  • Allis Chalmers might be known for their rubber tired tractors, they also built a wide variety of crawlers. The Allis Chalmers Model M Track Tractor has become a popular one among Classic Crawler Collectors. The Model M was built from about 1932 to 1942 in Springfield, Illinois with about 14,500 produced. They could do about 29 horsepower on the drawbar and about 35 horsepower on the belt. Rex Condie from Arizona shares his passion for Allis Chalmers tractors and the story on his low production WM or wide variation on the Model M Crawler. I really enjoy your vintage tractor stories. I used to work for Massey Ferguson head office in Australia during the DX pressure control launches. I supervised the launch of the "Stars at Traction" field days, where we launched the Massey Ferguson MF1100 with pressure control hitches. Demonstrating the traction control with 33 furrow tandem furrow stump jump plows in tandem. I have retained my lifelong interest in older tractors. Keep it up please. Rick S.Australia.

    Brings back good memories of my grandfather and the farmall cub he had. It originally was my great grandfathers but it burned up in the garage fire in the 80s. In the early 2000s my grandfather finally decided to restore it. I had so much fun helping him, as much as a 5-6 year old could, and even more fun riding on it with him. He also had a Farmall B, a Super C, and an old case with a loader on it. The Farmalls never saw much use but he bushhoged my great grandmother’s field with the case every month through the spring, summer, and fall. The only tractor left in the family now is the cub which my uncle owns. I’m hoping someday it will be mine.

    Also, a little tip for anyone who doesn't want to nosedive over the radiator. If you pull both steering clutches you can slowly walk over humps and logs. Learned that from my dad when we logged with them

    I have one of those. I rescued it from a scrapyard about 20 years ago. It's complete but I have never had the time and money at the same time to fix it up, yet.

    I don't have the information in front of me but I believe that a little check would find the engine in the M was the same as used in RC and WC wheel tractors.

    • @RJ1999x
      @RJ1999x Před 5 lety +3

      That would be wrong. The RC had a 125 cu in engine same as the C and B, and the WC had a 201 cu in engine

    Our family had an Allis Chalmers Model D12. I never knew what year it was, frankly I have yet to find any information about it. I have been told it was a 1948 someone else told me 1959. My family sold the tractor, but I will always wonder what we had.

    • @nelliet1950
      @nelliet1950 Před 5 lety +2

      The tractor would have been a CA if it was built in 1948. The entire D series, D10 through D19, came out in the late 1950's and was built through much of the 1960's.

    I have a herd of these machines. I pick up every one I see. I ran into something new on a 1940 dozer I'm working on. There were no gear numbers on the transmission cover and could never get it into 1st gear. Pulled the cover to fix a broken brake band and discovered it has no first gear!!! Its a 3 speed. All my others are 4 sp. Anyone hear of this before?
