Great video my man! Definitely going to pick up the Sigma though. That low light is horrendous!
Hey Chris, thanks for the review. Only one around with a decent enough bitrate to judge any semblance of quality with the a6300/a6500. Just picked one up for around $120 used for use on my zhiyun crane v2. Didn't want to pony up the extra $$$ for the Sigma 16mm 1.4 when my only use for it would be on the gimbal. I already have the 18-35 1.8, it's just too damn heavy.
Let me know what you think Mark...are your videos (ex: “Daddy”) shot w the 18-35? I really hate changing lenses (and cleaning sensor) so have been contemplating that setup. Is it THAT heavy and awkward? Even handheld??
Everything I shoot is with the 18-35. As a lens, yeah, it's pretty heavy. But I come from using the BMCC with it, so overall it's still a very light setup. On a tripod, slider, or even handheld, it's just fine.
I too have been tempted to get the setup but really trying to refrain from doing it. The reason I got a mirrorless apsc is just so I can have a gunslinger style light camera for walking around. I can't believe now I have to mount a ton of weight in front. It would have been cheaper to get a used Canon 77D with this lens and end up with similar weight.
This is also the reason I held off getting this Sigma 16mm lens.
*I bought the F.18 and that was a Mistake. Should have gotten the f2.8 for that wide angle vlogging setup that I use. Now that I've seen what it can Do I'm excited to get it.*
Yeah. I like actually the silver lenses. I still have an 18-55 kicking around in silver from my NEX-5 and it comes in handy.
Chosen Idea haha it’s growing on me...slowly :)
OK for videos, where sharpness is not as critical as for stills.
This lens and the Ultra Wide Converter x0.75 = AWESOME!
You basically get 2 wide prime lenses (12mm & 16mm) for the price of one prime lens! (Rokinon 16mm f2). I got my "set" for less than $200 used! That's over $140 saved over the Rokinon variant.
OOOhhh now I'm interested. That's much cheaper than buying this $450 beast. Also, the sigma weighs more than a small child...
Hananias Q can fuzziness in raw be fixed by software? Better than kit lens for night and wide field of view?
Deymm good review man, underrated CZcamsr 😭
Great review! I'd love to see some more pixel peeking though, like the sharpness on the edges zoomed in %400
4k is only 11MP and cuts off the corners so it's probably plenty of sharp at f2.8 compared to 24MP photos.
But probably the 16-50 kit zoom with IS is better for vlogging.
Thanks for the video!
What's the point of seeing it at 400%? 😂😂
@@palaHD literally no reason to see it at 400%
Nice review... Thanks
Thank you very much for this review.
I am now guessing between these two lenses.
Let me know what you decide! I’m looking at the 18-35 and 16mm Sigmas right now!
Hey Chris ! which lens do you think is best for me to use? I am in the fitness industry and I want to shoot sharper videos while im working out . Cheers
Hi, I am interested in this lens. But I have one major concern about its autofocus in video . Do you think its autofocus is usable for vlog? Thanks
Hola, para cuando podria estar una review del sigma 16mm 1.4 ??? buen video man!!!!!
+AnaM F de lo pronto que puedo comprar!!
I like your energy dude, we would be friend irl, i'm just sayin
Bahahah I'm sure we would!! I like your videos too!
Sony 16mm f2.8 is not working on my zv e10☹️ plz help me...
Since you have IBIS, so those lenses both work. I have an age old SONY 16mm and the sigma 35mm and a a6000 body, so can’t really use it walking or moving too much. I either use the old Sony E kit or just RX100 for vlogging purposes. But the wideness and aperture are nice and photographing indoors it works because of the wideness.
IBIS = lifesaver. I can only imagine without it. I would be DOOMED!!
Title caught my eye........Then there's a Texas License plate? Then we're in Austin? Stoked to find your channel man! I will likely pick up that Sigma lens as well but I have no idea how much I would use it considering the type of stuff I usually shoot around Austin. Looking forward to more videos!!
Hi Paul - Austin born and raised - moved away for school but got back as soon as I could! Would love to stay in touch and maybe meet up to do something fun in the new year if you're around! Love your stuff!!
Thanks you! That sounds great! Let's definitely make some plans soon!
*subbed* this is a great review
Thanks Louis!! I really appreciate the compliment!
Great video
Wondering when the sigma will be released
Hey man! The Sigma is available for preorder right now, and will start shipping 11/22! www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1369132-REG/sigma_402965_16mm_f_1_4_dc_dn.html
it got pushed back to Dec 2nd i think
None of the Sigma lens work as well as sony lenses with the APSC cameras when it comes to video and video AF is one of sony cameras strong points. I really wish this lens came with OSS
Search - the herrintons sony a6300 zhiyun crane review
You gonna thow it once you get the sigma f1.4 lol
Pretty sure you're right...
Adam Craig great point, didn’t think of that!
You can get this lens 1/6 price of sigma in my country
No phase AF on this lens that’s why the focusing is not the best
It’s atrocious
2:12 Are you still survive ? =))))
16mm f2.8 is not a good lens for stills at all
if you want a lightweight lens get the 16-50mm
the 16mm f1.4 sigma is mindblowingly good
Lucky Never totally agree with you - I actually sold this one and got the Zeiss 16-70...it’s an f4 but insane colors...just published a review of that one let me know what you think!
Not the LENS is so ugly, guy.... not the lens! Hahahahaha....
The big problem you will get from sigma its simply not 16mm its have a crop so its will be 24mm lens and that not that wide but things I didr know of its will be near of sigma 30mm or much wider
+muataz mohamed you’re totally right. All the focal lengths and apertures are subject to the 1.5x crop factor of this sensor, making the Sigma 30 an effective 45mm f2.1, the Sony 16 an effective 24mm f4.2, and the new Sigma 16 an effective 24mm f2.1. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t talk about crop factor!!
Chris Olfers whe. Does the sigma lens come out
you are just confusing people, you are just thinking in full frame mode.. thats why u say its not a 16, all lenses indicates the focal in a full frame way.... there is no reason to pay attention to the way it will look in an apsc camera (24....as you say)
D Art Producciones sorry if the answer was unclear - basically, the Sigma 16mm on an APS-c sensor has a focal length equivalent to a 24mm lens on a full-frame camera like a Sony A9. You’re right it’s a little confusing, but necessary so people aren’t surprised their 16mm lens doesn’t look as wide as they hoped!
both the lenses will act like a 24mm (full Frame equivalent) on aps-c cameras so this comment makes no sense, plus both lens are designed for aps-c anyway
in russia 16 /2.8 price 60 dollars
the 16mm 2.8 is SO soft. one of the worst quality sony lenses out there. basically a toy lens
Agreed but it’s cheap! Do you know if another wide lens (with AF) for Sony APS-C that’s under $400?
Chris Olfers the sigma 16mm 1.4 is 449$ and totally worth the extra
I bet it is! I can’t wait to get my hands on it - and grateful it’s less than $500 so it’s accessible for most - can’t help but wish for more choices in E-mount...even Panasonic/Lumix has Leica glass for their MFT cams!
Is it better than the sony kit lens?
Yeah... That is the the real question... @adhil thangal
According to Sigma it is a focusing problem at those apertures with AF-S www.dpreview.com/forums/post/60503930
I had no idea - thanks for posting this!!!
Sorry, it was different lens I thought it was the sigma 16mm f1.4 for sony APS-C e mount
LoL it's not an ugly lens.
all bs
Great video
