I have... insane drive timeout issues on several games with the 7900 XTX. Darktide is unplayable and I have had 2 RMA'd cards so far with the same driver issues, but I can run a 7600 RX on my system no issues. Phantom Brigade also drive timeouts, and a few DX12 old games like Deus Ex on DX 12 will crash, but DX 11 will not. I'd love to keep the 7900 XTX but... this issue makes it garbage.
Cyberpunk no issues, a few bigger games no issues. BUt you CANNOT rely on this card to be able to run something.
DO NOT. Get the 7900 XTX. Its drivers are insane, they are awful, AMD is not responding to us either. There's a hardware survey of 200+ people reporting this issue with hundreds of different hardware combinations. AMD will NOT answer.

@@ErgonomicChair hi, this sounds like there is a problem somewhere else in your system that only happens when you run a more powerful GPU (rx 7600 150W vs 7900xtx 350W).
and once the 7900xtx is running is stressing more your system that that flaw is noticeable, power supply, ram even the motherboard power delivery.

@@TheBoltcranck Can't be, I have a 1200 watt power supply. That and it runs Cyberpunk 2077 ultra perfectly fine, it has nothing to do with power draw as I can also run synthetic benches fine.
It IS an issue with the drives. DarkTide runs at 100 FPS, Cyberpunk at 60 FPS. Cyberpunk draws more power. Phantom brigade is less power/graphically draining than either and also crashes.
This is a flaw with the driver suite of AMD and has been reproted on a survey of 200 people now all with different configurations and AMD knows about the issue, have acknowledged it to us in emails, but release ZERO press statements or recalls. Starfield actually had this isuse but they patched it out quickly enough... so they KNOW the issue and are doing nothing to fix it.

I think the 4080 is a very good card for 4k heavy RT (and non RT) games if you use DLSS on balanced or performance with Frame Generation where possible.
And it might get better with future driver and DLSS updates. You can use 'DLSS Swapper' for tinkering with that.

    • @stickysquirrel5687
      @stickysquirrel5687 Před 17 dny

Future driver updates will potentially improve both cards both are equal in performance except in ray tracing which will have to be a toggle for almost a decade still.
In the end it becomes budget, availability, use case.
And at that point amd is better overall but Nvidia does specific programming applications better and 50/50 on blender.
The moment you need all the vram you can get amd will outshine nvdia.
It's just trading blows and next gen with pcie5 is upon us the leap that the next gen could give us could be enormous.

Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24G would be the best XTX 7900 graphics card you can get. Not bad for a budget and probably outperforms the ATX 4070 TI super in performance. Although the ATX 4080 wins in performance here in 4k gaming. The XTX 7900 has similar performance in 1080p and 1440p with close or even better in some games FPS. But for 4k gaming. 4080 wins. MHO, both these cards aren't meant for 4K. It would be meant for 4K if the devs weren't that lazy to fully optimize their games to run great on PCs. But I guess, that will take a few years for devs to really consider us as PC gamers to optimize their games to accommodate us.
Nevertheless, these GPUs can run perfectly fine on 4K but I would suggest 1440P. If you are a streamer especially on Twitch, then 4K gaming is pointless because viewers won't really see the difference. As for 1440P, thats the go to resolution in 2024 and beyond for now of course until games fully matured to run 4K res properly on PC. VRAM isn't an easy for GPUs these days, its the Devs that's flippen lazy to optimize the games.
Nvidia- great for RT+DLSS, streaming, content creation and work of course. Power efficient. Caters for everyone but greedy like Apple.
AMD- gaming only. Very Power-hungry. Caters for gamers only and make GPUs affordable for now but soon will skyrocket their pricing because AMD doesn't really make much profits.
I have an RTX 4070 and I am quite happy with it even though I only have 12GB Vram.
I believe that if I had both these cards, I would've just tweaked a few settings in-game to get 100+ FPS on 4K. Unless bro didn't enable any special features on Team Green and Team Reds GPUs.

MSRP may be 999 vs 999 US dollars, but in reality on any given average day in the US the 7900 XTX is 920 and the 4080 Super is 1150. I do believe that the 4080 Super is the better card overall, but it's not a whopping 230 dollars better. If you are one of the few lucky ones to be able to grab a 4080 Super for the super rare 999 MSRP price then yes, it's the better deal. Thing is though, the 7900 XTX is going to keep dropping in price, and the 4080 Super will not drop lower than 999 for a long time.

For 4k with the 5800x3d, I would go with the rx 7900xtx. It has more vram and it can also benefit from SmartAcessMemory in some games. Also, it can typically be found at a cheaper price than the 4080/s but that will depend on your country/region.

Daamn thats sad! Games recommend these cards at 4k ultra & cant even go pass 60+ fps. The 1st 3 games should be running at like 80 to 90 fps 4k not below 60! This here is why i stick with 1080p. Graphics cards are still having issues keeping up with 4k 60 unless is Esports related titles. Other than that its not great to have 4k display. Ive seen so many tests with highest performing hardware & still struggle at 4k 60+. 70 feels like it struggled to that fps. Like i said this is why im staying at 1080p ultra.

no bro. Sorry. Because the current memory clock speed of 7900 xtx will never allow the use of 24 GB vram. You can look at the 4070 ti and 3090 tests. 4070 ti is %2 faster than 3090. (in native comparison) Even though 3090 is 12 gigs more, you will not be able to find a solution to the clock speed. Because any 12 GB GPU card that will come a few years from now will give 60 fps at 4k, while the 24 GB xtx will perhaps have a power below 30 fps. More vram will be of no use in this case
