Ive watched a good many of your videos on different A/T tires. Im putting these same Terriiancontacts on my 2020 Frontier. Im probably 80% highway, 20% dirt roads. Down here in north GA we get every kind of weather and conditions you can think of. Not to mention the herd of deer that tries to commit suicide every year. Thanks for all your great info man. Rock On!
You made make up my mind to buy this tire for my truck keep up the good work. 😎
Right on!
Just purchased these today from Discount Tire they were having a promotion for instant 100 off plus 70 buck mail in rebate. After watching your video i was sold on them. I was comparing them to the Cooper AT3 4s and of course u swayed my decision
That is awesome!
Just ordered a set for my 3500 Silverado. Thanks for the video.
Good choice!
Really good videos and comparisons. Tire Rack also has a comparison of the AT tires for trucks and this one came out on top of the 4 tires they reviewed and tested. I have been looking for something new to last longer than my Michelin Defenders which don't last long towing my 10K load with my Excursion. One 200 mile trip took about 15K off the tires. Didnt have that issue with the former Michelin LTX MS/2 but can't get them in my size anymore. The Contentials look very promising as a tow tire and good traction to boot! Great looking shoulder tread and that should help stability and towing miles. Please keep us posted on how they do over time and the mileage you get on them! Before long, I will take the plunge and likely for the first time go away from the Michelins...by they way...which have saved my Bacon many times with their impressive stopping and wet traction! As you can see, I am reluctant but need something to wear better!
Try these tires. You wont be sorry!
Awesome video! I need some tires on my Tundra Limited and your videos sold me! I have been comparing tires for a few weeks but keep coming back to these! Wish I lived in Virginia so I could get them from you! Love the video content.
Right on!
Chris,
Did you get these tires for your Tundra? If so, your thoughts?
@@steve_ks Yup, have about 12K miles on them and I love them. Really quiet on the highway and great in the rain. Feel really grippy and stable on wet roads. I used them on gravel and dirt roads and get good traction. Even wear so far too after two rotations. You won't be disappointed!
@@LocoD829 Thanks, Chris! The Michelin’s on my Tundra are nearing the end. Did you stick with the stock size and noticeable decrease in mpg’s?
Appreciate the response.
love this channel best tire reviews out there !
Glad you like them!
Great, helped me to decide. I am looking for the quietest off road tires. I drive 90% on the high way, and light off-road.
Glad I could help!
These are them. They are more queit than the H/T version from what I have heard. All the Michelins LTX M/S and or Defender Tires are deff the best but they are not a good looking tire really.
I know newer trucks have much bigger tires than many older trucks, I would like to see a video comparison on 15-inch truck tires. I own a 2003 GMC Sonoma ZR2, I am also new to 4 wheel drive. Every tire place here in Ohio that I have talked to or gone to has no listing for my truck. They list the 6-7 other body styles for the year but not mine. My dilemma is they will not sell me tires on their sales flyers, every one of them says that 31-10.50 - 15 is not the tire that fits my truck...... YET IT SAYS SO ON THE DOOR STICKER and they are on the truck!! the truck has 90000 miles on it, so I am sure the tires have only been replaced once. The most recent deal was on Goodyear tires "buy 2 get 2 free" no matter what I said or did they all refuse to honor their sale. I love your videos and value your experience and knowledge. Would your videos on the bigger tires relate to smaller tires too??????
Your decisions assisted in my decision to purchase and have installed a set of 6 for my Ram 3500 4x4 dually this Wednesday from discount tire. Keep us posted on your wear.
Great to hear!
How did they hold up?
I like the shot of you putting the lug nuts back on, that is a very nice looking tire!
I like to snug them up and put the truck on the ground to hand torque them.
@@CampusautoCo We have 2015 Land Cruiser and it has a 285/65R18 on it and they have about 60% of the tread left. They are very noisy and ride like a log wagon at 60 psi. Looking to replace them and could use some unbiased advice.
This is a nice durable tire, I’m getting a full set for my truck
Nice 👍
Congrats on 2,500 subs!
Thanks!
