One thing I think Vince is right about is the guys looking like athletes and keeping themselves in shape. A guy like Balor is smaller, but he looks like he’s chiseled out of stone. Gunther dropped the weight and he looks like a stern killer.
Considering actual MMA fighters more often than not look carved out of stone sans the heavyweight division yes I rather my fake fighters look strong and fit.

Triple H commented a while back about events being long. Recently, he even mentioned that their television shows needed to still have content. Having events too long will destroy the moods of the fans reactions, especially for the main event, where it's needed the most. Tony still needs a booker to help him with things like this. So far as Adam Copeland goes, I hope they protect him and his well being, and I hope Copeland tells them he's not doing anything that's crazy. AEW needed him the most, than the WWE. His image and reputation won't be hurt. This is a chance for him to make more money and help guys, who need it.

I really enjoy segments like this, where Brian is challenging and interrogating Jim's point of view. They're both knowledgeable enough to make the debate truly interesting.
That what Uncle Dave and his lapdog should have done, having a healthy discussion with both side can disagree with each other POV or their thoughts NOT Uncle Dave yapping on and on especially the negative stuff about WWE bad and his lapdog only nod and agreeding with whatever Uncle Dave said
Brian is a clown who, with his knowledge of wrestling, should know better but instead acquieses for modern wrestling. He constantly makes excuses for a lack of story/psychology (especially if the wrestlers involved he finds attractive). Obviously not to the extent as Meltzer but just enough

Personally, for me, there's too much Brian on this show in general.

I like that Jim is straining over a lot of these matches and then Brian's like "meh, I thought it was good."
At least Brian isn’t as bad as Conrad with being an AEW mark…but I feel like he will slowly get there unfortunately.

As long as he's humble about it at 35, fair game. It's the guys that whine about their aches that did stuff like this that I have no sympathy for. He knows he will be living in pain, he doesn't care. He's either stupid or doesn't plan to live that long.

Just so everyone knows, I did some math work on Hangman Vs Swerve. During the part where Swerve was hit with the Deadeye on the stairs, they were on the outside in total for 93 seconds. I sat there doing a referee style count, and I got to count 47.

I have to agreed with Brian Last of all people that all those older wrestler are loyal to Vince NOT to TKO and Ari Emmanuel. So when Edge offered to wrestle more for a certain amount of money, they will decline despite Edge being a HOF legend.

That was all complete bulls hit. The only reason AEW did another eight hour PPV monstrosity was so the guy who was Edge could come out at the end. I’ve just seen a comment from someone saying they cried when that happened, and it was well worth $50….

Ibushi WAS really good at one point (besides the goofy DDT stuff) but I have not seen anything remotely like that out of him in AEW . Its almost like he doesn't care or have the same fire he used to . IDK whats going on with him now . Injuries built up ? But at this time Takeshita blows him away . Im really liking him .He is gonna be huge ! If not here , in Japan .
Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. were both never better than they were at the WWE's Cruiserweight Classic tournament, the WWE Network Special PLE that inspired the creation of 205Live (also literally got Cedric Alexander a job because the live crowd chanted "hire him HHH!" and HHH actually did it after booking Cedric to lose in Round 1 to Butch (he was still the Bruiserweight at that point). When these indy guys who can't help themselves are booked by someone (HHH and Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuiness were all 3 involved in booking the CWC) who knows what they're doing they shine-- unfortunately in AEW the inmates run the asylum so we get cold feuds that are hyped as "Dream Matches" even tho it doesn't matter who won between ZSJ or Danielson, or who got the pinfall in that Trios non-match Ibushi or Takeshita... the outcomes and the endings don't matter cause there's no storyline.
Unlike the CWC, where there was a storyline created in real time for literally each match, if there wasn't Cedric Alexander would've been fired like Shelton Benjamin but to this day he still works at WWE and gets a great reaction from fans. The power of good booking right there.
I hate to say it but I agree, this is definitely not the same Ibushi that dominated NJPW a few years ago. I know he jacked his shoulder up pretty bad and had to take time off, which eventually led to problems with NJPW entirely. He didn't wrestle for like 2 years and this was like only his 3rd or 4th back so I'm trying to give him the benefit of doubt because I know how fucking good he is but he just seems completely uninterested in wrestling. Like he's only there right now because a Kenny asked him. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just ring rust/new company, new country jitters.
I remember first seeing him the WWE cruiserweight tournament and he was phenomenal. Should have won really but he didn’t want join WWE full time.
I think he made a mistake with that, he could have been huge

