    I agree that step 2 CK will essential become the new test programs use to screen applicants, but my issue is with how late into medical school students takes step 2CK. Since the majority of US medical students take step 2 at the end of their 3rd year if they don't do well it puts them in a really bad position if they are trying to apply to a competitive special. Whereas if you don't do well on step 1 there is plenty of time to reevaluate and make a new plan.

    step 2ck has become very difficult now, i just attempted it, its not at all like before as my friends described to me through their experiences. This was my 1st attempt and im applying in 2022, my score is 216. So, now what can I do, i used to get good results about 240s in uwsa’s and 234 in nbme’s but in the main exam though it went hard, i felt i would pass it but did not expect 216.

    Do u think it’s reasonable for me to target for residency 2023 ( right now I’m a blank page haven’t given any steps also).
    I finished my internship at the end of march 2020. If I have to get into July 2023 residency then I have to apply for interviews in Sept 2022, so by then my yog gap would have been almost 2.5 years, do you think it’s a red flag?
    I’m going to start my preparation for the step 1, right now I feel like I’m on level 0 with my knowledge, for a person like me do u suggest I do Kaplan videos or boards and beyond ( I have not studied anything related to step 1 in the past and Whatever I have learned in mbbs I don’t really remember anything. Could u please suggest what is better for me Kaplan or BnB or should I do both ??

    So that I can finish my preparation in a reasonable amount of time and also get a very high score. I’m ready to put in as much as effort possible to get a really good score

  • @hr53686
    @hr53686 Před 3 lety

    I dont necessarily agree with this. If you're applying for the 2023-2024 match there will be a lot of people with step1 scores reported and if you have a similar CV and a Step 2 score as the other applicants but they have a step1 score that says 250 instead of a ''pass'' then there's not a lot of reason for the program directors to pick you over them. These people have filtered applicants on their step1 score for so long that they obviously will have a bias even if they try to not put too much weight on the score because they are human in the end.
    If you're applying for the 2025 or 2026 match then i could see it not being much of a problem.
