Dominique was the cleanest dunker ever. No "thrunks", no ball rattling around inside the rim, etc. He straight punched that shit through the goal like a volleyball spike, with full power and full extension. Fucking beautiful.
you described it fucking perfectly !!!
Morgan Lee true
Morgan Lee described it sooo perfect
Morgan Lee na its Julius Erving have you seen one his most famous dunk where he rocked the baby to sleep

1. I've never seen anyone elevate that fast.
2. I've never seen so many double clutch dunks.
3. I've never seen so many putback dunks.

Best In-game dunker in the history of NBA
Yes! It was amazing that he was able to do these amazing dunks while weaving through traffic and taking contact.
His power and athleticism is incredible.
He used to put his own teammates on posters with his putback dunks 🤣

Criminally underrated not even voted for top 50 players in NBA history. Blasphemy.
I'd pick him over Lebron James on any all time roster
You're totally right. He averaged 25ppg and 7rpg for his career. It doesn't seem right that he doesn't get included in any top lists.

Nique was Nique. He didn't have to talk because you just witnessed.
He trashed other guys with his freakin dunk
You don't need to say shit when you dunk that hard!
The Omni.
What an athlete. These are 30 years ago, yet still one of the sickest dunks I've ever seen.
Some are pushing 40. It’s wild.
Can't even imagine the social media hype if he played in the todays NBA
alihan765 he would have been Blake Griffen.
Reido S
Come on, man.
Dominique Wilkins had all the moves and was creative with the basketball in his hands. He was more than just a dunker and way better than Blake Griffin!
OfficialJRSmith .. Dominique Wilkins would have been even more hyped than Zion, in my opinion! I know it was a different racial climate in the late 1970’s, but Wilkins and his family were receiving death threats when he was coming out of high school in NC. It was because he chose Georgia over playing for UNC or NC State!
I don't think Nique would be all that into social media...MEN back then we'rent so self-absorbed, chatty and petty.
Most underrated player of all time
Ohhhhh yes!!!!!
No bernard king is.
It was a travesty when the NBA put out their 50 greatest players list and he was left off yet a rookie Shaq got put on.
He and elgin baylor and elvin hayes.
Let me just tell y’all . Mjs greatness can’t be denied , but if you were from anywhere in the south in the 80s Dominique was our guy . He got robbed in Chicago and of course was always compared to Michael . He didn’t have the overall game Mike did I’ll admit . But this man was a machine, a true superstar that sadly gets forgotten . Unbelievable athlete that averaged 25 or more for ten straight years only a few have done that . He was durable tough and brought it every night even after a Achilles injury back in the day ,he came back with a vengeance. He deserves so much more credit than what he gets . This man is an all time great . There hasn’t been a player before or since that did what he did at the rim . And don’t hit me with Vince . Closest thing is kemp , but Dominique was more consistent and had more longevity .
Look what he did in heavy traffic. He was a beast.
I’m a Jordan fan boy and nique got robbed in Chicago. Absolutely.
Nique and his Hawks were always competitive too, but were unfortunate to play in the East against some ridiculously stacked Pistons, Celtics, Bucks, Cavs and Bulls teams.
@@dl3988 east was a slaughterhouse
Agreed...Nique beat MJ but it was in Chicago....Nique is the most powerful dunker in NBA history....nobody could spring and explode with such ferocity and speed like Nique to this day....MJ is the second greatest dunker IMO and Vince probably 3rd
I wanted to be Dominique Wilkins when I was younger. He will always be my favorite basketball player.
He was my favorite player as well!
Nique and Kemp dunked with so much power and anger, me likey!!!
Me likey too! Love Nique!
Truth!!!
Também concordo contigo. Kemp e Wilkins são excepcionais na jogada dunk; acrescento também Michael Jordan e Ben Wallace.
Wilkins is one of the best traffic, two feet jumping, double clutching, 360 layup, windmill dunking, no look passing, offensive rebounding maniac!
The tip dunks are just insane.
Yes!
The absolute FEROCITY at 3:58 😳
The only man whose dunks were measured on the Richter scale!
The man attacked the rim with savage ferocity!
I always respected the way he conducted himself after a huge dunk over another player. Not some stare down or trash talk. Humble man.
Yep I noticed that.
It doesn’t bother me at all when people go crazy after dunking on someone..but it’s pretty remarkable how it was never a big deal to him.
For us these are iconic posters. To Nique, it was Tuesday lol
He left nothing to be said after the dunk. 😂
Nique Wilkins was one of the greatest dunker in NBA history. Best Windmills ever.
One of the most UNDERRATED players of ALL TIME! The Human Highlight Film!
chucky bourne yeah second best dunker ever
Man I love how serious basketball was in the golden age !!!!!!!!!INTENSE
dominique and kemp, are the best when it comes to power dunking, by far.
Darryl Dawkins was ferocious and let's not forget Shaq.
they say people more athletic today, but i don't see nobody dunking like this boy
You don't have to be the best athlete to be the best dunker. Your comment is irrelevant.
They mean the majority of the atheletes are more atheletic today than the majority before, but Wilkins was obviously one of the tops dogs ever
They mean the majority of the atheletes are more atheletic today than the majority before, but Wilkins was obviously one of the tops dogs ever
They are not more athletic. Today's players are just full in dope. Just watch their body. Old players during old era had natural muscles and body. That's why they could perform in that way. No chemicals in their body...
Nobody took it to the basket better than this Man!
Dude had one of the quickest jumps ever. No time needed to power up
Finally a highlight reel that does him justice
TheGreatScottHall Hey yo!
Agree, Scott Hall. 😁
If there ever was a perfect image/footage of grace combined with power, Wilkins truly epitomized it.
Grace is the wrong word used here my dude
@@LlLnig In a way it is, grace until he pulls the trigger
I've legit never seen any other player dunk it like Wilkins....... regardless of era.... his 2 hand dunks are insane
My favorite NBA player of all time. No one could dunk with the style, power and fluidity that Wilkins could. Dude was a badass.
I always thought he was the GOAT in-game dunker, and I still think that way !
He was like Rodman and Kemp mixed together, major hustle under the rim for rebounding, followed up by jaw dropping dunks that ripped your face off !
@Richard Ramsawh yes
Richard Ramsawh dont put blake and wilkins in the same sentence
A legitimate superstar and the most underrated player in history. Had no help around him. Had great range as well.
Greatest overall in-game dunker of alltime imo. Power dunks, authority, style, 1 leg or 2, alley oop/put back jams, double pump with fouls, ferocious windmill, just could do it all! Others like VC may have more style but they didnt have the same power/authority of Nique
He dunked on everyone so much, the greatest players of all time learned to run away. MJ, Larry Legend, Magic, Hakeem, even Dennis Rodman are on video, running out of frame when Nique was bearing down on them.
couldn't agree more, sir!
@@jamesmccreery250 Well, there was two ways this was going down, it's just whether you want to be on TV later or not.
A weirdly disrespected, all time great player... Loved 'Nique
Nique is the best "in game" dunker to have played.
Him and Vince Carter
And Kemp
The Human Highlight film was my childhood favorite but after watching Vince Carter I think Vince edged him out by a little bit!
Tyree Bond Nique is my childhood as well, my favorite over Jordan and that was because I jumped off two feet better than the one two. Lol But Nique jumping off two feet in close proximity the way he did is just crazy! The Human Highlight film had more style than Vinsanity. Look at Nique body, legs & movement his style while dunking with power like that. Vince was just INSANE! Lol not as stylish.
@@000lowkey Stylish??? Nique was a power dunker! He was nearly a one-trick pony because his most famous and constant same dunk was some version of a windmill. Although it looked really good it was nowhere near Vince Carter when it came to stylish dunks, come on man Vince Carter through one off the backboard in a game , that in itself is quite stylish and creative!
Best power dunker of all time. Underrated great player!
Crazy how 30 something years later, NBA players are still doing Dominique's dunk. THAT'S how legendary he is.