Honestly, being in the building... it was way more awesome than I expected. Paid 43 bucks (with fees, 35 before) to get a floor seat right next to the right entrance and the wrestling stans really are carrying this company. The folks around me had great energy. Also accidentally bumped into Aussie Open in the back when they were clearly lost.

Corny is right in that the psychology in wrestling today just sucks. What's worse is it's not improving. No matter how loud we yell the kids don't listen.
I would've never thought of the Erik Watts comparison with Wheeler Yuta before Brian mentioned it but it does kinda make sense. I will say though that Yuta's more talented even though that might not be saying much.

I was there...Corny you hit it on the head. It was SO long. I left early because I had to work the next day and figured Edge wouldn't show. Missed the best part because I was just done after 4+ hours. Should have been 3, 3 1/2 hours max.

I think Brian saw this right. I’m sure edge got quite a stipend, and if they let someone with half a brain book this, edge and christian heeling out together is a license to print $.
You have to do the feud, we have seen them together we never seen them feud why they were at there highest point as stars. its fresh, and it will be great, eventually face or heel you will team them up, hell even a match with the hardys is an special attraction.

@@kristenjones4306 Jim doesn't go to commercial mid-commentary of a match so when the ad ends you've missed him explaining the parts of the match he didn't like and the whole thing has no context left. The problem with commercials in Raw are that they're mid-match so the matches don't flow properly and as little wrestling as possible is on the wrestling show.

His ads are funny to 😂 unlike the five minute commercials for the Lexus I've seen 1,000 times that I can't afford.

Julia Hart vs Statlander was actually the only reason I wanted to watch the ppv. I see Jim wasn't a fan but I loved the match was coming out of my seat by the end of it. I know Julia is getting married and taking time off but I hope she's back sooner rather than later.

Very good review from Jim and Brian. I was at WrestleDream. It was amazing, but it was indeed too long. I wouldn't have minded 1-2 less matches. The Christian/Darby stair spots was weird. Jim's explanation makes sense. The last one did look so nasty. The crowd was so hot for Swerve and others. It was great seeing Barnett and Claudio chain wrestling.
I was certain that Edge would not go to AEW, and I was blown away when he came out. Overall, I really enjoyed the PPV, more than anything WWE related I've gone to, but AEW does prove that you can have too much of a good thing. I felt similar when watching a PPV on TV, after a while, I had my fill of over the top matches. Very valid points from both. The red spots on Ospreay was weird looking and I had no idea what it was. There is so much more I could go over, but in the end, I loved WrestleDream.
You know what would be really cool if they put all the big-time contract names stipulations if company goes out of business they could go and get paid to wrestle any promotions under that guaranteed money just to help boost independent promotion

Actually I detected undertones of glee in his voice at certain times. Definitely some matches got his blood boiling, but there was a certain gleam that I hadn’t heard in a while

Edge had his career, had his comeback, now he’s getting a multi-million dollar cherry on top to finish his career with his best friend. Vince probably encouraged him to go, he wasn’t gonna offer him a full time deal worth nearly what Tony Khan would. So why not? You know Tony’s gonna do a massive show in Toronto for Edge and Christian’s final match, it’ll probably be the main event at the Skydome, and he will have the perfect ending to his career. There’s literally no negative, other than he’s gonna have to work with the Nick Wayne’s of the world…

I suspect they use everything the week they've thought of it because of the ADHD booking, they can't build to anything.
