Scag Giant Vac - Early Fall 2013 - Truck Loaders

- The leaves have just started to fall here in Mayville WI so we wanted to get some video of the Scag Giant-Vac truck loaders in action. Nothing too challenging for them at all (half throttle used on most of the videos) as the leaves are nice and dry for the most part, but many have asked to see them, so here they are! We'll try to get more videos as the leaf piles get bigger and we'll try to get some blower and vacuum video as well.
Thanks to the City of Mayville for letting us help them collect leaves and thanks for watching.
I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. czcams.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.
I went from reddit, to flying creations, and now I'm on leaf sucking vacuums because it's so satisfying. I love the internet.

@ScagPowerEquipment - you guys need to replace the diagonal support bar with a hydraulic lift/lower mechanism on the 35hp+ models. It probably adds $400 in parts to the machine but makes it so much easier to use on the operator all day. Its the only way the larger machines, especially the 49hp Kubota option which we were thinking of buying, will compete with the larger xtreme vac and bonnell machines. If the hydraulic option is added, I could see many more municipalities buying it as well. We currently are running the 29hp machine and may add the hydraulic in ourselves this season.

We will if possible...Gotta wait for some rain so we can grab some more video. This was just some of the first leaf piles we found around town and wanted to get something posted as we have had a lot of requests and we have a short window to grab any real video. These loaders will devour the wet stuff.

Agreed and that is what we call out in our manuals.
With the size of the tube so large and heavy, I wonder if one day there will be a cradle and hydraulic system to hold and aim the end of the tube.
The video at 2:34 shows dry leaves mixed in with a LOT of lush, wet grass. We have had a lot of rain the last few weeks, but prior to the leaves falling. So the grass is heavy and wet, but the leaves are not....yet anyway!
yea show me a video of yall doin that with wet leaves. i do this for aliving too and them damn wet leaves suck so bad when they get in the mix lol

Is it just me or do you hate it when they leave pieces of debris behind? Such a powerful machine that you're demonstrating and you're leaving debris behind!!! buyers look at stuff like that FYI...
We did make sure to get everything prior to leaving the spot! This happened to be more for the purpose of R&D testing and the marketing team tagged along to catch a good video opportunity.

Horrible for the operator's back. And the round nozzle is optimized for throughput, but makes it inefficient in covering ground. How about a half moon shape with the flat part to the ground? Maybe guided parallel to the ground with a linkage built on the truck? Would reduce the worker's strain to moving the nozzle horizontally. Easy for me to say of course, but hopefully it gives you further ideas.
That pile at 2:48 needed a skid loader with a grapple then finish with the super suck.

We have one of these at my job. How do you get the thing to not blow waaaay too hard out the outtake? Nothing stays in the truck, you could stand 40 feet away and near get blown over just from the air.

Yes it does. All debris goes through the 20" all steel, four blade impeller before being discharged. It depends a lot on the material, but an average debris reduction ratio is about 12:1.
Why dont you run it 100% throttle ? Thats what the real consumer would run it at. We want to see full power on the big engines !
Good morning German, this video was predominately for R&D testing purposes of these units. The test engineer, shown in the video, was looking at the performance at different levels of throttle.

question? what about the small rocks it must pick up? that has to damage that machine.
These will collect some smaller debris such as rock and pebbles without doing too much damage. These all have a wear liner incorporated into them that can be replaced in the event to much of that type of debris is sucked up.

If peoplea work alone without any second pair of hands then they tend to leave stuff behind. Another guy with a rake would move stuff on a narrower pile and thus keep things tidy. Being a customer. I would not be satisfied with most of the results shown here.
Also, why isn't the nozzle on some tiny wheels if 90% of the time it is being dragged on the ground?
