Uh... why do that when it is a completely outdated technology in every way possible? For aesthetic? Aesthetic can be COPIED flawlessly IF someone wanted to make a throwback, but why even do this for something no one even has to?
There aren't many photo framed styled fighters out there. You can't replicate a photo with full motion without making it look to cartoonish. The only reason this stopped was cause it was thought it'd be cheaper than hiring real people. Yes, tech has moved up but still with somethings you can't make it any better
The concept was quite impressive for its time. It's a side-scroller Mortal Kombat-style game with WWF wrestlers. I almost forgot that Midway had owned MK before Warner.
Yeah, the studio that WB owns is Netherrealm Studios, and is basically, the last remembrance of what once was Midway. That's why MK games haven't lost a step and keep progressing.
Used to play this on the mega drive and we went for holiday to southafrica, the famous sun city. I found an arcade machine that had this game. After playing for 5 minutes i looked back and had about 15 people was stood behind me watching.... all those hours payed off for that 1 moment lol
This arcade game was simply Epic (The machine itself) The HQ Audio (It's Midway doing what they did best creating something eye catching it felt very special putting a quarter in the machine and playing this game! Every 90's Midway Cabinet was awesome imo (I remember seeing the The Total Carnage Machine for the 1st time still to this day it's a surreal memory (so many younger people can never experience these points and time (Is sad) at the time it had a huge line of teens/adults wanting to play it very much like MK3, Ultimate MK3 and MK4........ Awesome footage

Games these days are so focused on graphics that forgot about the feel the players should be getting from it. Nintendo was the only one with they Wrestle mania series that could match the arcade game styles

syit looks way better than the crap they are offering these days in the name of CGI. even the gameplay is straight forward with all their moves. It shows how much effort they put in with the limited technology and data they had those days.

One little history is that Taker would allow them to digitize him in the game BUT under 1 condition: he asked for a large bottle of jack daniels. Another is there was going to be others in the game but the production was already done and those wrestlers were cut from the game.
Midway made this and mortal kombat, using the same engine. Along with NFL Blitz. Another game that needs a reboot. Even just a remaster would be great for this game. A couple wrestlers in this game had since passed away though, so it would be a good dedication to them. Saturday Night Slam Masters would be awesome with n HD remake as well.

So it would cost me $2 for a full game. If another person challenged me, I would always leg drop on them after I tackled them.
the saddest thing about this gem of a game is that there was never a sequel. nowadays this could go on forever like Smash Ultimate on Switch, just add different arenas based on PPV/TV events, add J.R and King Voicework, add new characters to the roster on the regular. that game would would be played for years. Vince these days really is just about turning down easy money.
This is the kind of wrestling game that needs a reboot 💯 Especially with the graphics and technology of modern games it would be BADASS.

It was something truly special how Midway implemented digitized graphics and over the top gameplay
