  • In this video we are adding some beautiful yellow Geums to our perennial border. There used to be a hardy geranium in this position but we appear to have lost it over the winter so we needed something to replace it with, and what better than a pop of yellow from these tall hardy perennial plants.

      Thanks so much guys 😁We're the same with all your lovely plants, just think if we were neighbours we would be swapping plants over the fence all the time 💛🤩

    Beautiful yellow geums, They are the bees knees. I have two red Mrs Bradshaw planted in the flowerbed and one orange alpine geum Koi growing in a pot.

      We just love them as they just keep flowering and they are so easy to divide and make new plants. Mrs Bradshaw is a nice one too, we've had that in past. Thanks for watching Nicholas, hope you're having a great weekend 👍

    I didn't realize you could divide perennials in full flower!

    • @MadAboutGardening
      @MadAboutGardening  Před 3 měsíci

      You have to be extra careful but it can be done. These weren't divided though, just split up as there were 3 individual plants in the pot 👍

    I have a yellow Geum called Lady Stratheden. Geums are beautiful plants and like you, I have them in all the colours. For some reason, I don't seem to get them flowering for months on end like other people seem to do even though I deadhead religiously. Yours is lovely especially next to the Aquilegias and Allium and what a bargain. xxx

      Geum 'Lady Stratheden' is a lovely one too Wendy. I can't remember if we've had this one before but I like how there are so many different Geums with different colours. We like to feed them well with manure to get more flowers however the first flush is always the best. I couldn't believe my luck when I found these for the same price as the red ones we bought. They just had to come home with us. Take care Wendy xxx

    Greetings from Kentucky, I currently grow Geum Tempo Rose and Geum Petticoats Peach. At least for me where I garden, Geum plants don't do well. It might be that I am not keeping them watered enough in our hot summers. I have them side by side in full sun in front of some Siberian iris. They get a little shade from these plants. The Petticoats Peach will flower once in the Spring (but not much) and no more despite deadheading. The Tempo Rose is two years old and has not flowered yet. The foliage is pretty, but they just don't flower that much for me. Yours are beautiful. Have a great weekend, James

      Thanks so much James, we have the rain that they love here in the UK. If you can get hold of farmyard manure, try mulching around the plants with it as that will feed them and help keep the moisture in. You have some nice varieties in your garden. Thanks again James 😊👍

      @@MadAboutGardening I will give that a try. I might consider this autumn moving them from full sun to part sun. Our summers get 95-100 degrees everyday with little rains until autumn.

      @@CA-rx9ze Yes, it's already getting into the 85-90 degrees range in my area and no rain in the forecast for the next ten days. I'm going to move them to part shade this autumn.

    I have the orange, red and the peachy Mai Tai, but not the yellow one. It's lovely. My only problem with geums is how fast they grow! I'm constantly dividing them, to my friends' delight lol

      Mai Tai is on our list for next time we see it for sale. It's a very popular one and I can see why with the lovely colour of the flowers. You're friends must be very happy with you 🙂

      That's one of the main attractions for us, and the flowers of course 😁. Plants that slugs don't eat are very welcome. G. All these cuttings will need to go somewhere too, keep or give away😆Weather getting cooler after tomorrow up here 😒Wales sounds good and I see you have another video out too, will watch soon. @martianleaderrichy1520 Yes, save some space for something special from Elizabeth's nursery and for your Eryngiums. I love propagating so much I always grow more plants than I can manage but it's just so enjoyable. My dream to have our own nursery one day so I can propagate to my hearts content! Thanks for watching the visit to Abbeywood Gardens 👍 Wales was lovely as the weather was nice on Saturday, we fell asleep in chairs on the beach ⛱️ . Have a good week too 😄👍
