How To Replace EGR Valve 2006-10 Ford Explorer

The EGR valve helps to reduce pollution by directing some exhaust gas back through the combustion chambers. If the valve is stuck the system won't work correctly, and if it leaks the engine might stall or not start at all. This video shows you how to install a new EGR valve on your 2006-10 Ford Explorer.

By far the hardest part of this job is that back mounting bolt. That bolt alone took me 40 min and the entire process was 65 minutes... this video shows him removing that back mounting bolt by hand :). Still a very helpful video. Probably wouldn't have tried it on my own without it. Many thanks.
Thank you. This is the most complete method for replacing this Valve on the site. When I removed mine the vacuum hose connecting the two inlet/outlet tubes on the valve was missing. I couldn't find any information on what connected to those spouts. Your very clear video showed what went there. I suppose a new valve would have had the hose on it as yours did, but I didn't need to replace the valve. I even removed the Intake Manifold trying to find the "non-existent" vacuum hoses. I wish I had found your video prior to that!

I was thinking the same thing.....the second bolt for the EGR valve itself. looks like that one will be a bugger to get to !!!!!

I see he must have cut out the part where he was swearing while removing that last 10mm retaining bolt. cant for the life of me get that out
this has better instructions than the Haynes manual. The manual didn't show the nut on the upper left throttle body. And the manual doesn't have the bolt sizes. Sooooo handy !!!!!

A very good informative video. You should have mentioned that now is the time to replace the throttle body assembly since explorers do have issues with them anyway. It appears you just now replied your throttle body assembly as well. Good informative video though 👍

My red/black hose is cracked before the rubber, It's probably my issue besides the EGR but I definitely need to fix the hose. What is that part called and do you have another video by chance to show its replacement?

I have a 2010 ford sport trac the problem is that when I try to drive off the truck doesn’t move it gives a little push but from there nothing it’s like if I had the hand break on but obviously it doesn’t same when I try to go back it does the same. When I change gears it also makes a small bang i put in the FIXD system scanner & it says this is the problem but I want to be 100% sure
