    The 3 beginner dirt bike riding tips taught in this video are:

    lmao I though something was wrong with my bike because I was stalling so much! I was letting it out at the end too fast, once I got moving I was like "okay release it" I was getting mad because I was giving it enough gas. You know its a really good feeling when you find out that your bike is broken, it's just cause you're own stupid fault :) we need experts in this world lol! If you stop while in 3rd or 2nd gear then decide to shift all the way down to 1st (of course while still holding the clutch) will that damage the engine? As opposed to gradually downshifting

    • @MotocrossHideout
      @MotocrossHideout  Před rokem +1

      Hey Matt, glad to hear you found it helpful! Nope, that's totally fine if you're not comfortable shifting down while stopping yet - it won't hurt the engine. Is there anything else you're wanting to improve right now, Matt?

  • @lazy2988
    @lazy2988 Před 2 lety

    Just to make sure. You should use a little throttle before letting out the clutch then as it’s engaging use the throttle more?

    • @MotocrossHideout
      @MotocrossHideout  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your comment, Lindsay! You don't "need" to use throttle, but yes, I use a very small amount (as little as possible so it doesn't heat up the clutch as quickly) to get moving faster from a stop. The faster you want to accelerate or the steeper the hill you're starting on, the more throttle you'll need to use as you let out the clutch. Does that make sense, Lindsay?

      Hey Ricardo, it sounds like the clutch is dragging and needs to be adjusted or possibly the plates replaced if they're warped. I wrote an article about it on my site here: motocrosshideout.com/dirt-bike-clutch-dragging/

    So let's say your stopped for a while, do you hold down the clutch or just but the bike in neutral?

    • @MotocrossHideout
      @MotocrossHideout  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Good question - I put it in neutral if I'm stopped for more than 5 seconds because the clutch will heat up the engine quicker if still in gear, even with the clutch pulled in due to the friction of the plates still slightly rubbing.