Do you use balancing beads with your truck tires? I have not heard about this. I have a Ram 1500 that I am putting a set of Continental’s on. Thank you for your feedback.
Just put these on my Titan. They look great on the truck and it looks like they will take some good abuse. Had them mounted black wall out. Thanks for the recommendation Matt!
Thanks for watching!
@@CampusautoCo Matt I only have around 150 miles so far on the new Continentals, to me the truck feels squirmy or wobbly sometimes in turns on the highway and going over bumps again on the highway the tires feel wobbly. Tire pressure is set to 40psi OEM calls for 39. Is there a decent break-in period for these tires? Thanks
Great choice Dave SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Thanks!
Would you put the Grabber APT in about the same/similar category as the Conti? They do have a similar tread profile.
Are these the clear choice over a Michelin LTX A/T 2's?
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put a set of those on my RAM 2500 4X4 pretty soon. They will replace a set of Cooper AT3s. I've never been too keen on the AT3s, particularly in the rain. I'm not a maniac driver, but it seems that these AT3s like to hydroplane whenever possible. The AT3s wore down surprisingly fast. Your mileage may vary. 🙂
One good looking tire
Yes
Show the Ram. I’d like to see the stance with them on. I’m going to grab me a set. Thanks for all the good info
Will do!
My initial 1 month review of the AT’s.. They are really heavy, I have lost almost a mile and a half in mpg.. You can actually feel the weight resistance.. As of today they are still squirmy on the road, not sure how I’m going to like theses overall.. They do look goo on the truck.. The fronts squat under weight far less than the BFG commercial TA’s they replaced. They seem to track well also..
Cool. My tires were heavy too.
New tires will sometimes have an MPG penalty because the old worn down tires were lighter and have less resistance.
Just bought a 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 with the Goodyear Duratrac A/T tires (275/65-R18). They are way too noisy and chunky...howl on the highway. On my last truck had the Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires. I really liked those...very smooth and quiet. However, I am looking at the Continental TerrainContact A/T you show in this video. I don't plan on using the Sierra AT4 much off road, but am looking for a quiet, smooth, and strong tire for 90% + highway driving in Oklahoma. What are your thoughts?
Good choice. You will like the Conti.
Wondering how you think these would perform on a 2023 Yukon Denali? Size would be 275/50/22.
This is what I have been looking for a real review on tires that I was looking at to put on my truck. Where are you located I’m in Virginia too.
I'm in Blacksburg, VA.
putting some on silverado tomorrow. i got about 45,000 out of the stock Goodyear tires. i may have been able to get another 1,000 miles. Rear end was slipping in rain though
Wow, thanks for keeping me posted.
great pick!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Matt, do tires still have colored dots to mount opposite valve stem for balancing purposes? Usually yellow orange or green. If so is that necessary?
I don't see that alot on tires anymore.
Nice tires, I was going to get the Michelin MS2 for my highway driving for my Ram but they are too boring looking, will probably go with these to get a slightly beefier look.
They are pretty good tires. I like them.
They look like a fine tire. My Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10 on my F 150 are coming to the end of their lifespan so I'm shopping for tread. Six to Eight times a year, I pull a travel trailer (around 6200lbs loaded) and was wondering, would be best to stay with the load range SL or move up to an E1? Any guesses at how much the hit on MPG would be adding approximately 20lbs or so per tire?
You can stay wit the Original Load Range that your truck came with. Should be SL.
Would these tires work great for a 2015 ford Explorer XLT?
I was looking at these but I chose the new Continental TerrainContact HT
Same tire, tough construction, different tread, they are way more quiet, better in light snow, and will do all this will do off road, as this is just for light off roading
I have a set of General Grabber X3's for that
And a set of VikingContact 7's for winter
Also on Continental's website the AT gets 7 out 10 for wet braking at the HT gets 10 out 10, best in class
I reviewed the HT on another video coming soon. Good tire.
