- There was a change of parents. Urga came home with breakfast. #4 ate a big frog. It was almost too big. #4 fell on its side and then on its back. Then the siblings came and tried to get the frog. The siblings lay on top of #4. This made the situation much worse for #4. Urga watched the scene closely and was ready to help. In the end she sat on the little ones. This made the siblings let go of #4. After a while she got up. #4 recovered. You can see him with a big crop and healthy! 🥰
📍 According to the information available to Dr. Māris Strazds, the nesting area of black storks has been known here since at least 2003, however, this nest was only found in January 2021.
📍 The nest could have been built in 2010 after the previous nest was abandoned. In 2021, there were no chicks, in 2022, three young birds were successfully hatched. In the previous nest in this area, one of the adult birds was ringed, while in this nest in 2022, both nesting adult birds were ringless.

Cross fingers. 🤞
Thank mom.
Thanks for your video. ❤
Good job, mom.
4番目の子は見事に起き上がりましたね。
栄養状態が良好なようで、体力もあったのでしょう。
いつも貴重な情報ありがとうございます❤🙏
Happy Mom solved the #4 stuck frog problem complicated by others piling on. Mom was a little close to stepping full on it's head at times , but #4 came thru it ok.
Glad everything turned out alright.
Vienam gan tur bēdīgi klājas....😨Beidzot! Viss kārtībā!👌👍❤
Una mamma intelligente e amorevole❤️

They just bring a ball of bog material and there's food inside? I've never seen it before.

Omg that was intense
Very beautiful cute 🥰 baby super 💖 mom 💝
Is that a frog in your throat?! LMFAO
IDK - not sure that was “helping” - #4 almost had its 2nd frog down - legs hard to manage and almost gone until mom snatched it. I’m curious about the feeding - seems the parent moves around quite a bit to see who follows - then kind of drops the food where the most alert get the best chance. Haven’t seen a brood where all 4 leave the nest. 🤞
I have seen many with four in the nest! It was as I described it. I have been observing them intensively since 2013/2014. During the season, every day from dawn to dusk. Brood reduction only occurs when there is too little food. This is confirmed by research and observation.

#4 was choking until mon came and saved the day by removing the obstacle (frog). Nice to see that she helped it out 🥰
😮

Evelyn 🤗
7:47 Urga's beak repeatedly poked her young chick's throat and several minutes later, Urga is brooding them while her laid out chick is in distress - I'm quite sure all that activity didn't help matters much!
Maybe she was checking to see if there was something else stuck in its throat. The obstacle was removed around 5:30
