I would have loved to see the Pride of the Core in Star Wars The Clone Wars, as the Republics response to the Subjugater class dreadnoughts, maybe another C.I.S. one out in the open, and the two vessels face off against one another.

Giant ship Vs Giant Ship (So a dreadnought duel) would been a great thing to get to see. Sadly, I feel like most warship engagements in SW are either from the point of view of fighter pilots (protagonists), background/set up elements, or quick engagements. Would be great to actually see an official budget animated battle scene where they go all out showing just how devastating it is when two dreadnoughts are slugging it out, pulling no punches, blasting away until one is history. Sure, the screen might be completely full of turbolaser fire, but hey, it's what you get when you put thousand gunned behemoths against each other.

That's why Palpatine took over the galaxy to begin with, to unite it and buildup a military power strong enough to defeat the larger threat. But then the rebels camein and destroyed all that. favorite ship so far is the Praetor 2.
first time i saw it was several years ago, in the mod "Thrawn's Revenge" for Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption.
scenario: i see it, read its description, built it, and send it to a lightly defended planet with a few Corvette escorts to test it out. it goes up against a level one station, two Golan I defense platforms, and a small New Republic fleet with some light dreadnoughts in it. i send in a Corvette to scout around, find out where the platforms are, and get rid of some fighter squadrons. after about a minute or so, the map cleared up and i could see everything.
when i called in the Praetor 2, i *did not* expect it to look like a Doritos chip with a bulge in the back. i also *did not* expect it to be able to snipe targets from across the map, have the amount of firepower it did, and have such tanky shields.
this thing just casually made its way to the NR space station and started shooting at the defense platforms beside it. the a.i sent fighters, i called in a few more Corvettes to deal with them while the Praetor obliterated the platform in under a minute. the NR fleet moves away from the station and belines it right towards the Praetor, it is now targeting the other defense platform, and two of the NR dreadnoughts at the same time. at this point i'm laughing myself silly, just watching this thing go to town on everything bigger than a fighter, dropping shields in a few seconds and destroying multiple hardpoints in the same salvo. it destroys the NR dreadnoughts and starts firing at the station. along comes the last NR dreadnought, parking itself between the Praetor and the station. the shield drops and all of its hardpoints go from green to yellow to red at the same time, some kind of glitch i think. the dreadnought exploded and the station soon followed. what is left of the NR forces retreat into hyperspace. i build three more Praetors, send them to join the first one, and attack the NR held world of Fondor. this time around, the planet is defended by two level 3 platforms, two level 2 platforms, with a few MC80s guarding the level 3 station.
i called the fleet of four Praetor 2s and Corvettes the "Nacho Sweet and Spicy Chess Doritos" because the NR defenses couldn't repel flavor of that magnitude!

Man, the warships we see in the Galactic Civil War and after that in both Canon and Legends sure were rare during the Clone Wars. Though it’s safe to say they were more common before the Ruusaan Reformations. If there’s one thing the people behind those reformations could be proud of is that the next galactic scale war taking place after the wars against the Sith didn’t have too many of these giant super warships, though the Empire of course officially ended the era of no super warships. And after that the giant ships began to become as common as they were over a thousand years ago. Makes me wonder if giant warships were more expensive during the Clone Wars and the Old Republic era than they were before and after that.

Even though the Venator was a great ship, they struggled when taking on the Lucrehulks that the CIS used. I like to think that the Praetor was a perfect counter. With Venators to provide starfighters and escort, the Praetor would have been a wonderful ship to see in battle.

The best example of these retrofits is the Bellator class. Which is a mandator 3 Outfeed with a second reactor, an up-rated HyperDrive, slightly more weapon systems, and (most notably) extremely advanced engines, that allowed it to be faster than some Corellian freighters, (with the engines at full power I have seen them out run a CR90…for about 90 seconds).

