This is the first time we've used a CMC site and we're in the Caravan and Motorhome Club official site in Brighton.
We give you a tour of the site but is the weekend a complete washout?

We used to be in the CMC we sacked them off too expensive and too regimented. And they are mostly in the middle of nowhere. Not ideal for motorhomers
Yeah we get that, but they are useful for waste etc we didn't notice any rules in particular but we were sort of cooped up as Gary was ill and the weather was terrible... we're not huge campsite fans really but sometimes they come in handy ❤️

You tickled me pink. Just found your channel. I was very interested watching as I come from Brighton and lived not too far from that site. I used to walk my dogs in East Brighton park. Some insider information for you and your viewers. Brighton marina has an ASDA superstore on it as well as a cinema, restaurants and a pub. If you cut through the side of the park through one of the streets you can catch the number 1 and 1a into Brighton city centre. It cost £2 per journey. You can get an all day saver. Get off the bus at Churchill Square. You are then central enough in town to walk back through the lanes, or check out the shops. Going back you can get the same number bus towards Whitehawk. Get off at the bus station. Short walk back to the campsite. There is a Lidl just down the road from the bus station. A visit to Rottingdean is a must. It's a 10 minute coastal drive from the site. You can take the bus from the coastal road above the Marina. 12,12a, 27 any of the buses. If you fancy a trip to Eastbourne for the day take the bus, it's £2 and takes about 45 mins. The 12 and 12a and 12x run every 10 mins. One of the buses runs through Burling gap. It's a beautiful ride. Sit upstairs, the views are amazing. On the way home take the 12x, express. Gets you back in half the time. If you fancy a walk half way get off the bus at Burling Gap and walk over the cliff walk into Eastbourne. Amazing coastal path and views over Beachy head. Takes about 90 mins to 2 hours into Eastbourne. I hope that helps a little. Enjoy your time.

Awww, poor Gary! We know what it is like to feel unwelll on the road! These types of places were not our favourites. We called them RV Prison Camps. At least this one had a lot of good points going for it! Sending healing vibes and big love your way from both of us!

We used to be a member of the caravan and motorhome club until we cancelled it, stayed at their York beechwood park, a good 10 minutes drive to a park and ride car park to get into York, we unfortunately won’t be going to any more of those sites, nothing on site apart from a small shop, only had electric hook up sad to say
We understand that Graeme, you want to be in walking distance to facilities really or right near a park and ride, we do wonder if they are any good in Europe so we might try out a site there. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🤗
I stopped using CMC sites ages ago. It's a rip off and sites are way to expensive.

We used them for the CLs but they have increased so much as well. It's just ridiculous. Wait until you come to Europe. You'll be amazed at the comparison.
Yeah we can't wait 🤩 we think they're useful for topping up the van and doing waste while in the UK, but there's nothing like the freedom of being in the middle of nowhere with a great view in the van ❤️
C&MC is getting silly expensive. The club sites are nice, clean, good facilities but way over priced. A few night on-site could cover the cost of annual membership.
It does seem expensive given that you already pay an annual membership, I think we will only use them when we need services, it wouldn't be affordable to use regularly at some of the prices people are being quoted. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🤗

We have joined CMC as new to this but not used as yet. Like you, I would prefer a bit of privacy. Brighton is just up the road to us though. Thanks for sharing 😊
I think everyone joins in the beginning and a lot of the clubs are really useful for people, especially if you need hook up and dump stations, but we love privacy...not that we have anything to hide 🤣 it just feels more free when you can't be looked on ❤️
I have been a member of the club for many years but I now find that they are getting to expensive compared to a lot of private sites with more amenities. I agree with you as do a lot of other members I speak to on site, why should we as members pay a higher price at certain times of the year, as we don't get anything extra. Many have said they are going to leave. I have brought this up with the club but they are not interested. I have toured in Europe in my motorhome, what a difference.
We are heading to Europe next week and can't wait, we spent last year in the States and there are a lot of expensive camp sites, which we never used, but many other options, I think once you've paid a membership you should feel as though you're getting your money's worth... otherwise the independent sites will definitely be the preferred option. We stopped going as there were thefts of electric bikes by local crims. There were homeless camping in nearby trees and using the toilets. The access road is a good half mile long and in darkness of an evening so walking back from town is a bit of a worry.

