- On 7th of January 2024, a very special meetup was organized at the home of Vishy and Aruna Anand in Chennai. Everyone was invited for breakfast but there was also a prize ceremony of CNN News18 for Pragg, a documentary creator was there to interview Gukesh and much more! In this video you get to see the vibrant chess community of Chennai which includes players like Adhiban, Sethuraman, Pranav V., Bharath Subramaniyam, Kidambi, Deepan, Magesh, Konguvel, Saravanan - of them GMs and IMs and many more. Get the feel of being there and enjoying the morning with some of the biggest names of Indian chess.

Why not Bharat Ratna for Vishy? One of the most dignified and simple legends in any sport the world over
I completely agree. He should be given the Bharat Ratna. It's only because of him that India has these super-talented GMs. Vishy is ultimately the inspiration for all.
I think he will get it once he announces his retirement just like Tendulkar got it after his retirement.

He's generally aloof from the national sports federation so it is taking a bit longer.. the way they treated koneru.. i think even he would have faced a similar treatment, since then he probably went on with private funding..

Sagar, awesome vlog! Simply loved it. Indian chess owes what it is today to this chess legend! The poem by Kidambi was amazing. What a simple couple, both Anand and Aruna are! Loved Ramesh's story about his teen age students. Though the audio was not too clear it was spontaneous. Anand is still quietly working behind the scenes for the improvement of Indian chess. Thanks to you for bringing those to the limelight.

Obviously Vishy has been playing chess at a higher level (world champ) for a lot longer so of course he has earned more money. Now look at any of Magnus' streams and compare his lounge room where he plays online to Vishy's lounge room. Huge difference again, even though Magnus is arguably more successful in chess

After watching the heart-warming video of Pragg and family, this is another wonderful treat. Vishy is clearly the most liked and respected of the great players. Loved to see an interview with Aruna Ji at the end. I've seen so many with Anand but haven't seen her since he was WC..been like more than 10 years now. Listening to her I remember she turned their home into a shelter during the floods. Piano was nice too.

If you watch this video, you will find that Prag is being given sportsman of the year award in this video by a news channel. Three days later, Government of India awarded Arjun Award, a sports award to Vaishali.
One can say that chess is more like study and research scholsrship, but it is considered a sport nevertheless and not considered study or research.
