  • Back at it again at the tea bar at West China Tea. So-Han (@WestChinaTea) is pouring some Unto Purity Sichuan White Tea, but it is soon revealed that the Tea House has just received its first Green Tea of the year (this episode was filmed in April). This particular green tea is called Taicha Maojian (sometimes also called Taicha Maofeng), and it comes from Guizhou Province. We unbox this green tea later in the episode (Sorry, Scott!), but on the way to this special treat the group chats about their various projects and things they're working on, what it's like to grow with an organization and learning to delegate tasks, the huí gān 回甘 ("returning sweetness") sensation and what it feels like, the qi of teas and how different teas can affect people's sleep...
A big thank you to all of the participants for such a great conversation! This one ended up running pretty long, so we've split it into two episodes. Keep on the lookout for part 2, where we taste the first fresh red tea of the 2022 tea harvesting season.

Thank you for this amazing video! Will you please recommend an affordable every day green tea? I am a full time student so I can't always afford to indulge but that also means my tea time is essential. I need something I can truly look forward to after many hours of lecture. The tea I have now (dragon well) is not quality and despite my careful brewing tends to be sharp and bitter leaving a dryness that I don't enjoy. I would love to try something sweet and rich with flavor. Thank you for these videos. They have been so helpful. I feel like I have my very own gongfu cha mentor ❤.

Most affordable green tea from West China Tea is Guan Guan Cha and it's awesome! A bit more expensive is Su Mao Feng and that's also a great every day drinker! I think you'll really like either!

Will you add the sleepy teas you mentioned to the description please? I could really use something for bedtime. I have an herbal tea for that but it's bagged and doesn't taste good.

Aged white tea, especially Shou Mei that is more than 5 or 6 years old. Ya Bao or any tea made from Camelia crassicolumna. Includes Qian Nian Ye Sheng and Wild White from WCT. I'd also put Charcoal Roasted Tie Guan Yin in the category of "teas that don't keep me up" but like we say in the video - everyone's bodies are different.