@@CampusautoCo I look forward to it, maybe put it up against the AT to see how it stacks up against the HT for fun, to see both of there limitations on and off road
No one has ever did that video, believe me I've looked
You are the best tire reviewer on CZcams
All your notifications are turned on, I'll be waiting
The HT is noticeably quieter than the AT? I just bought a new tundra. Came with goodyear wrangler duratrac. Tire is noisy as hell.

I have a 2019 Ram 3500 that is 90% highway driving in WV. What kind of decrease in mpg did you experience? 1 mpg, 2 mpg?? I like the traction aspect but don't want to take a huge hit on mpg. Thanks!!
I saw about a 2 mpg decrease from my worn out Firestone Transforce AT. I also run less pressure in the Continental to help with the ride unloaded.
These are great tires. I have over 50k miles on mine with a decent amount of tread still left - running 275/65R18 (P metric) on my 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser.
Good stuff!
Do you off-road with them ? And how did they do if so ? Thanks
I did some mild off roading with them and they did fine. Also great wet traction. I had a flat a few years ago and am now running Toyo AT3s@@JorgeGonzalez-nc7uk
Hey in future videos like this could I make the suggestion that you mount the new tire since it was a little bigger and put it next to one of the OEM stock ones and show how much difference there is between the two. Speaking for myself and I’m sure others this is one thing other videos out there are lacking. Thanks. Great videos as always appreciate it!👍

I'm new to your video and channel, thank you for posting this video!
if I may ask, has your mileage went up down or stayed the same and also I read some comments elsewhere that they have problems with the Continental terraincontact at hydroplaning?
thanks for your time
Not at all
@@CampusautoCo if I understood you right not at all hydroplaning but how was your gas mileage now that you've had those tires for a while? Thank you so much
has anyone run these or the HT version on a newer ranger? I have a 2020 its the 2wd FX version I drive highway / around town and occasional (rare) light off road / gravel type roads I want to keep the AT look but its a mostly highway truck are these a good choice? I need better rain traction than the hankooks it came with (terrible on wet roads) anyone try them on the smaller trucks? or the HT version???
We have a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The factory tires are Firestone and at 37k need replacing. I am considering this tire or the Continental HT. Do you think the AT would be a good tire for us? We do mostly highway/city driving however live off a gravel road. I like the way the AT looks vs the HT. Thank you.
Either tire would be fine. I would do the Terrain Contact AT if I were you.
@U Betcha I’m in the same boat as you. Which ones did you pick and your thoughts on them so far?
I also need an all around tire. Towing to daily driver and highway to some hunting in the fall. I don't go digging with my truck but do experience mud to gravel and all in between. Still a good choice for the continentals? Currently have KO2s on my Ram. Looking for a more quiet ride.
Oh yeah, I think you would be happy with the Conti's
G Man, you don't need fancy tires for that. Even a cheap plastic sedan riding on cheap economy bicycle wheels can do all the work you described. So Continentals will be more than enough.
They look very similar to the general apt that I’m thinking about getting. Just not a lot of reviews on them
I just finished a video on the General Grabber APT
Hi,, I would like to switch my Disco5 tires 255/55 R20 to 275/55 R20. I like off-roading but I’m not doing much. Wt do you recommend discoverer AT3 or Continental AT?
Yes. For you this would be a good choice!
Any updates on the tires as the mileage adds up? Pros or Cons with any part of the tire, ride quality, wear? Thanks
I have put over 15000 miles on them and there is no perceptible wear yet. They do have some more road noise over the OE Firestone's though.
I would like a comparison between the and a similar Michelin tire.
Between the Continental Terrain Contact A/T and the Nitto Terra Grappler G2, which is the better tire?
Continental
Im considering these in an e rating for my '19 yukon xl to replace the passenger version of the same tire. Would you say these bring the same kind of ride and noise benefits to the lt segment that they do the passenger tire segment? I like the idea of an e rated tire for overall strength and the occasional boat and camper trailer towing and I thought these would be a better option than most e rated tires. But also wondering if its complete overkill for a half ton, even with the heavy towing. Thanks for the videos!
It would make the ride a little rougher and may make more noise but they will give you extra strength. It may not be necessary though.
