  • I've had these bikes for a few months now and they are both awesome! I do feel the Lectric is a better value over the Polarna. The rear suspension on the Polarna looks awesome, but in reality, doesn't function all that well. But let's face it, I bought the Polarna because it looked bad ass, and I got exactly what I wanted. For those looking for the best value, you can't beat the Lectric. Lectric did a great job putting out a safe and functional eBike, while cutting out a lot of the gimmicks. But if you want the baddest "looking" eBike out there with a larger battery, full suspension and a great looking screen (without polarized shades), then the Polarna is for you. While none of those features make a huge difference, they sure do sound cool. Just be careful where you ride...the ladies will be chasing you down asking just exactly how big your battery is ; ) 14ah in my case!

    Your bias toward the Lectric aside, I prefer the dual suspension, bigger battery and 750W motor on the Polarna. I notice the XP 3.0 comes with seat post suspension now! Perhaps your butt is tougher than most folks... Seems the Polarna wins the votes here by a long shot!

      Overall, I do believe the Polarna is a better bike. Having both, the main question for us was if the price jump for the Polarna was worth it, or could the Lectric get the job done for quite a bit less cost. At the time, the Polarna cost was 50% more than the Lectric ($1499 vs $999). It seems the prices are much more competitive these days which certainly makes the Polarna vs Lectric comparison a bit more competitive. You definitely can't go wrong with either.

      @@miguelroaming I agree and ended up spending $849 for a G-Force T42 which is basically the $999 Lectric step-over frame, with 750W vs 500W motor, hydraulic vs mechanical disc brakes, 22 amp vs 18 amp controller, bigger battery, better forks. I got a Cloud 9 seat to make up for no rear suspension... The Polarna M4 is better but like you say, $450 more...

    have both of these bikes. the polarna is specked better.controller is a sinewave-starts slower. its a 28mph when unlocked bike.battery cuts out on mine at 46 volts. rides good. put a 20 volt extra battery on it. that helps the range. the xp-2.0 is a good bike as well,not as fully featured. but no slouch. accelerates fast and goes 28 mph in assist 5. battery life short. tires not so big. like the 20 inch on the polarna better. both a lot of fun. ariel rider kepler may be the next.

    Lectric XP 2 and Polarna M4 have a really big difference in that Lectric XP 2 is a 500W motor and Polarna has a 750W motor. The Lectric XPremium models are probably closer in price point with the addition of hydraulic brakes, but even those are sticking with only a 500W motor. Lectric does offer some solid value for the under $1200 price bracket but with the Polarna now at less than $1300, it's hard to justify buying a Lectric XPremium with the M4 coming with double suspensions, hydraulic brakes, powered brake lights, with a 750W motor...all being only 2lbs heavier than Lectric XP2.0

      Lectric won't screw you like Polarna. $1469 M5 has been broken since 1 month after purchase. My personal lesson with Polarna. They are threatening legal attack for my sharing of fact. !!! BUYER BEWARE !!!

    You see nice but there is no way I would pick a Lectric of a Polarna. The Polarna is a much nicer bike and a much larger battery. You get what you pay for I like Lectric but the Polarna is pricer and you can see the quality.

    Even with the brittle rear fender, I'm still liking the Polarna more. Hooefully Polarna sees your review and corrects the weakness. Did you try comparing a hill climb? If they are both hub motors, the 750w should perform better.

    I'm getting the Polarna M4 it comes with Hydraulic Brakes the Lectric comes with XP 2.0 comes with 160mm mechanical disc brakes the Polarna M4 is a 48V 12.8AH the XP 2.0 is a 48V 9.6AH and the Polarna comes with Rear Suspension and cruise control the XP don't have Rear Suspension are cruise control

    You know that's funny I have watched a lot of these e-bike reviews and everybody that had a 500-watt motor and a 750 they all say the same thing that the 750 watt motor has a lot more power than the 500 watt so why are you not seeing this like everyone else

    Unless you've actually bought a Polarna. I own a Polarna M5 that stopped working one month after purchase. 6 months later I have given up on getting it repaired through Polarna. I'm done jumping through hoops to try to get this fixed. The battery is faulty, and they refuse to recognize that. Now they threaten me with legal action because I'm telling my story. This was my $1469 lesson to NOT BUY FROM CHINA. I have ordered 2 Lectrics since this ordeal. !!! BUYER BEWARE !!!

    How would you compare the reliability and maintenance of the respective ebikes? Any issues other than the rear fender?

