  • In this video I cover the method I use to open shotgun loading ports. This is not an end-all be-all One True Way, just how I do it. There are other great videos out there I would also recommend you watch, chiefly Jesse Tischauser's video series on the same subject:

    The tools I used are:
    - Brightly colored vinyl tape & 2" painters tape.
    - Variable speed Dremel or equivalent die grinder
    - 1/8" double cut carbide burr
    - Dremel sanding drums, fine grit
    - Dremel EZ Lock mandrel and finishing abrasive buffs in 180, 280 and 320 grit
    - Dremel buffing wheel and white rouge, green stainless and blue all-purpose buffing compounds.
    - Vise with padded jaws.

    Digging the Top Gear shirt.
    And thanks for the tip on the ridge on the receiver. I’m going for a deep cut on my Benelli M3, so I need to make sure I’m not going beyond the limit in that area. 👍🏼

    Ok, project franchi is almost don't for me! Installed the taran carrier, safety, hammer spring, and hi-viz comp sight, and opened up the loading port. Luckily I have a friend with a mill that helped with keeping that lines straight. The next thing to do is play with the magazine catch. It's awfully stiff from the factory. I had a chance to inspect a complete taran benelli build and saw where they doctored the catch and made loading a lot easier! I'll try and get a video uploaded this weekend.

    At the end of this video you mention your plan to upgrade the shell stop system. I can't find the video doing that job.
    Can you point me to it? Thanks

    Hello, I was thinking about getting a Franchi Affinity One for 3-gun. How many shots have you made out of your gun? Any problems so far? Thank you in advance

      Not my gun, but it's been a great gun for the owner! I recommend them. Take a look at my channel and I have another vid breaking down the differences between the Affinity and the M2.

    Did you try using a bluing pen on the scratch. Should make it pretty much disappear.

    • @Ammosexual69
      @Ammosexual69 Před 5 lety +1

      John Synnott its an aluminum receiver. Glueing wouldn’t work. It would need an “aluminum black” pen which honestly doesn’t work that well. Best course of action would be to have it duracoated

    The question is ... When you cut down that side of the gun, the retention pin is now too long. How did you handle the bolt release, retention pin?

    • @ShadetreeArmorer
      @ShadetreeArmorer  Před 6 lety +1

      On my M2 and the Affinity, I didn't cut far enough to the point where the pin is too long. But anyway, on those guns, the pin is a roll pin. It can be cut if necessary. On the Stoegers, it's not a roll pin and instead it's a regular pin held in by a little clip. You can't cut as far on the Stoeger receiver because of this.

      @DangerN8 Před 5 lety

      Shadetree Armorer MOA Precision makes a replacement pin. Though I'm sure you could just buy a roll pin at the hardware store

    If you put the franchi recoil spring on a benelli would the franchi bolt carrier and bolt function in the benelli?

    • @ShadetreeArmorer
      @ShadetreeArmorer  Před 7 lety

      Check out my other video on the Affinity vs M2 and you'll see why this question doesn't quite make sense. The action spring (recoil spring) system is the primary difference between the two guns and they will not interchange.

    • @RichWitGame
      @RichWitGame Před 7 lety

      Shadetree Armorer I guess that was my question. Will the action spring from the franchi function on the Benelli magazine tube? Also are the magazine tubes interchangeable?

    • @ShadetreeArmorer
      @ShadetreeArmorer  Před 7 lety

      Same answer, check out my other vid. Details all the differences.

    • @RichWitGame
      @RichWitGame Před 7 lety

      Shadetree Armorer I watched the Affinity vs M2 video. That's kind of what got me interested in their parts compatability. I didn't see where it confirmed or denied interchangeability of the magazine tubes.

    • @ShadetreeArmorer
      @ShadetreeArmorer  Před 7 lety

      They're not interchangeable first and foremost because they're different lengths, same reason the barrels can't interchange.

    How much do you charge for this kind of work on a Beretta 1301 Competition Shotgun and where are you located? Thank you.

      I don't charge anything because I don't do paid work - this is intended to be a how-to video so you can DIY!

    Franchi Affinity or Stoeger M3K?

    • @ShadetreeArmorer
      @ShadetreeArmorer  Před 8 lety

      +D Jones The Franchi is easier to find and I'd open up the loading port on the M3K anyway. IMO, the only thing the M3K does right is the oversized bolt release and bolt handle. I'd still want to open up the port more, extend the carrier and add a bigger magazine tube. Considering the Affinity is only about $100 more than an M3K and so much nicer overall, I'd say that's a no-brainer.

    • @uppychow
      @uppychow Před 8 lety

      Thanks for the quick reply! The other bonus is not having to do anything to the taran extended carrier to get it to fit.

      Heat is never a good thing for metal, his method is the best, ans try to cut perfectly right with a saw ... just to start the cut straight in a weird angle would be pretty funny to see 😅
