I have been following you for a couple of years I've watched all of your videos multiple times on two different CZcams accounts. I absolutely love your personality the way you think you're singing all of it. I've been meaning to mail you a letter about a Coraline video you could do but with my life and ADHD that's very difficult LOL so now is a better time than any. You could have done a video about it and I've missed it but I really don't think you have but in the scene where wybie and Coraline meet he says something about her being a water witch and then she responds with well if I'm a water which then where's the well and as it turns out it was directly under her feet. I haven't heard anybody talk about that and I wanted to hear your opinion on it
Hi, Fan Girl! Long time fan of your work analyzing Coraline. I was wondering, is there a connection between Wybie and the cat? Is he one with the cat? On re-watching the movie I was really amazed at how often they are shown together in the real world and thusly, maybe Wybie is some kind of witch himself? Maybe the cat is his familiar? Definitely something to wonder about, and perhaps make a video? Thank you and wishing you the best! Merry Mabon (Autumn Equinox)!
@@gothmaze if you go thru her coraline videos she actually has quite a few theories on that. They're quite cool
Hi, Fan Girl,
You said there was no gravity behind the wondow and that's why the doll floats up and down. This makes perfect sense. The Theorizer was right all along. There is no gravity because it's a spatial plane and a space portal, that is from space. That's where the lovecraftian edlritch parasitic monster that is the Other World came from, he/it came from space (the original novel even describes the Other World as a whole living entity and the portals as its mouth, throat, oesophagus, etc, and it's described as something far older/more ancient than the beldam and it's described as "very old and very slow" but it awakes and is getting stronger as Coraline "escapes", this thing is the true villain, the true evil, and the beldam is just a puppet, is just a parasitic creature living in the throat of the true monster). The Theorizer talked about this in his Coraline theory video series or his compilation video "Coraline theory: literally every mystery solved", especially part 9 through 13. The window is magical and probably connects to the spatial plane and probably exist outside of both the Other World and the real world but the beldam since she can't really leave the Other World because she would deteriorate can only go into that room for a short time and only when it's time to make a new doll, or she has to close the window to that spatial plane when she's done making her doll. Just watch The Theorizer's whole video series, he explains everything about the so-called "cat", especially in part 9 through 13. Also Wybie said that the well is supposed to be so deep that if you fall down the well, you see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day. And when the doll is floating behind the window, there's a sky full of stars in the background. And The Theorizer said in his video series that the well is not really a well, more like a deep, large object which fell from space (the lovecraftian eldritch monster that's the Other World and whose physical embodiment is a "cat") and crashed through the ground very deep, and as we see the Other World is a different universe. something directly affiliated with space.

@@TheFangirlWatchesI just want to say I have been watching your content for years coraline and not coraline and I really enjoy it! I hope you will do a collaboration with the theorizer and / or matpat (film theory) one day because I like them too and I think a collaboration would be amazing
I have to ask if you could please answer a burning question I have had about Coraline for a bit and that is what if a child with a single father or gay dads moves into the pink palace? Similarly what if someone turned it into an orphanage? They can’t an other mother if they don’t have a mother right!
Anyway I hope you and your family have a good day and I hope you see my comment
Scene by scene analysis is something I've always wanted to see someone do for literally any movie ever, and this ones perfect
"Scene by scene analysis is something I've always wanted to see someone do for literally any movie ever, and this one is perfect."
Yes, it even confirms some of our theories as more in-depth analysis, details and informations allow us to make more connections and see things that we didn't notice before. Btw, read my previous comment in this comment section...
I saw a theory on TikTOk pointing out that Coralines toy squid has a pointed head in the real world, but the toy squid in the Other World has Cat Ears.
After Coraline allegedly escaped the Other World she is seen with her dad and the toy squid, which has Cat Ears
What!
That "wreath" is a vintage Chinese pin cushion. I have one that looks exactly like it 😊
Oh it’s from a Chinese background? So neat to learn!
