Loved the upcycling. Great seeing spokeshaves making a come back. Love the bound handle. Assume glue, and you oiled the wood. Only thought was the decorative extension of the leather will give you problems in the future. Great channel, we are from a long line of axepeople and sawyers. You have helped me to get my uncles to teach my daughters, the finer points of standing and underhand chop. Thanks.
Kindling and small branches. Absolutely. Most don't know what each is used for. Most people don't know there are several types of axes and more than one hatchet.
@@boredgamer4290 Haha me? I have quite a bit of axe experience you don't have to be a lumberjack to know that wrapping thin leather thongs around the head of a wood splitting object will destroy the leather. I wrapped the neck of one of my axes with sisal twine one time and soaked it in boiled linseed oil. Mostly for aesthetics like in this video and theoretically to protect the wood handle but splitting wood with it completely shredded it. I felt a little silly because obviously something weaker than wood isn't going to be good at protecting wood.
You’re a joy to watch. Axes, hatchets and knives are all a passion of mine. Enjoy watching bring things back to life. Repurposing bears buying new any day. Could you do a full video on how to do that haft wrap? Always wanted to learn, and you definitely have the knowledge to pass on. My buddy gets busted up tools at estate sales and junk shows, I always take the axe heads and busted up hafts for various blacksmith and carpenter projects. You’ve inspired me. This would do very well in the outdoors and crafting community. Good on ya miss!❤

I would call it a hatchet, and bet it would split kindling right nicely. 👍👍
