Ik its freakin wild dude. They really just hoped to make more iron man movies but it evolved into something great.
I love how Jon Favreau is a complete comic book nerd and is so passionate about bringing the comics to the big screen and staying true to the source material... it's what makes the film seem so great, you can tell how much care was put into making it.
That's why the DCEU failed. They don't want to release the Snyder cut and make money off it. The DC universe flopped before it could even take off.

Whoever did the props and special effects for the suit, like the exoskeleton and suit-ups and all that were actually pretty fking smart and clearly worked really hard on it. I've been studying robotics and exoskeletons and there's a lot of accuracy to it for a pretty much sci fi movie. Like how they put in the gas springs and how everything connects, and how he has the suit put on him it's almost like how a car is assembled or something by all those robotic arms...just crazy. This movie was so much more than what many thought it would be. Even while working on it I bet a lot of the people were thinking "yeah this is gonna flop" because I know a ton of the script was just improvised like they didn't even have a proper script or anything. RDJ wasn't really that big of a deal at the time and had a pretty sketchy past... I just feel like the way it all turned out was very improbable but man this might be my favorite movie of all time, well this or the first Matrix movie. They are both up there in top 3 for sure.

They basically layered his chest with latex then paint it his skin color. Then put an indent in the middle of it so that the arc reactor fits. Pretty cool actually

My favourite part of seeing behind the scenes stuff is seeing scenes acted out slightly differently than the final product. Makes me feel like a huge nerd to spot subtle changes.

I guess this one was highly improvised too. I remember reading somewhere that they only had like a half-written script and most of the best lines were just the actors (mostly rdj prolly) randomly coming up with clever things to say lol.
Watching this, it becomes crystal clear why the MCU succeeded and the DCU has essentially failed....

@@yani2499 watchmen is in a league of its own, it's pretty amazing. Man of Steel was alright, for the most part. But Zack Snyder has a habit of too much style over substance which really cripples his movies sometimes.

Would be a cool inside joke, maybe it was on the back of Favreau's mind for Civil War. Sadly I think since underoos are actually a thing that have been known to have comic characters on them, it's probably a nod to that.

Forgotten Terrence Howard, this guy could have continued as war machine and made tons of money, but decided to renegotiate his salary for Iron Man 2.
According to terrence there was a verbal agreement to increase his salary but they decided they could get a different for the same role at a lower price.

These are the practical effects that have been missing in later Iron Man incarnations, where it's mainly CGI
There is nothing wrong with cgi, most of what you think Is real is cgi nowadays
CGI if done right looks amazing. Iron Man 1 had the perfect balance of CGI and practical effects, but the CGI embellished upon the practical effects.
@@vexoclast5786 Wrong. The newer versions of Iron man look terrible and fake. A lot of this movie is done with props and done practically. You can really tell because this looks better than movies made almost 10 years after it.

I miss practical effects Ironman, so much work went into this. Shame to be replaced by shiny CGI.
Sure, but how u would build his "Nano-Suit" from Avengers 3&4?! ;).. So the CGI is needed.. But i'm a huge fan from old special effects from the 90s etc.
@@JonnyK2025 Apart from the bleeding edge suit most of iron man's suit history could have been done with practical effects. Practical effects are objectively better since they will never age.
I think practical effect are more expensive these day