Best in game dunker of all time: either Dom Wilkins or Shawn Kemp. You can’t go wrong with either of them.
Tom Chambers and Clyde Drexler also come to mind as great in traffic dunkers.
VC🤷♂
Oh, for the springs in his legs. Supernatural talent, the gift that enlivens the pulse rate.
without doubt the best dunker I've ever seen.......truly phenomenal
It took me damn near 30 mins to watch this reel. I had to replay every dunk twice!!!
Very underrated player. One of the best to ever play. And if not the best, top 3 easily one of the most exciting, ferocious dunkers of all time.
Gawwwwd DAMN 😲😲😲 This man was cocking it back, reversing, double pumping, all with 2 hands and jumping off of both feet on everybody!!!! Good Lord there hasn't been a player freakishly athletic and consistent as him since. Not even in today's league
growing up, I thought Jordan was the best... arguably for many reasons even beyond his style and competitiveness... but, now, looking at old footage again, Nique was just a beast, and had an incredible IQ. really humble and genuinely excited when he or his teammates scored. really underrated player
I wonder how he didn't make the NBA Top 50 players of all time
Agreed Dominique dunks arqually better than Vince
I agree Nique was my fav growing up, just loved his style of play and the humility he displayed, is was something that Jordan lacked. I understood Mike was the best, but Wilkins was always my pick.
The Hawks just didn't build a championship team around this guy. We would be talkin' of a diff story now.
Jirdan was a better shooter and a MUCH better defender than nique
Dude just DRIVES the ball like a nail into the floor when he dunks.
Dominique's explosion from the ground to the hoop was so unreal. Truly a genetic freak of nature and worth the price of admission all by himself. If the Hawks had ever actually tried to put a few more all star caliber guys around him Atlanta could've made some real noise in that era. My favorite player ever to this day. I also always loved the way the crowds would, in unison, go "Whooooooooooooooommmmppp" when he dunked the ball, and they did it in both home games and on the road, thats how special this guy was
One of the most PURE SCORERS EVER!! Freaking legend!
nobody likes to put on a show like the freak. He played with so much heart truly one of a kind
The greatest "in game" dunker i have ever witnessed.
No no no.....that would be vince carter.
Nique just does windmills but vince dunks really looks dangerous.
How can one lose that debate after jumping over a 7'2" 👨.
Love both but im taking vince then nique.
dominic has skill and his dunks are out of this world. Best dunker
The junk Shawn Kemp did in a scrimmage at SPU in Fall of 1995... dude... Chest at the rim on an alley oop from the Glove.... Straight up nipple banging it. It was like the Superman dunk but 2 hands... might be in some old sonic scrimmage footage... The assholes who moved them to Oklahoma probably deleted it all.
Yep either Wilkins or Kemp. Carter isn’t far behind either.
yeah right
Nique’s one of those guys who’d be great in any era. Such an amazing in-game dunker!
That dunk sound! Only Dominique and Shawn Kemp had it.
Yamming on that rim
And wilt before them. And wilt was actually holding back his true power or else there would have been a broken backboard every dunk lol
@@charcoalcowboy gets not forget Daryl Dawkins chocolate thunder lol