Thanks Matt for your video. I’m in Washington and cannot find them, everyone is out of stock.
Sorry to hear that
Good looking tires! I wonder why there was such a weight difference?
I think because it has more tread and some of the materials are different.
Test numbers are shockingly surprising!
meh
I put a set of these on my Ram 2500 this week. Seem to be pretty good but my passenger seat shakes as I drive down the road. Is this a balancing issue?
My truck shakes some too. Find a shop with a hunter road force balancer.
Are these 10 ply tires? I am a Mobile Detailer and carry a water tank and usually haul 500-700 pounds of water so I need a 10 ply tire so they don't wear too quick.
Yes, they do make some sizes in load range E
Thanks for the post. Any more info after a couple of months? I'm considering to buy them this week. Would you say it is one of the quietest AT tires on the market? I do 95% driving on pavement so need a comfy ride. Thanks
They are pretty quiet. I like them. It is one of the quietest on the market.
@@CampusautoCo Thanks again
I’ve been seriously considering these tires for my 2018 Titan. I live in the Northeast and do mostly city/ highway driving. Would these tires give me secure traction for rain and pretty mild snow/ ice situations?
Yes and Yes.
@@CampusautoCo Thank you!
Great video.
Thanks for the visit
They dont have my size that I want on my 20 F250. 295 65 R20.. How does this compare to the BFG KO2 and the other tire Im looking at Geolander x a/t...good review Subscribed
It's smoother and quieter but not as aggressive. It should last longer but it's not 3 peak rated for snow.
i got almost the same needs as you except towing needs lighter truck and i do some light off road gravel roads , what would you choose betewen terrain contact or toyo open country 2, and i live in mexico in relly hot weather bidgetone dueler revo 2 just last 30k miles so im looking for something better and that last longer.
Thanks
terrain contact
Alberto Gomez I had a Ram Rebel that had the toyos and I was not impressed with them. I got these continentals and they did not let me down ever. I’ve driven through mountains, snow, and those icy situations where everyone is stuck in the ditch. Also did a lot of off roading through Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Would you put these tires on a Tundra TRD Pro? If not, what tire would you recommend that has somewhat aggressive look, but rides quiet on the highway? I live in the warm south with not a lot of snow. Thanks
No, not on a TRD Pro. It's not aggressive enough. I would put the General Grabber ATX on a TRD Pro.
Campus Automotive Inc Thanks
I have a 2011 Tundra TRD Rock Warrior. I was thinking about getting the General Grabber ATX. Glad to hear you recommend it.
The Firestone Transforce AT on my 2018 ram 2500 are at the wear bars with only 15,000 miles. Never been off road. They are 275/70 R18. Total junk. I am thinking about the Continental Terrain Contact A/T
Try them out.
If you put those 275/55-20 that are pictured why did you down size from a 285/60-20 ?
They are 285/60-20. I didn't down size. I might have miss spoke.
Did you align the yellow dot on the sidewall with the valve stem on the wheel when you mounted the tire? Lots and lots of tire shops have no clue what the yellow sidewall dots mean. Less wheel weight needed when aligning the dots with the valve stem. Nice looking tire. Should be quite.
None of them do it, they just slam weights, on which their out of calibration balancer says
Easy killer. Didn't you see me use pin plates!
Not in the 30 seconds that I watched, at least all your videos are reasonably short but I still skip around to the meat and potatoes
What about the goodyesr adventurer w/kevlar? 3PMS
Good in snow and rated 80% highway.
Why did you choose the Continental over the Goodyear? What were the main reasons?
The Goodyear didn't make the first cut. I would not even consider it. They are louder and wear out faster.
Got to get a new set of tires for my wife's expedition. she wants something that rides as good as her Michelins, but looks a little more aggressive. we live down a mile long dirt road but other than that all highway any recommendations?
This tire will work fine for you. You could also try the Toyo Open Country AT3
Campus Automotive Inc between the Continental Terrain Contact AT and the Toyo Open Country AT3.. how big of a difference is there? I don’t do a lot of off-roading but NJ weather can throw a lot of things at you. I read that the Open Country AT3’s are awesome though. Torn between the two..