I’d like to note that, but for the doll came into a Coraline’s possession I believe Mrs. L kept it in her possession as a memory, memory token of her loss sister. This may explain how she kept an eye on the family.
10:24 someone on TikTok identified the bigger bird as a cuckoo bird. So that could relate to how real cuckoo birds act (stealing all the food/ love from the bird who originally made the nest and killing the original babies not sure how the killing of the babies could relate but it does connect back to a changeling type scenario.
I’m an unfortunately not a bird expert, so I didn’t even think to look up what type of bird it was - but that is such a layered, perfect design if that is the case!
Your coraline content is my favorite.
I am so very glad to hear that, thank you!
I believe an interesting name for it would be "The Other Fangirl". But that would only be as a reference LOL.
Edit: I really appreciate this scene analysis. I have been trying to work on a self-produced animated web series with little to no experience on script writing. I consider myself a decent writer, however scripts are vastly different than a novel or poem. This analysis has helped me understand how a scene may be structured; how they flow. Not to mention, I just enjoy watching content on a childhood movie I grow to appreciate more and more with age.
Oh that would be a very cute official title for her!
I didn't think of it from that angle, but I'm really glad that it's helping you think of how to construct a story! On the occasions that I write fiction now, I try to forcibly add in spaces to come back later and have some mystery or bigger issue unravel (you don't always know every twist and turn you're going to have until you start moving a story along and characters start taking on a life of their own). But, things like Coraline have details at such an insane level, every screenshot I take has something to uncover in there.
It’s interesting how when all the cast and crews names are listed it’s all done by an embroidery machine based on the little lines of thread between the words and everything is pristine. But when it gets to Coraline’s name/title it’s very unfinished and a lot sloppier, not to mention the O in her name is missing as replaced by a button.
Also the Beldam having dolls of the others could aid in your theory about there being a fake ‘real’ world that Coraline goes to and that those dolls are for those versions (almost like puppets)
I noticed that to about the sewing, the names & the contrast between Coraline’s and the others!!!
@@Sailormoonsuperfan94
Me too. It's so freaking creepy...
10:08 To me the wallpaper looks more like a larger bird currently mauling and/or carrying away a smaller one. A hint to the dynamic between the beldam and her victims.
Not necessarily untrue, but there are birds who mate mid-flight and, if you look closely, it looks like the top bird has a piece of itself aimed and touching a…. uh… special mating spot. I am not a bird expert though lol
So I saw a video specifically about that wallpaper the other day. It references brood parasitic behavior. It is where one bird lays it's egg in another birds nest and tricks the owner of the nest into raising it's young. Often times the parasitic bird would even get rid of it's nest mates and take all of the mother birds attention with the mother being none the wiser because it believes it is one of its offspring. I forgot the specific birds it is referencing though
@@hannahortiz4066Belle Deville I love her!!!!!
@@hannahortiz4066cuckoos are the type of bird. The baby gets five times bigger than the parents taking care of it.
That item you mentioned in the sewing room... It reminds me of my Sunday School teacher's pincushion. It's the same shape and size, but hers was bright red and pretty, where this one looks old, dirty, and somewhat mottled, which would fit with the disrepair of the room itself.
Ooooh, you know when I later point out the tiny Spink, Forcible, and Wylie, the do have a lot of pins stuck in them, so maybe those are the same objects and it is a pincushion! I’ve never seen one that size/shape before.
@@TheFangirlWatches mine was shaped like a pumpkin, but colored like a tomato. So, a pomato?
@@TheFangirlWatches Agreed with OP. Looks like an antique bobbin holder with a pin cushion on top.
This was really great. All the details you are able to pick up were interesting. Looking forward to more scene analysis.
We’re going to get through the whole movie, bit by bit! :D

Excellent. Count me in. I'm on board. And I left message on The Theorizer's channel, with a little luck he'll be available to be on board too. I'm looking forward to watch the rest of your new series, more in-depth analysis, details and informations allow us to make more connections and see things that we didn't notice before.

