  • This episode opens with So-Han pouring a middle steeping of Taicha Maojian, a vernacular green tea from Guizhou and the first fresh Green Tea that West China Tea received from China in 2022. This picks up from Part 1 which you can watch here: • Tea60 茶話 - Tasting The...
The conversation opens with the table learning about the region of Xinjiang on the map of China and So-Han delighting the table with his account of Chinese bagels from that region. The group also learns about the land area sizes of various Chinese provinces by asking "How many Texases can fit in this province?"
From there, we go diving in the box of new teas for Yi Ya Yi Ye 一芽一葉 ("One Bud One Leaf"), a Taicha Red Tea from the same region of Guizhou. Time to taste the first fresh Red Tea of the 2022 harvest season!
The group talks about water quality and how "the quality of your water is the upper limit of the quality of your tea." Corey offers up a fun game of Desert Island tea and Vote Off The Island tea. A tough proposition to say the least! Some discussion on artisan tea vs. mass production tea.
Later, the group moves on to drinking another fancy red tea called Rum Raisin, a red tea made from a blend of Phoenix Dancong leaves.

The Tisane conversation made me think about how I started my tea journey as a kid drinking Mint tisane with my family and then moving into mint w/ black or green tea. Then moving into tisane and tea blends and recently I have moved into pure Tea as my drink of choice. I have fallen in love with Japanese Fukamushi sencha, white tea and a few Oolongs.

Thank you So Han and Erik for getting me into _gōng fū chá_ !!
Red teas don't quite suit my body(I seem to be mildly allergic to caffeine, especially red tea. I get symptoms such as itchy throat and loose bowels, full-on diarrhea in the worst cases), but I definitely like the mellow taste.

BTW the teas that are my "cup of tea" are Oolongs, mainly _yán chás_ , and _Pǔ'ěrs_ , especially _Shēng Pǔ'ěrs_ .

Yikes! That’s gnarly. It’s good to figure out what your body likes and doesn’t like! Everyone is different