We were down at Brighton last week. Stayed at Southdown Way Caravan and Camping Park. Only small gravel area for vans in winter. Showers and loos clean but need updating. Best thing though is the village of Hassocks is on the London to Brighton rail line so day trips out are easy. Also walks on South Downs Way lovely 😀
I love Brighton so it's a real shame Gary was too ill to do much...also the weather was terrible 😂 we might check that park out if we get that way again 💕
This is really interesting. I’ve seen a good few videos about sites and nobody else has talked about the lack of privacy which is pretty well my number one criteria especially in a little microcamper. I wish that was a filter on searches! People don’t seem to mind living so publicly. I’ve just joined the other club to try CSs which might work for me. Look forward to seeing more of your travels. It’s a shame Gary was so unwell, we love the Brighton Site, nice and quiet to stay on, but you really need to get the bus or a cab into town, it’s a great place for a wander round, good food and drink everywhere, and if you think £36 for a night is dear, check out the price of hotels and parking in town, eye watering! You really need to give it another go, trust me a great place.

Interestingly, the first caravan and motorhome club site we had taken our Caravan to seemed to be quite crowded and we weren’t too keen. Like you, however, the site grew on us for all the positives and we’d go back. I think they do know what they’re doing in their set up because it works.

Stayed over the last weekend at the Brighton CAMC site. £60.20 for two nights on a blue peg pitch 108. Decent enough. Easy enough walk down to the Marina and along the seafront. It was the Brighton half marathon on Sunday so quite a bit of traffic getting around and away to the Amex and the A27.
That's not a bad price for the location and I can imagine if the weather is good it's a lovely walk down to the marina. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🤗

Great video as always, we haven’t been to that particular CAMC site but have done a couple ourselves with Moreton-In-Marsh being the most recent. We have similar feelings to you about the pricing structure and feel it is unfair to charge a premium at certain times of the year. However, the Brighton site you stayed at was far cheaper than the one I just mentioned, which was over £40 per night! to make matters worse, that included the membership discount!
Anyway, thanks for doing the review and as for Morton-in-Marsh, our video comes out tomorrow.

But...having said that going into Brighton is amazing, there is so much to do, see and enjoy, but I totally understand that's difficult for people who dont fancy spending the money for taxi's and all that faff. I just double checked. £124.00 because we aren't yet members. 2 adults 2 children. 2 nights Fri & Saturday. Not half term week. Even with members discount seems a lot. What do other folk think? Am I out of touch? 😐 Great review. 👍

Members of both clubs they are really expensive, mainly use for the cl sites to be fair

Wow 36 quid I think that place is only worth $25 a night. We try not to think of EVs in Texas😂. Very nice restrooms. I wonder what Gary perfers the cassette style toilets or the black tanks. We don't have many cassette style toilets in our RVs here. Thank you for sharing.
😂😂 I don't think EVs are very popular here either 😂 we don't have a choice on the black tanks, all the European motorhomes are made with a cassette 🤷 we love how the American ones hold so much... literally 3 days in and we're looking to empty!! I'm not renewing my C&MC membership this year. I've been to some excellent independent sites that I would much rather return to. Better facilities, better value.

As much as I enjoy caravanning and motorhomes, UK sites have become very expensive in recent years.
You know what...I might try that
They really are expensive, it would be great if local councils used car parks more, by charging a nominal fee they would boost the high street, so many towns are struggling to stay open so it would help.
CAMC too expensive for my liking to be honest x
It's expensive for sure, we need some Aires in the UK, good for motorhomers and revive the high streets 🥰