@@isimiel3405 We dont know for sure, but we can guess a very rough estimate. Most sources usually list a blaster's cost for around a few hundred credits. Compare this to your average modern day handgun, also ranging form a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars, this suggest that credits are worth somewhere in the ballpark of about 1 - 20 dollars. Also with ships being nearly as ubiquitous and as affordable as higher end cars in star wars, we know a very cheap ship can cost a little more than ten thousand credits, which is the equivalent of a 20,000 to 100,000 dollar car, roughly. Or it can be compared with the cheaper end of aircraft which usually go for a few hundred thousand.
So if you really want to be generous on the exchange rate and go for a 1 to 20 ratio, that 158 million credits would equate to 3.16 billion USD, or under half the cost of a modern ford class aircraft carrier.

A ship with 100,000 crew seems like, even with crew rotation and the like, that you'd have a bunch of people watching energy conversation conduits and power relay systems. Pressing buttons sometimes to prevent power surges or redirecting power through back up systems as required.

Everyone that has played EaW: Fall of the Republic, and is a fellow separatist Commander, has probably still nightmares from the Praetor. On it's own it is no threat for my fleet. But it's terrifying as part of a larger republic fleet. Why? It's offensive capability may be weak compared to it's size, but it's firepower shouldn't be underestimated either. The main threat however comes from it's capabilities as a flying fortress. The Praetor's shields and armor are beyond sanity and you'll lose many ships if you make the mistake of fighting this behemoth at close range.
The best tactic against a fleet supported by a Praetor, as far as I know, is a coordinated starfighter strike. Attack the Battleship with all fighters and bombers you can spare and take out it's shields and engine. Then send the majority of your starfighters against other targets, but still bombard the Dreadnought. This should weaken the enemy fleet enough to destroy it without heavy casualties. Never engage a Praetor fleet at close range, because it will force you to choose between bad and worse. If you focus on the Praetor, your ships will be destroyed by the other republic warships. If you decide to focus on the other ships, your fleet will be bombarded by the Praetor and you'll lose many ships as well. And if you decide to attack both you have already lost, because you don't have enough firepower.

I'm kinda surprised that there were not 2 likely scenarios involving these super heavy warships given the way the Clone Wars were fought and who was actually behind them.
#1: Palpatine sends a secretly built fleet of these super heavy destroyers deep into Separatist space to wreak havoc on the Separatist core worlds; and #2: Palpatine uses these super heavies in false flags against Republic worlds as a means of gaining support for the war and increasing funding. I understand the Palpatine used the war as a means of generating fear and unrest across the galaxy for the purpose of overwhelming the ability of the Jedi to use the Force. Ships like these would have been a major force multiplier, even if all they did was show up over a planet, fire off a single volley, then jump out to the next world.

I don’t know if Death Star cannon dreadnoughts were added by Disney but if they were then it was a major fail
Using the emp ship shown in clone wars season 1 use by grievous in trials before being destroyed the return of the ship would’ve made sense and would be less like a bad plot ploy
Ignoring the bombers the scene was still dumb and was just to get the viewer some early action and to get a cheap wow over a plot moving device
The rebels could be trying to get the big ships packed before the emp fires and then after the large cargo ships take off the emp ship could peruse them before they could jump to hyperspace and from the start there could be a great dogfight battle in space and bombing all to buy more time
The ship is just as if not more op, but it is also familiar to Star Wars and it would make sense that they would try a different technology after the Death Star failed because it was too clumsy because it couldn’t take out an attacking fleet
The emp ship while not destroying a planet would certainly cripple the civilization

Can you imagine if countries like the U.S. pulled the Republic BS? "Hey states, you are going to protect yourself, raise and fund your own military, but you are not allowed to raise and fund them except how 'we the federal government wants' even if you need to. States, you will also enforce FEDERAL laws with only extreme cases that have spiraled out of control being considered to be reinforced by Judicial forces. Some states will also provide representation in the Senate for neighboring smaller states who won't get to be actually represented at all technically. That said, you all have to pay federal taxes still anyways.
I am surprised something like the clone wars didn't occur sooner in the 1000 years of the stupid post ruusan reformation time period. Seriously, taxation with no representation, protection, or true autonomy somehow equated to 1000 years of peace, growth and paradise? A mystical force like the force existing is more believable than that fairy tale garbage.
