- Welcome back to the Last Alliance mod for Total War Shogun 2 has just received one of its biggest updates yet adding in new factions, new campaign map areas, and even the start of the siege map redesign.
This lord of the rings mod set in the second age is one you really have to play after all the most recent updates!

About Luuriag roster, yeah, cuz they are steppe faction so we thought it can be interesting to try make their whole army mounted. However they would still need infantry e.g. for sieges, so we prepared for them some hybrid cavalry-infantry units. There're some problems with such solution and perhaps in next updates we will dismount these units, but we will see ^^'
PS. Oh, ups, our illusion of Dwarven height in the mod has been exposed >.

The Shogun 2 engine is just beautiful. The way units move about is so smooth and responsive compared to other TW titles😎

I played Third Age total war on Medieval 2, is it worth to buy Shogun 2 to play The last alliance mod, units work better in it than older game?
@@Andrew_Li_O Shogun 2 itself is worth buying, and every mod makes it even better, let alone an amazing lotr mod, so yes, it's worth it, just wait until the sale and you can get it for 5 dollars.
It's really hard to not see shogun in every one of these assets, animations and general mood of this. Not sure this was the right game to try and do a total conversion of.
In every mod, even total overhaul mods, is mood of vanilla game in some ways. Cuz, it's mod, not new game ^^
@@SaraTemer Ehh you could argue that for example Third Age Total War based on Medieval 2 made alot more sense and feels like it's own thing.
@@athropos Yeah, especially these Mordor castles which are just vanilla castles with changed textures of walls to black ^^
Edit. I don't blame Third Age creators here, I saw Medieval II battle map editor and I imagine that making custom siege maps is nightmare in this game. Just it's quite funny to read such comments about Medieval II and Shogun 2.
@@SaraTemer What about thrones of Britannia or Total war saga troy? Always thought they were good templates for a lotr mod. Especially troy with its mythos dlc.
@@NordicJarl27 Thrones of Britannia is very nice Total War. Modding wise, compared to Shogun 2, some things are more easy to do on Shogun 2 and some things perhaps are more easy to do on ToB (in case of ToB may be also unexpected problems about which I don't know, cuz I didn't work on overhaul mod for ToB). The biggest issue with ToB is lack of tools to edit campaign map (there's fanmade tool in development, but isn't released yet and dunno when will be).
Troy is just horrible Total War and fixing problems of base game probably would take much more time than preparing new content.
I would IF MY SHOGUN WASN'T BROKEN...me and my friend tried playing a co-op campaign, but MY shogun wouldn't let me join or make a multi-player campain...a d that upsets me so much Shogun 2 is my favorite gane and the second age is my favorite age
May the computer gods lift this bane on your Shogun 2 copy. No person should suffer this fate 😢
If you've ever installed mods before, you have to go into your files and delete the mod data (It stays even if you uninstall the mod and doesnt let you join any vanilla games)

I love this mod its amazing. But i do wish they chose the third age instead so we can have isengard and gondor in this engine. The combat and everything is perfect. Just wish we got to see some other fan favorites that are sadly from the third age.
