Asian community. I have been learning Mandarin (and some Cantonese (I lived in Guangdong for a bit)) and still keep some of your videos on my saved list.
That's so great to hear! I've heard other teachers telling me the same thing. Never thought I'd ever be a "teacher" 😆
Nice to see you again, I love the fact that you do your Off the Great Wall videos in both Cantonese and Mandarin, or at least say words or phrases in both dialects. As a Canadian Cantonese speaker (who's kind of forgotten some Cantonese words) it's very helpful.
Yes, many ppl have told me how much they miss Cantonese videos. It is getting rarer nowadays

Wow oh wow! I've missed this channel so much! I'm so glad to hear that you've been doing well. I think I was just a wee bitty teenager when I first became obsessed with this channel. You, Dan, Mike, etc. were addressing issues Asians faced way before people started becoming more aware about Asian hate. Your channel helped me learn about my family's culture and feel not ashamed about being Asian way before Kpop, Kdrama, Chinese bl novels, etc. became popular. Yall were putting yourself out there as the front faces of CZcams channels way before we started seeing more Asian actors in American films. It's so incredible what you all did.
I've changed so much ever since I first started watching this channel. I'm about to graduate college. I've gotten into powerlifting and dancing which I never thought I would have ever done. I've taken acting classes which I would have never had the gut to do when I first started watching this channel. I am no longer the lone kid who doesn't really have friends. This past year during quarantine, I've developed a better relationship with my own body physically and mentally. I've slowly learned to prioritize myself over pleasing other people. I got involved in a production of short film about Chinese immigrants.
I just want to thank you all so much for what you do. This channel really helped me during some of my darkest periods. The skits, the food, and the teaching. This channel never failed to put a smile on my face even if I have had the shittiest day. Thank you so much!!! No words can really express how I feel.

Welcome back! 欢迎回来! When I first started studying Chinese 3.5 years ago, this CZcams channel was one of the first I subscribed to in order to learn Chinese and learn about Chinese culture! Thank you so much for all hard hard work! I’m looking forward to what the future holds for this channel!
P.S. I’m learning Mandarin and Japanese primarily, but I find your Cantonese content interesting! I’m starting to study that a bit as well! 😊

OMG I cried when watching this video, I just realized this channel has come back, i still remember in 2014 I start to watch off the Great Wall when I come to New Zealand to study. I was all by myself and don't really have friends back then, by watching off the great Wall I feel connect to Chinese people overseas. I was so sad when you guys stop updating. I think I’m about to cry. This channel was inactive for so long and now seeing it back makes me so happy. I’m first generation born Chinese in the United States so it was nice watching videos about my family’s culture. Even though this channel wasn’t active for a while I still watch the old videos with my two year old son. I am so happy and looking forward to the new content on this channel

Hello! What I've been doing during the pandemic is exploring different places and cultures via CZcams. I found OTGW, which quickly became a favorite. I first started watching you years ago when I was doing my Masters Degree and the majority of my cohort (group of grad students who start at the same time) was Chinese, along with a few Koreans, Taiwanese, and Japanese, and your channel really helped me quickly learn about their culture and bond with them. Still some of my best friends all these years later. So glad to see you're back.