Any reason these tires don't come in LT versions?
They do. My tires are LT.
Was there a drop in MPG with the heavier tire? I've seen that it's a 9 lb per tire difference.
Yes and they ride a bit rougher.
Campus Automotive Inc what mpg drop did you see? I have the same truck
@@3wheelife I put 275/65-20 on my truck a couple of weeks ago. They were a lot cheaper than the 285/60-20 plus lighter. I've noticed no drop in mpg.
How do these tires compare to Nitto Terra Grappler G2?
This tire is a little better. The Nitto is good but it is more of a direct comparison to the BFG K02.
So how are these after you have some miles on them. I`m looking for tires for my 2017 super duty 6.7. I really like the Michelin LTX A/T 2s because they are quite but not sure if i want to put out the $$ for them. I don`t go off road so not really sure what to get. But I go to Canada snowmobiling every other weekend from NYso it has to be good in the snow. What would you pick.
I've got 13,000 miles on them so far. Little to no wear to speak of.
@@CampusautoCo Thanks I`ve been looking at them and the Falken`s and Toyo`s for awhile. It`s ruff trying to pick. LOL
@@chasf1066 Hey, if you haven't put them on yet, go read the reviews at the Tire Rack website. They tested these against Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3s, Cooper Discovere AT3 4S, and a Pirelli I think. The Continentals did awesome and were the hands down winner of their review - until they got to the winter test. They were the worst of the 4 tires in snow and ice. So, great tires if you don't see much snow and ice, but the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's might be better for you if you do a lot of snow and ice driving!
@@RickinICT Hey thanks, Yeah I`m in NY and we snowmobile all winter long in Canada. So I need something good in the snow.
I noticed your expression after you
mounted one of the new tyres... More tyre reviews and customer feedback back please. 🙏🏾🖖🏾🇿🇦
Ok. I'll try to get that.
Was there any difference in mpg?
Yes. Slight drop around town. This tire has more rolling resistance than the OE Firestone's.
I want the HT version for my 4x2 F-150 265/65/18. Do you ship?
No, sadly I don't ship yet. Check out the Tirebuyer Link in the Description.
You threw me off on the weight conversation because a 275/55/20 was shown (in video) for the Contis which weigh 40 lbs but I assume you used the factory size of 285/60/20 which weigh 65 pounds mainly because of the change in load ratings between sizes more than the actual size. I see the Firestones are 56 and 65 for the Contis. They both have similar load ratings so I would assume the Contis might use a bit more in the sidewall based on your rougher ride comment. I have a set of the Contis on my Escalade and they were actually lighter than the factory Bridgestone but I would say the sidewalls are a bit softer as well. Overall mine are wearing very well so I would expect you should see your 50k goal.
Awesome, thank you for the feedback!
It would be helpful if anyone that has purchased these tires, would kindly and clearly mention the U.S. state, or country they are being utilized in.
I have personally purchased four sets in Blacksburg, VA USA
Have the same Truck, You went with 275 55 20?
Yes. I stayed with the factory size.
How are they for plowing?
Not as good as the Grabber ATX
Is there any concern to be had with adding the extra weight to each wheel??
No. Not really.
@@CampusautoCo ok, I was wondering if an upgrade to the factory shocks was necessary due to the added weight of the tire. I'll be replacing the OEM tires on my 2020 f150 but now I won't be concerned about the shocks.
How are these tires doing now after nearly a year?
Stay tuned. I have a 20,000 mile update coming soon.

I wish Continental would make a 295 65 R20 to stuff in my 7.3 F250....I just want 35's vs the Michelin 34's on there now.
They are pretty limited in sizes once you get out of the OE range.
The key word was "Light winters" not good for Canada.
TOYO OR YOKOHAMA
NO size 235/70/16 ... WTF?
No but you can get the General Grabber APT

These tires are horrible in winter and deep snow, cheers... but wait, your testing is done only alone and on flat terrain, so figures... that they might work for you. You mostly go for expensive but poor tires that have good sale returns...
I disagree
