We got the Allen & Heath Avantis about a year ago, and it's always had some issues starting up. Sometimes it would take 10-15 tries to start up, which wasn't cool. We found out that a firmware update should fix this issue. This video is the process of updating to the latest firmware while keeping all the data, settings, and scenes stored within a "Show". This is crucial to getting the job done right and not having to start from scratch like we've had to do in the past.

I didn't have any problems after updating the firmware. Main difference is that I recalled the normal "show" after updating, not just the scene. The routing wasn't totally correct so that's what I had to do to make sure it was back to normal.
Yes, the routing seems to be the thing that can go wrong sometimes. I've learned to save everything to the show file and then save the show on an external just in case. Once I did it that way, I didn't have any issue with the routing.
We just did the firmware update on our avantis yesterday. Three years ago a few days before Christmas Eve I decided to do a firmware update and not save shows and spent two days rebuilding the system from the ground up.
We save our shows per season and back them up on USB. We often do a master scene for the month as well for our volunteers to load off of as we continuously try to improve and make updates.
The only issue I'm finding with this new update is that avantis director loses connection often. Trying some new Wi-Fi and router things as well as going direct to see if it helps the problem.
Yes, that sounds very familiar to what we had to do the first time we did the firmware update! Lol
What do you mean by "Avantis Director"?
Avantis Director is software you can run on Mac or PC that allows you to mix off the board. We end up using it for an A2 position to mix our broadcast off an aux channel so FOH and A2 aren't stepping on each other. It's a temp solution until we get our broadcast studio up and running.@@jonathanstephensmusic
You need to reboot all the equipment each time. For example, my church has a Avantis sound boar in the back and an Allen & Heath device up front.

Doing it RN it killed my first Avantis but it already had issues, I am really nervous. it appeared to work.
Yes it's definitely nerve wracking doing these firmware updates.