      They are both great bikes, and very reliable so far. I did have an issue with the clamp on the handlebars for the Polarna. Customer service sent the wrong part initially, but quickly sent the correct part shortly after.

    In my experience with the Polarma M6 and the Lectric XP 2.0 step through the Polarna wind hands down. I received the Polarma within a week of ordering and was on the road in an hour. The Lectric for my wife is currently a complete debacle. It shipped with the totally wrong battery and when I called I even detected a hint of sarcasm when I made the claim. I had to prove via pictures that the battery didn't fit and instead of expediting a new one as I requested they shipped the replacement battery ground 3 days later so another week of waiting. So my wife is super pissed since I'm riding and she's not. In addition the Lectric accessory pack with the seat, post and racks did not ship with the bike and have not shipped yet well after I placed the order. So while the Lectric has many followers, my experience has been piss poor and I do not believe they QC their bikes at all and just drop ship them from China or from a warehouse. So if you're going that route just skip the false claims about USA this and that and get the Polarma or a similar GDSE Ebike.

    • @miguelroaming
      @miguelroaming  Před 2 lety

      Great input! I think the main draw to Lectric is that they can produce a great price at a very low cost. In your case, it sounds like low cost came at the expense of quality control unfortunately. My experiences with both Lectric and Polarna were great, but I imagine all eBike companies are going to continue to struggle with increased demand and shipping delays for a while. I'm curious if they asked you to sent the non-fitting battery back to them? Those batteries aren't cheap which is probably why they wanted proof you received the incorrect battery.

    Can you elaborate why the rear suspension on the M4 does not function all that well? meaning it's not absorbing the road bumps as expected?

      my m4 rear suspension works well. backed out the bolts in the mechanism and put silicone grease on them. loosens it up.and time on the seat loosens too.

    Man this is crazy,
    I seen your video Sunday night cause I was looking for how to hack my polarna m4 and make it go faster and at minute 1:50 you start talking about the rear fender breaking off and explaining what will happen if it does.
    And guess what… the very next day, Monday afternoon I’m leaving work and 15 minutes into my commute I rode over and uneven sidewalk and the back wheel hit hard and SNAP! the rear fender breaks off, it slides under the wheel (just like you said), I lose control and eat it. The funny thing is after I seen your video I went and checked the L bracket on my bike and it looked fine to me, not flimsy at all.
    Moral of the story is… spend the $1.50 to get a better L bracket from your local hardware store cause now I’m out for 2 weeks from work with no pay and with a knee MCL and meniscus injury. The good thing is that I was riding on the sidewalk and not in the bike lane or else I would’ve been going 30mph and things could’ve been worse.

    Many times a company will tell you it's 750 W but that will be Peak power whereas what you truly have R2 500w e-bikes

    Is Polarna too tall for a woman to ride it? I'm 5"1' and I'm interested in Polarna M6, but I'm affraid that it woud be too high for me.

    • @miguelroaming
      @miguelroaming  Před 2 lety +1

      My wife is 5'4" and she's much more comfortable with the Lectric. The Polarna does have a larger minimum seat height and handlebar height. It's also a bit heavier and more cumbersome. You'll be fine with either, but the Lectric Step-thru should be much more comfortable for you.

    What people don't seem to realize about Ebike power ratings is that they are largely political. The rating is two fold. It is first the amount of wattage that the motor can stay at for a long period of time and second it is the rating that the manufacturer wants the government to see depending on what state you live in. The math is simple: V*A=W. Volts * Amps=Watts. ALL 48v bikes charge to 54.6V. The "nominal" rating is 48v and it's usually where people start to notice the bike getting slower and start heading back for a re charge. The XP has a factory setting of 13a (you can go in the settings and turn it up to 20). The Polarna I believe comes set at 22 amps. So if you do quick math on that you have: 54.6v*13a= 709w for the XP. If you turn it up to 20a then you get 1092w. For the Polarna it's 54.6v*22a=1201w. Whenever you start off from a dead stop, especially with the throttle, you are usually hitting the battery pretty hard. If you throttle alot or like to "Ghost pedal" you're pretty much just relying on battery power. In all of those scenarios especially if you tow or ride on trails, you are almost always using more than 500w.

    Don't Buy Polarna! I just purchased two M4's (Black and Gray) and they arrived different than advertised. Spoke wheels instead of mag wheel and a really cheap display/control. The bike I got isn't even on their website. The upgraded display you can buy on their site will not even work on this bike. They won't replace claiming it's still a good bike. Such a joke! The service department is in China and difficult to work with. So disappointed!