I always wanted coraline to stumble upon the sewing room
It’s weird that it never circles back around in the movie. I wonder if that’s where the Beldam disappears to later…
08:52 omg The jacket that the other mother wears to impersonate Mel when Coraline walked through the door with the cat
Your passion for Coraline is infectious! That's why it made your channel grow.
The doll has been in the house that Wybie and his grandma lived in. The Beldam was able to see through the doll's eyes.
first off, thank you for feeding our insatiable craving for coraline info! have you seen the tik tok about the opening scenes wall paper? the 2 birds and white flower. i don't believe you to have ever covered that, but i found the video jaw dropping. thanks for all the hard work, you are amazing!!!!!!
This is a comment more on your other videos than this one. The Beldam, being essentially a spider, makes perfect sense to be saving her food via the limbo pink palace as spiders do just that. A fly runs into their web, they bite it to immobilize it (button eyes anyone?), wrap it in webbing (the other world and limbo), and save it for later after the poison has liquefied the fly's insides.
She's a giant spider, using the other world/limbo pink palace as her giant web to trap her little bugs in, saving them to eat them at her discretion. AND anyone we see once Coraline is moved into the pink palace is either dead already/in her limbo world, fabricated by the Beldam as a lure to entice Coraline into her web, or will soon be trapped by the Beldam along Coraline (parents and Wybie).
Mrs. Lovat might even know all this and has already lost a son or MAYBE brother to the Beldam by way of him becoming the cat and being her familiar, hence Wybie not being allowed in the pink palace nor allowing families with children to move in until Coraline. I'm guessing that was either desperation on Mrs. Lovat's part since the other renters are actually dead OR OR OR OR she found the changed doll and was signaled by the Beldam that it was time to bring her food lest she rake Wybie.
I wonder if the mini Wybie might actually be the Grandma/grandma's sister? It does look more like Wybie, but it's a interesting thought. The grandma had lived in the pink palace after all...
yay more coraline! one thought for defining a "scene" if you're watching it on DVD is to use the skip/next scene button on your remote or dvd player and make note of where the next scene begins (if that makes sense).
as for the little figures in the raincoat sequence, I think the one that looks like wybie might be his grandma OR his father if we're going with the theory that the beldam abducted his dad as well. but if we're going with the grain I would think it's wybies grandma
Hmmm, I will have to try and look close at tiny “Wybie” but the coat or something about it made me think it had to be him.
You should call the doll Megan, since there's the running joke of everyone getting coralines name wrong
omg that just made me snort!
Absolutely brilliant!!!
I can’t wait until you get to the transformation scene! That scene scared me so much back in 2009.
Ahhhhhhh, I was so ready to binge the whole docuseries🤣🤣😅😭
I love the details of the spider web in the window frame and the ghost girl doll approaching towards the window right before the beldam grabs it. It's a way of showing that the beldam "trapped" the ghost girl in her web (the other world) and is preparing for her next victim (Coraline).
EVERY GET UP THERES A NEW FANGIRL CORALINE THEORY VID !!!!
I may have released the video too early in the day, it’s not taking off as much as I had hoped lol
The wallpaper with the bird mating. I could almost switch it up and say that looks like an adult bird taking prey on a smaller weaker bird. Maybe younger. Looks like a drop of blood falls from the bigger birds mouth. I absolutely love this scene by scene analysis
Random thing I noticed about the Beldam replacing the stuffing:
Sometimes if a plush is very VERY OLD and you're doing a restoration on it, like sewing up holes or deep cleaning it you might take out the stuffing inside and replace it fresh stuffing.
I don't know HOW common this is but I've for sure seen it a few times when watching restorations of old plushies as stuffing can end up very bunched up and tight and the plush will look flat from use. And the stuffing we see fall does appear to be in tight bunches. Though this doesn't seem to be noticeable on the actual Sweet ghost girl doll so...Idk.
Why she replaced it with sawdust could be a for a number of reasons I'm not much of a theorist. Adding those lil plastic bean pouches make dolls more weighted and sit naturally.
Usually you'll add one near the booty on human shaped dolls or wherever you intend to have stay flat on a surface to sit.
