The fact that this show only got 5-6 weeks before it was axed, is an indictment upon the television landscape of the time. Tim and Kelly had great chemistry together, and I hope that if and when Wheel of Fortune gets another chance to come back, they get the chance to audition again, because they deserved much more than what they were given.

I feel that "The Price is right" being axed in 2005 was the beginning of the end for Australian game shows. The original "Wheel of fortune" was cancelled 6 months later after being on air for 25 year run, and what followed after that was a string of game show flops with new game shows either lasting 5 minutes or being destroyed in the ratings war by being on at the same time as "Deal or no deal" (Sadly, Million dollar wheel fell into both categories). In saying that though, there were some problems with MDWoF, particularly them constantly tampering with the structure of the show, the colour schemes and parts of the set during the show's short run

Wheel is getting another chance to come back with Graham Norton. Filming will start this November.

@@comedyfan74And here in July 2024, an air date still hasn’t been announced for broadcast by Channel 10. They are doing so badly, an insider has stated that the network may not survive by the end of the decade. Maybe they’re preparing to scrap it at the very last minute? Channel 10 in general is facing an uncertain future ahead of it.
In fact, many Australians are to be better served with 2 or just 1 commercial TV network, and one that would rather have Metropolitan Melbourne broadcast to Regional Victoria, replacing all local advertising output in Ballarat, Bendigo and even Shepparton, and others. Other townships in VIC, NSW and SA would be better off with Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide respectively.
There could be exceptions for this, Seven in Regional WA, who provide that much needed 30 minute bulletin for their regional GWN audience, and their NSW audience, including Albury-Wodonga, who get 6pm 30-min bulletins, totalling 5 local bulletins. NBN would continue to remain in Northern NSW, including Newcastle, and have 1-hour bulletins. And nothing would change on WIN in Wollongong, because that is their home market, so a local bulletin to their area is still there. Canberra and Tasmania would see no changes, except for Channel 10. Nine in Darwin wouldn’t change either. And Seven’s Regional QLD and Gold Coast bulletins wouldn’t go away either, they are the only network to cover all of QLD, no change there. Otherwise, change the feeds elsewhere to Melbourne (except Albury-Wodonga), Sydney (except for Wollongong, Canberra and Northern NSW, and Seven’s area coverage of full 30-min local bulletins) and Adelaide (including Broken Hill, Port Lincoln and Whyalla, they don’t need their own TV service anymore, they can just watch Adelaide Metro local ads, because their local news service was axed after the last broadcast aired on 12 April 2023). If these networks want to survive into the future, they need to switch those feeds in non-news covered areas to their respective Metropolitan stations, and viewers won’t need to press Channel 5 (for 10), Channel 6 (for 7) or Channel 8 (for 9 on WIN). Geelong is covered under Metropolitan Melbourne television, and yes, Geelong is an outer suburb of Melbourne, despite being an hour apart. Time to see some change.

A very rare occurrence in the history of the show - the Surprise being a car. I can only remember remember 2 other occasions where the Surprise was a car, and in fact, Denise may have been the only female contestant to win a car by getting the Surprise

I can remember during the Rob Elliot era, the surprise was a car and unfortunately the man solving the puzzle said "First Time Man Walk On Moon" when it should have been "First Time Man Walks On Moon" and lost it.

As for the that misslove, there is an episode from the Steve Oemcke era floating around on here where something very similar happened - the puzzle was "Man first walks on the moon" and the contestant erroneously answerd with "Man first LANDS on the moon"

I love how this version of Wheel of Fortune came close to the original U.S. version of gameplay; whereas Wheel from other English-speaking countries constantly retained the shopping verion of the show which made it horrendously boring.

@@ForTheLoveOfBroadcast That's a shame, because my Grandmother was a champion for 2 shows (which I believe were the 6th and 7th November 1996) when Tony Barber and Adriana Xenides were the host and hostess. Unfortunately she passed away in April last year, and we also unfortunately threw out the VHS that we recorded her episodes on. I presumed it would be a long shot that anyone would have recorded her episodes, but you can't blame a guy for trying. All the best, and keep up all the great uploads.

I suspect the surprise car giveaway was just a first-episode publicity stunt. Tim is an attractive host, but he's trying a bit too hard; he needn't have been that exuberant. The fact that he was an already established actor made it feel too obvious that he was affecting a personality for the show.
