That is fantastic to see so many CT70's, and that are all actual riders! My brother and I chipped in our grass cutting money in 1971 and bought a brand new Kawasaki 75cc MT-1. Our friends all had Trail 70's. I have to admit that the CT70 was faster, and definitely more reliable. We sure enjoyed the MT-1, but I think we would have enjoyed the CT70 more. Thanks for keeping history alive!

I wanted my folks to get me one for Xmas in 1969, my folks were well off and they could afford it, when I got up Xmas morning there was no Honda 70 under the tree. My dad told me that I was almost 14 years old and if I wanted something like that, it was time to start working for it. He said he would pay me $1.25 an hour and I could work 2 or 3 hours a day after school at his printing plant as long as my grades didn't go down and I could work all day on Saturdays on our farm. By the end of July 1970, I had saved up almost $400 which was just enough to cover a brand new CT70 and a Bell helmet down at the Western Auto Store.
We had a 342-acre farm and I had a blast riding all over it, and the country roads around it.

My mother bought a 73 with the blue paint and the automatic clutch 3 speed in the early 90's from a guy down in Florida. We had a ball with it, should've seen it before my father got to it. He beat the hell out of that thing and it just wouldn't die. We still have it and my mother won't let me restore it. Saying it's her "special project". She'll never get to it. Darn fine bike, though. And they hold their value pretty well. I have no complaints. I would use one as my daily driver if it wasn't for the snow up here in NY.

I got a -72 new for my 12th birthday and rode all over the county roads and the farm too. I put 9,000 miles on it as a kid and never changed the oil. Just added when it was low. Pound for pound they were the toughest bikes ever produced.

TB Player man that sounds cool. I was looking for an early z50 when I came across a really nice 74 CT 70 so I bought it and put it in my 92 Civic SI hatchback, handlebars down and sitting on the front and back seat and drove 120 kms home smelling gas the whole way,but it was worth it. Greetings from British Columbia

I really enjoyed this video. when I was a little kid my parents bought me a blue CT 70. its been so long that I didn't remember that it was four down. I remember that I wanted the one with the clutch. but my parents thought it would be hard for me to learn how to use it. so they got me the one without the clutch. and then a few months later my friend down the street got the lime green one and it had a clutch. and I tried his bike and within a few minutes I was using the clutch no problem. and I was pissed at my parents that I didn't have the one with the clutch. but I never told them that. and then a couple years later they were getting me a new bike. I had to clean the dinner table and do the dishes for six months to get it. and I wanted the Honda 100. but when they went to the dealer they didn't have one in stock. and they said it would be around three weeks to get it in stock. and then my parents said to me. if you want a bike today you can get the SL 70. and when you are a little kid three weeks seemed like an eternity. so I got the SL 70. but as soon as I went down the street on it I was disappointed because the engine felt identical except for it having a clutch. and I wanted more power, and my entire life I've beat myself up for not waiting the three weeks to get the 100. your video brought back allot of memories. I used to ride that CT 70 on the trails everyday. I loved that time in my life.

I got a brand-new Blue/Green 4 speed in 1970. We had over 5 kids around town with them and would ride to the Hodaka shop over 40 miles from home on Saturdays. I just found the same year and colour on marketplace and picked it up, it had been sitting in a barn for 20 years. My grandson and I rebuilt the carburetor, and it started first kick. Sold my original CT to buy a Hodaka.

Coolest , most reliable bikes ever!!. I had an XR 75 back in the day and a QA 50 before that. Beat the tar out of both just changed the oil and cleaned filter every now and again and they would always , ALWAYS run great. Nobody can touch the reliability of Japanese made motorcycles. GREAT ERA!!!

Ha ha ha! This brings back such great memories! I had a manual red Trail 70. I didn’t know much about carburetors back then so mine ran like crap and hardly ever started. I got frustrated with it and gave it away. I wish I had it today. I’d have it running like a top. Thanks for posting!!

Best video on CZcams. Who didn’t own a trail 70? Mine was blue. I was able to turn the ignition with the proper twig. Haha. I have no doubt that all you riders here had an ear to ear grin under those helmets. That’s how fun and historical these safe, death bikes were.

Kewl. Used to have an 82 or 83 can't remember. I had a few z50 around that time to so it's hard to remember. Mine was auto clutch and I thought 4 up. Could be wrong though. It seems like some of the 50's were up and some down as well. I know the 70 wasn't much faster than the 50 but it was street legal and that made it much cooler.