I'm surprised the Coraline doll can stand up on it's own without it's head tipping over to be honest haha.
That is part of of a sewing kit to sharpen needles my grandma has one that looks exactly like it.
Thank you for sharing your info!
I LOVE this. I cannot believe how much detail was packed into this. It feels like I’m way the movie for the first time again lol
Remember the 3 ruined button eyes you pointed out? Ghost children? The 3 portraits on the wall?
Awesome work; thanks for it. That's a Chinese 8-person pincushion; used to be able to get them at Pier One.
It doesn’t matter I’ve seen every video you’ve done of coraline, I’m coming back every time
I love whenever you post Coraline videos! I enjoy your other content but your perspective of Coraline is intriguing 🥰
I can't tell you enough how much I love your Coraline videos. Bloodlust indeed! 😍😂
You should collaborate with the Theorizer. Because, that would be awesome. You two are the most qualified individuals to talk about this franchise.
10:54, This is actually a pin cushion you could get irl. My grandmother has this in her work room (she used to teach patchwork and quilting)
9:52 I always thought that this coup represent children with eye deformities/ injuries.
Melted eyes could represent a condition like lazy eye as physically the eye is fine, but the eye looks droopy due to the overhanging eyelid.
The broken/ bitten eye could represent an injured/ damaged eye like from an animal attack or abuse.
& what if the button with the hole represents blindness? A cold who had a blind eye wouldn’t be able to see normally like a regular button would be sewed onto the doll.
That mystery object is an asian child pincushion, i have an image but obviously can't post here, just Google search images though. They were really big back in the day.
I love these breakdown series so much that I started re-watching them. It's hard to guess which character sent the doll to the beldam so that she could modify it to look like coraline, but I wonder did the beldam create the doll while the jones family were moving in or did she really foresee coraline moving to pink palace?
I think this actually matters because if the beldam can see the future, it means she will know exactly how coraline is going to defeat her or run away from her and she could easily prevent it. Anyway, knowing that the beldam has access to the real world is really creepy to me.
Sobbing over the line button eye joe
i always thought that the sweet ghost girl doll floating into the other mothers hands meant that the Other Mother finished her soul, so all was left was her ghost, in the area behind the mirror, and the doll.
7:05 we were fortunate enough to go to the Hidden Worlds exhibit at MoPop in Seattle and they had some of the props from the making of the movie including this box/wreath and cat eye buttons 9:55
God it's such a good and creepy movie, honestly art
oh my god im literally draw dropped rn like oh em gee no way thats how the beldam controlled them?????? with those mini dolls???
I always thought that room was the addict or at least that tower/ an upstairs room we don't see in our world. Because its a window and we don't see any trees or buildings or mountains with is odd because the pink paluces at least in our wrold is surrounded by mountains and trees so this room would have to be very high up for there to be endless sky
Edit:and it candy be a basement because basement windows are very short and stout.
the unidentifiable sewing object is a chinese child pin cushion! I went to the coraline exhibit where they have the miniatures on display and the beldams pin cushion was there with tiny little people that all look different surrounding the cushion. i couldnt see all of the tiny figures on the cushion but two stood out! one had red hair while one had completely pink clothing w dark short hair.
Love Coraline.
Your Breakdowns Make The Movie Even Better.
7:09 Victorian Pincushion and Spool Holder.
Yes, make more content like this.
Oooh, interesting, I’ll have to look that up and see if I can find a similar match! Thank you!
I was watching Coraline again and I noticed that the begging credits have that worn-wool texture you talked about, but I realized its the same, if not REALLY similar to the fabric behind the doll when its placed on the tools kit. Also, when looking at the tools right before she opens the drawer, the tools look different. if you look at a photo of the tools earlier, the way they are lined up and organized isn't anywhere in the little kit. Nothing revolutionary but I thought it was a cool detail none the less.
I want to say C. my you'll never run out of coraline at this stage, it's going full circle! :D
Round and round and round I go! lol
Ohhh, this is gonna be good!!
