  • Seacroft site has its own outdoor swimming pool, a licenced restaurant offering Sunday lunches and a pool table. Less than 20 minutes walk from the traditional seaside town of Cromer and just over three miles from the traditional seaside town of Sheringham. Join us as we explore it all !

We have been regular visitors to Seacroft site in our MH's for 15 years. We paid our subscriptions throughout lockdown to support C & MH club. After a 4 and half hour journey from York arrived at Seacroft for a weeks holiday this June. Unable to book the whole week on block we booked 2 days on a awning pitch and 5 on a serviced. The unwelcoming lady warden announced that we would need to leave the site after 2 days and re enter with new check ins for our serviced pitch which had increased to £60/night for 2023. We accepted the new pitch prices plus non returnable deposits but expected the same high standards that we have enjoyed for years but not to be! The grass on our pitch had not been cut the whole site seemed to embrace the new "wild flower meadow look" ie unkempt with uncut/unstrimmed grass. The new push button access to the toilets did not illuminate and was awkward to operate (I assisted an elderley man who had been trying to access the toilets for 5 minutes). The warden announced that the swimming pool times had been reduced to just weekends in summer due to cost of lifeguards. On the whole with the increase in costs we were very disappointed with the decrease in standards so will not be returning plus we have cancelled our C & MH membership.

Hello Jerry, We are so sorry to hear about your recent experience at Seacroft after spending so may happy holidays there over the years. How disappointing for you. You must have been checked in with the same wardens as us and we think it was absolutely ridiculous you having to leave site just to change pitch. As for the grass cutting we rather think the mower blades needed sharpening after watching the results around our caravan. We support biodiversity when in the right locality but when it’s spread over the whole site agree it can look untidy and neglected. The swimming pool was open one day mid week when a lifeguard was available, probably due to the warm weather. We use our own facilities so can’t comment on the fiddly facility block access door. We recently stayed at Bridge House Marina Caravan Park and they had easy fob activated door locks there. We show this on our Bridge House Marina video. There are lots of very good independent sites out there and we wish you well. Our very best regards, Rob & Gail 😀

@@robswiseways5697 It is a sign of the times I'm afraid Rob. I am sure that pitch fee's for serviced sites are at parity with Travel Lodge charges. If the sites were immaculate (as they were before lockdown) it would not be too bad but alas they are not 🥺

Good video Rob and Gail, we have been to Seacroft and really enjoyed it, however, I think we are late to the lunch table, when you come out of the site, turn left to East Runton and when you get there, there is a Fish and Chip shop on the right hand side next to a pub, this has the best fish and chips I have ever eaten and you can sit at the outside tables belonging to the pub as long as you buy a drink from there. Well done Rob and Gail,
We live in Norwich and regularly visit Cromer, Sheringham and all the little villages around that area so we found it very entertaining seeing your take on it. How much nicer it looks with the sunshine for you. We love both Cromer and Sheringham and never tire of going to these places for a visit. Your vlogs are always very informative and we seem to be getting more of your humour which is great. Gail’s camera work was exceptional as usual, not everybody can do as as well as Gail but it makes for good vlogging, well done Gail. Parts of the coastal path are awful, I thought Gail was right to complain about them. One last thing before I run into chapter 2. The local taxi service in Cromer is called Cromer Cabs, makes me smile when I see them about town.

Hello Gail, Got to say we’ve never been spoken to so sharply before and it was rather deflating. We quickly put it behind us and enjoyed our holiday 😀 . The vacuum was from garagevac.co.uk who import from the USA intervacdesign.com This website shows vacs for home, garage, RV & boat. Not cheap though. I bought the extra 9m orange hose and cut it to suit the caravan. The turbo brush is a Miele as the one I ordered extra with the vac wasn’t that good. At least the club offer pitch price starting from one person, you don’t see that very often on private sites. Sounds like you had the same eagle eyed wardens as us too!!

