I know this is an old video but I love how honest you were about what happened. I had the same thing happen to me when I was 18 and fresh out of high school. I gained some weight but you couldn’t see it in my pictures on MySpace. I had been talking to a local guy on the phone for months and we talked as friends but flirted (same as your situation). One day he decided to meet me for the first time so he picked me up at my house and we drove to some stores to walk around. It was the same exact awkwardness you experienced. Just the vibe he gave me. Hardly talked, didn’t look into my eyes, and he “had to go home early to take his meds.” We were suppose to go out to eat and we didn’t even do that. After he dropped me off at my house I was pretty sad and hurt and my sister in law and I went to Walmart to buy some things and I saw him there with his buddies. I wanted to cry. I got down to 220 last year and have always fluctuated due to a thyroid condition and life’s impact 🤷🏼♀️ Even when I was 160 (before the thyroid glacial effect on my life) I was overweight in my head due to being super tall and people close to me telling me I was getting fat at 150. Ya know Lamont, I can totally relate to what you went through. A few years back, I decided to try my hand at online dating. I'd talked to a couple of guys both online as well as on the phone. With one of the guys, we decided to meet up for a drink to see if anything could possibly happen for us. Well, needless to say, I just went back to my car & left. It kinda tore me up inside the whole drive home. I didn’t purposely "catfish" him but, I'm sure that's what he was thinking. If you get tricked by a girl who appears way different than her photo, you should call her on it. That’s BS and shouldn’t be tolerated. She’s amazing, she’s pretty...smart. I’m about week out from buying a plane ticket and she says she’s can tell I am into fitness and her size might put me off...RED FLAGS. That relationship ended immediately too, my terms this time. Attraction is a goofy thing. It sucks when we lose, which is 66% of all interactions (assuming you like her, she likes you accounts for 1/3 of outcomes). The thing is, full disclosure is best. Saves us all from awkward moments. Couple of random thoughts. First, if you sense this vibe in the future and you really sense she’s uncomfortable, wait a few mins and after some small talk, just smile at her and calmly say “hey, you seem nervous and I don’t want to make you nervous. If you aren’t feeling this, I get it, it happens. Imma step up to the bar to say high to a buddy of mine who is up there and I’ll be back in a few mins. Sometimes nerves just get ahold of us and you make just need a few minutes to center yourself… also, LOL If you want to bail on me (lol) now is the time” and then just laugh it off and get up and walk away. Give her 2-3 mins, but don’t watch her. Go away and just make small talk with a stranger. When you get back if she’s gone, she left on her own terms and you can just finish your drink at the bar, close out the tab and you’re good. If she is still there and seems calmer when you get back, just roll with it. Also, i agree with what you said if you are gonna do online dating, make sure you post a current full body image of yourself so it’s all out there. If you get tricked by a girl who appears way different than her photo, you should call her on it. That’s BS and shouldn’t be tolerated. You don’t have to be mean, but if the girl is 80+ pounds more than the photo implies, or have different hair or whatever, just call it out - “wow you look really different than your photos. I would have never recognized you (smile, laugh),” and then see how she reacts. If she denies it or acts rude to you for pointing it out, just thank her and walk away. No sense going any further.