I love this movie so much. I'm excited to see you disect the scenes!!!
Keeping up with the magical visuals 😂
I LOVE THIS. Thankyouuuuuuu
When I see the doll floating gracefully it makes me think of the well. Although it appears to float towards us mid air, I think it’s sinking down back to where it came from, and when the Beldam pushes it out the window it floats to the top. It doesn’t make sense in reality, but if she’s outside of our space and time then the laws of physics don’t apply to her anyways. I think either the rats bring the doll back to the well when it’s time for the next child (probably because at this point the little door is locked) or someone (possibly the other twin in this case) threw the doll down the well in an attempt to get rid of the Beldams link to the human world (like how coraline decided to throw the key down). Maybe Wybie lied about where he found the doll, he’s shown hanging out near the well and I bet if his grandma told him to stay away from it, he would be even more curious and could’ve found the doll in the well and fished it out
This is awesome, so excited!🕸✨️
I hope it was interesting to watch lol
@@TheFangirlWatches It sure was. Looking forward to what's to come
Answer to the Question: B, Miss April Spink hold the seeing stone out to Coraline with her knitting needles.
You should name the coraline doll “Fangirl Squared” cuz it’s the fangirls fangirl!
I think it’s such a shame people who love your Coraline videos don’t give all your others a chance. I watch your videos on shows I’ve never even watched just because I find what you have to say so interesting. So it’s a shame you feel you have to return to Coraline just to bring back those people, but I can’t say it isn’t exciting to see more Coraline content 😂 this is such a good idea this series, excited for what’s to come 💞
I know some CZcamsrs are very skilled at getting people to stick with them no matter what and watch anything they post, but I don’t seem to have that appeal for very many people lol. Like “no, I promise, this is good, just give it a chance,” but any time I post something different *poof* I lose hundreds of subscribers.
@@TheFangirlWatches it must be so frustrating 🫡 cuz it’s hard to be like “you’re all wrong for choosing to not watch my videos” while it also being true that if they gave them a go, most people would actually enjoy them 😂 especially when you pour so much hard work into your channel, and then it’s almost like being let down when people who love the Coraline stuff and demand more aren’t prepared to stick around for the other stuff too… all I can say is I know I will, I watch all the videos across all your channels and will continue to do so 🫶🏼
You inspire me ❤
Thank you so much!
I cant remember the specifics of it, or where to find it again, but I saw a video discussing the wall paper being a mother bird killing its child
My favorite animated movie
I always thought that the matreials used to fill the doll reflected the personalities of the kids she targeted. Like the cotton for a sweet, soft, tender child and sawdust/sand for a stubborn, determend, hard headed kid like choraline. Like u mentined the beldam made a concius choice to change the stuffing.
Oh that's a very interesting way to look at it!
Did you see the theory done on the wallpaper yet? It’s on TikTok but it’s basically where the big bird takes it prey kind of stuff. Also going along with the cat and the mother working together I think the cat probably told the mother about wybie or she knows what’s going to happen like you said in other theory’s.
7:17 i think it's a pin cushion!!
You might be right!
7:32 Kudos on knowing who that is.
(I forget when you mentioned this it may have been Coraline part 2) But I remember in one of your videos you mention that the 3 residents have to be dead becuase of things like how would they get food, but if it's Wibye who gets them food. Think about it he has a Moterbike and if the grandma really wanted him not to go to the pink palace than why give your grandson a vehicle that he would encourage him to explore 🤔.
Ooooh that is a good point! I would assume that theory is in Part 2-ish, but, honestly, 7 years later it’s hard to remember what all is in what videos now. 😂
I think a lot of scenes are in the audience face because there was a 3D version of the movie released on DVD
Best news I've got today 😊
Thank you for coming to watch!
I'm falling in love with your content all over again megane

I think the doll wreath thing is a wreath of souls’ dolls like spink forcible other father other wybie other bobinsky and the three children ghosts that she changes the appearance of to fit the child’s needs/reality and THAT is the reason we see the ones of spink forcible and wybie 10:27 here.