He wasn't an all around player at all. He was a great player but one dimensional. He developed into a decent rebounder later on but he wasn't an all around player
Nique never had a hall of fame coach'/!!! He was traded to the Clippers Lenny Wilkens' first year'/!!!
@Wahoo Cavalier exactly. he had an ok at best jumper. He was a great great player but these dudes in these comments don't know shit lol. I'd take bernard king over him any day and these dudes don't even know him

Shit he was a better all around player after he got hurt than before. Bernard was a whole different cat though. That dude gotta be the most underrated player ever
@Wahoo Cavalier these dudes nowadays should know about him like they know about them other 80s cats. They didn't even put him on the 50 greatest team. That's a disgrace

That's why someone says he was not included in the top 50 players of all time: he showed no respect for so many of the guys who had the power to vote that day (they voted themselves for the most part anyway: see wikipedia). Nique dunked over everybody. Nique also always said what he tought in the interviews and that's another thing many players didn't like at all.
The charging half-circle belonged to him; best not be in there when he came down the lane.
Coach: " There's no clear path to the basket. There's a Center under the hoop on D"

Still till this day Wilkins remains one of the top five greatest dunkers ever!
This guy is so long and athletic he had time to jump, curl up, bring the ball down, look at you and dunk with authority. What a beast!
Probably the most underrated player in the history of the game. True superstar with a garbage supporting cast
That's an insult to garbage everywhere. When Doc Rivers and Kevin Willis are your top guys to count on in the clutch to help you out while...
Bird has Mchale, Parish, Ainge, and DJ
Jordan has Pippen, Grant, et al
Isiah has Dumars, Vinnie Johnson, Laimbeer, Rodman
...your team is going home no matter how many points he hangs on the opponent...
No question about it. Dominique was simply sensational! One of NBA’s greatest players ever!
Dominique actually had good teams..he had SPUD WEBB, Doc Rivers, Kevin Willis, Antonine Carr n others..the issue was the Celtics, Bad Boys, and eventually the Bulls were just too damn good. Simply the best dunker ever.
I have been watching the NBA since the '70s, and while there have been plenty of extremely athletic and impressive dunkers, none have really come close to matching 'Nique. The combination of hang-time, vertical, ferocity, and clean finishes was really unique (no pun intended).
Shawn Kemp came close, but Dominique produced 20 scintillating dunks for every one of Kemp's. I grew up in Chicago, and have the greatest respect for Michael, but in terms of in-game dunking, it was really no contest.
Forget about all of the props and gimmicks seen in todays sad dunk contests - 'Nique in action during games, as this video illustrates so well, is yet to be matched, let alone improved on.
Paul Warfield i think vince carter is the best overrall dunker i put dominique second tho
I can see the argument, but I'm sticking with 'Nique. It may have something to do with the fact that I was really focussed on the NBA back then, and what he did against some great athletes was incredible.

This is why he is my favorite player of all time
Gets my vote for Greatest two foot jumper/dunker ever, by far.
Even michael jorden respected him and you know he did not respect everybody ...Michael said in one interview the only player that can dunk on me and actually get that off is Dominique Wilkins
I love how Larry Bird, one of the greatest players of all time, was willing to get totally owned by Wilkins, hitting his head on the backboard and putting an outstretched shooting hand in the way of possibly the most savage dunker of the most savage era of the NBA. Today's "best", while possibly better technically trained, will just get out of the way. Lesson to those of today and future, respect is not getting out of the way of greatness, respect is giving greatness your best challenge.