As a site warden for the "other" club, we have the same issues with people arriving too early, on the site where i work we generally tolerate people arriving 5 or 10 minutes early, but we do get some that turn up half an hour or more too early. This creates massive issues for us as the caravans end up queuing out our driveway and blocking the village road. Those people will be asked to leave site and come back at 1pm. It's regrettable that we have to do that but theres no need to be rude and abrupt, it can be frustrating when booking confirmations state arrival times clearly. In my experience some wardens have no business working in a customer focused industry, and would be more suitably attired in jackboots😂.

Hello and thank you for your comment. As a site warden it’s interesting to hear your views and the problems you face with very early arrivals (hands up, been there, done it). We fully appreciate site rules and we do try to plan our journey to arrive as close to 1pm as possible. We did however prefer the previous 12 noon check in 😀. Anyway our dismal check in hasn’t put us off booking more club sites and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Seacroft. Thankfully in 10 years of caravanning it was a one off and it would be nice to think it was a one off for the wardens too, we all have off days 😁. Our kindest regards, Rob & Gail

    • @DomingoDeSantaClara
      @DomingoDeSantaClara Před 11 měsíci

@@robswiseways5697 the problem with the earlier check in time is that you are likely to pass others that are vacating the site, I'm sure you know how narrow some access roads can be, then there's the problem of staff needing lunch breaks as well. We always say to people, rather than arriving early, pull into a layby, have a brew or a stretch, then you'll be welcomed with open arms, everyone's happy. I feel really bad having to ask people to leave site, especially those towing caravans, but if we don't then the locals get angry at us for blocking the road, it just makes for a more relaxed feeling all round if people stick to the guidelines, they are there for a reason. We do feel hard done by at times when customers get angry with us, because they chose to ignore what was asked of them, but I do believe the message is slowly getting through to members as it is now consistent across all our sites.

Unfortunately the C&MC seems to be more interested in profit rather than its members and is getting very expensive, we now look at more independent sites before even looking at C&MC web site, must admit it's an ideal site for exploring the area though we stayed there a few years ago, we've also had a couple of little Hitler wardens before, one came and told me I had to wind my canopy in on the MH as I was on a non awning pitch It was only part out to give us a bit of shade, told him it's a canopy not an awning his answer was you should have booked an awning pitch if you want to have it out, so my answer was OK from now on I will always book an awning pitch even though we don't have an awning, he just turned walked away,

It says quite clearly not to turn up until after 1pm. Stayed there a couple of years ago and had a great time with no issues. We never arrive at a CAMC site before their stipulated time. It just causes unnecessary blockages as motorhomes and caravans take up a lot of room. I've seen too many times people on social media berating the wardens when it's the 'vanners who have not followed the simple rules. Follow the rules and you won't get wound up, or it certainly works for me at least.

We’ve noticed pitch prices have gone up but as you say it’s the current situation we are all facing at present. Expensive pitch but lots of lasting happy memories made 😀 so can’t really complain there.
We heat the water using both electric and gas on high and at this time of year the incoming water isn’t as cold so it heats up quicker as its drawn into the hot tank. In addition to this, some people prefer a cooler shower in hot weather hence, not drawing as much hot water as you would in cold weather. So both these reasons coupled together equals a longer shower. Hope this helps. I can’t make it last longer in winter though 🥶. Best regards, Rob & Gail

Not as handy for Cromer, but sandygulls is a better site. Sea view from every pitch. No service pitches.

We’ve looked at Sandy Gulls and it does look appealing, but you know us and our preference for FSP 😀. Thanks very much for watching and commenting 👍 All the very best, Rob & Gail

£48 per night, your having a laugh, the caravan and motor home clubs a joke!

Hello James Hope you’re well. Yes it was a bit steep. We had continental weather but cheaper than a holiday abroad I suppose. Best regards, Rob & Gail 😀👍

£60 for a serviced site! Lots of empty pitches so obvious exodus of members

Not a good experience. Unfriendly. Scotland is far better.

Shame about the booking in but we did have a marvelous time. Would like to visit Scotland with the caravan and will do one day. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
